The influence of political beliefs on the evaluation of objective information
Ševčíková, Nina ; Shavit, Anna (advisor) ; Houdek, Petr (referee)
The diploma thesis looks at the issue of political conviction among Slovak voters and the subsequent analysis of the influence of this conviction on the evaluation of information. As a goal, with the help of quantitative research, specifically a questionnaire survey, it determines to map this impact. The theoretical part therefore deals with two main parts. In the first, it tries to define political belief, its formation among voters and enumerates various influences that act on it. It further categorizes political beliefs. In the second theoretical part, the thesis dives into the Slovak context of political communication, analyzes party families, the current state of political parties and focuses on the Slovak voter and his perception of democracy. In the practical part, the objectives of the research are defined. The results showed that respondents who identify their political beliefs as strong are much more decisive in evaluating the received information based on agreement and disagreement. At the same time, the findings indicate that voter identification on the left-right scale of political orientation does not have a significant impact on agreement or disagreement when receiving information.

Goralková, Nikola ; Just, Petr (advisor) ; Kubátová, Hana (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the activities of the Slovak National Party in politics from 2006- 2010 and how their political profile has changed over time. After introducing the theoretical attitudes, there will be briefly described the nature of the party, more precisely the ideological background, its electorate and the history of the party from 1989 up until 2006 and the emphasis of the most crucial moments in during period. Subsequently, the work focuses on the evolution of the SNP in particular parliamentary terms, whereas the emphasis is put on the causes of successes and failures in parliamentary elections. This topic is linked with the question of fluctuation, which caused the fall in votes of numbers of votes for the SNP in certain cases. Within analyzed parliamentary terms, all attention focused on the beginning of the 2016-2020 parliamentary term, because the parliamentary election in 2016 started a fundamental change for the party. After being an out-parliamentary party for four years, the party again gained its seat in the parliament with a seemingly high percentage of votes. It became a part of the coalition and its leader, Andrej Danko, became Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. This work also identifies the scale of success in the realization of election...
Political Perspectives of Sustainability of Welfare State in the Czech republic
Mohnert, Jan ; Novák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Novotný, Vilém (referee)
The problem of the sustainability of the welfare state became over several last years one of the most important political, medial and social topics in the Czech republic. Recent experience from countries of southern Europe are showing, that large welfare states are in their current size economically unsustainable, because they significantly participate on creating public budget's deficits and on the growth of government debt. In this master's thesis I deal with exploring the possibility, that political parties in the Czech republic conduct a reduction of the Czech welfare state's size. The thesis draws on the economic theory of democracy developed by Joseph Schumpeter and Anthony Downs and the argumentation builds on its assumption that political parties are rational actors motivated purely by gaining votes and winning elections. Based on this assumption, I develop an economic model of partisan decision-making and conclude conditions, that allow political parties to decide rationally in accordance with their assumed motivation to conduct the reduction of the welfare state. The fulfillment of these conditions is consequently being empirically analyzed for the specific case of the Czech republic. The results of my analysis show, that none of these conditions is fulfilled in the Czech republic - by...

Are Czechs biased?
Vobořil, Lukáš ; Šťastný, Daniel (advisor) ; Hudík, Marek (referee)
This thesis builds on B. Caplan's study, which proves - based on SAEE results - that American public's thinking when deciding on economics is biased from anti-market, anti-foreign, make-work and pessimistic biases. Consequently, there are differences between practiced and really wanted policies. This work focuses on the Czech public. Based on survey processed by regression analysis it confirms that Czechs suffer from the same biases as Americans. The work tests differences between Czech and U.S. experts and finds out indications of pro-work and pessimistic bias
