Vaňková, Adéla ; Laufková, Veronika (advisor) ; Havlová, Jana (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the popularity of characters in children's literature, among three generations - children, their parents and grandparents. The main goal of this diploma thesis is to find out how the popularity of the characters changed in individual generations. The work is divided into three main parts. The theoretical part contains several main units. In the first unit, the author deals with literature as such, its history, division and various literary genres, including different concepts of the character according to several authors, for example Daniela Hodrová, Bohumil Fořt, Chatman or Aristotle. In the second part, he presents the character, his characteristics, history and other types of characters in literature. The work then focuses on children's literature, its development, its history and the popularity of characters according to Jiří Trávníček's research, in which individual generations of readers and the phenomena associated with them are described, which will also be part of this work. Qualitative research is presented in the empirical part of this work. The chosen method is personal interviews with four different families. All respondents are divided according to place of residence, age, gender and education into several categories, which were subsequently compared...
demonstration story of the damn things
Vyhnálková, Adéla ; Nováček, Daniel (referee) ; Kubíková, Zuzana (advisor)
demo story of the damn things is a text “material“ and a long-term experiment in a form of an internet story. for me, it's a space to explore a narrative in all its possible aspects – definitions and standards of a book, different forms and media of storytelling, writing methods and the author's relationship to the text itself. the story works with a timeline, plot, linguistic and typographic variability. it deconstructs and redesigns language, creates its own grammar, works with nonlinearity, conscious incompleteness, imperfection and unreadability. and it does this to figure out how to write as honestly as possible. the story is a decision – to write things as they are and as one likes them. by taking inspiration in teen literature, diary novels, internet forums, blogs and automatic writing, a kind of "parody" of the book is created. and it does so by the demontration narrative about friendship, educational system, mental health, searching for a home, escaping into the wild and fitting into the social system

The Situation of Literature Teaching in English Language Classes in Czech Secondary Schools
MRÁZOVÁ, Anna
Although literature can be seen as a means of improving students' English proficiency, its role in secondary education in the Czech Republic is often insignificant. Literature should be an important and integral part of the comprehensive development of English as a second language for students. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to investigate the role of literature in secondary teaching of English as a second language in the Czech Republic. This thesis includes a theoretical introduction to the topic of the importance of literature in language teaching and learning and research based on questionnaires completed by both secondary school English language teachers and students, which provides an insight into the perspectives of participants from both sides of the educational process on the examined topic.
The Development of the Cult of St. John of Nepomuk to Canonization
Herold, Miroslav ; Petráček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Mikulec, Jiří (referee) ; Royt, Jan (referee)
The cult of St. John of Nepomuk was one of the characteristic features of life in the Habsburg Empire and other European catholic countries in the early modern period. The origins of veneration for the medieval martyr were tied to Prague, to his tomb in the cathedral, to the Metropolitan Chapter. The saint became famous above all for the conviction that he gave his life for the preservation of the confessional secret. With his death he preserved the good name of the Czech Queen Joan, who confessed to him; on the other hand, he is said to have punished those who were disrespectful of his own posthumous reputation and grave. He therefore became an immensely popular defender of honour and reputation, values highly valued in the early modern society. Under the influence of the Prague Chapter, St. John's veneration was taken up by the Habsburgs, the Catholic rulers who ascended the throne of John's torturer, Wenceslaus IV, and John's spiritual daughter, Joan. They venerated the saint as one of the patron saints of the Bohemian kingdom, which they ruled. The recatholicization of this kingdom and its associated countries enabled the growth of St John's veneration, which by the end of the 17th century had already begun to spread vigorously beyond their borders. At the beginning of the 18th century, this...
Heinrich Schliemann: autobiography
Murzina, Daria ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Jarošová, Markéta (referee)
On January 6, 2022, is 200 years have passed since the birth of Heinrich Schliemann. He is called the Founder of Mycenaean archeology, archaeologist-amateur, gold digger, impostor, and even a charlatan. Schliemann was born in a small Prussian township but lived an extraordinarily bright life, the ultimate success of which was the excavations of ancient Troy and Mycenae. Heinrich Schliemann considered himself this not only fate but he felt that he was born for this purpose. Is it so? Does the "Dream of Troy" have its roots in Heinrich's childhood? Which of what Schliemann wrote about himself can be trusted, and which is deception, exaggeration, or adoption? The thesis dedicates to the historical and philological analysis of all autobiographies of Heinrich Schliemann to bring all known biographical information to a common denominator, filtering out mystifications and obvious borrowings, separating real facts from embellishments and hyperbole as well. Keywords Heinrich Schliemann, Autobiography, Literature, traveling, Troy, Fraud
CASTLE ZDISLAVICE - CONCEPT OF RECOVERY OF CULTURAL MONUMENTS
Valentová, Veronika ; Pospíšil, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
The task of this thesis is the concept of restoration of the castle Zdislavice and its new use as a literary hotel, focusing on the personality of a prominent Austrian writer Marie Ebner-Eschenbach, née Dubská. My goal was to find use, which could be revived and could thus be preserved for future generations. Thanks to the personality of the writer, I decided to create site devoted to literature. I designed hotel for literary enthusiasts, linguists, copywriters and professionals. But also for visitors who are interested in the person of Marie Ebner-Eschenbach. There is also a restaurant, a literary cafe with an associated museum of the writer, chapel, banquet halls with potential uses for conference and library (three libraries). Part of the area is used as a park. It is designed as an English park, but part of the area closest to the castle is designed as a French garden. The tomb of Marie Ebner-Eschenbach is near the castle and is accessible via a staircase. Connection between tomb and castle is shown in the situration plan.
