Weak Solutions to Mathematical Models of the Interaction between Fluids, Solids and Electromagnetic Fields
Scherz, Jan Andreas ; Benešová, Barbora (advisor) ; Muha, Boris (referee) ; Disser, Karoline (referee)
Weak Solutions to Mathematical Models of the Interaction between Fluids, Solids and Electromagnetic Fields Abstract We analyze the mathematical models of two classes of physical phenomena. The first class of phe- nomena we consider is the interaction between one or more insulating rigid bodies and an electrically conducting fluid, inside of which the bodies are contained, as well as the electromagnetic fields trespass- ing both of the materials. We take into account both the cases of the fluid being incompressible and the fluid being compressible. In both cases our main result yields the existence of weak solutions to the associated system of partial differential equations, respectively. The proofs of these results are built upon hybrid discrete-continuous approximation schemes: Parts of the systems are discretized with respect to time in order to deal with the solution-dependent test functions in the induction equation. The remaining parts are treated as continuous equations on the small intervals between consecutive discrete time points, allowing us to employ techniques which do not transfer to the discretized setting. Moreover, the solution-dependent test functions in the momentum equation are handled via the use of classical penalization methods. The second class of phenomena we consider is the...
Motor abilities in younger school age children that took part in project Sazka Olympijsky viceboj
Benešová, Barbora ; Hájková, Jana (advisor) ; Pádivý, Martin (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to ascertain results in test battery in young school age children, specifically aged 6.-9. years, who took part in project Sazka Olympijský víceboj. We were especially focused on disciplines of Olympijský diplom, which examine motor abilities by using motor tests. Unfortunately, because of Covid-19 pandemic situation, we had to request the results of mentioned tests from elementary schools, and also from organisation, that manages the whole project. The data we have received were from three elementary schools from Central Bohemian Region and Prague. All data were from first stage of elementary school and were measured between 2016-2020, because these data were the most current ones. The practical part of this thesis was formed as quantitative form of research. Population was composed of 92 schoolchildren, who took part in project Olympijský diplom between 2016- 2020 and were in first, second and third year of elementary school during these years. Girls were included in total count of 51 and boys were included in total count of 41. We have analysed collected data from different aspects. The aim of our interest were average values according to gender, school year and also comparison of class with orientation on sports and casual class. The research part of this thesis...
Evaluation of motor abilities and basic somatometric indicators of children in the project ''Děti na Startu''
Benešová, Barbora ; Hájková, Jana (advisor) ; Svobodová, Irena (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the level of motor abilities and to find out basic somatometric indicators of children in the project ''Děti na startu''. The theoretical part will be processed in the form of literary research, the practical part will describe and evaluate selected motor tests in relation to age and basic somatometric indicators. In total, five tests of motoric abilities and one assessment of somatometric indicator were evaluated and used in the practical part. The first test evaluated was a standing broad jump where the vast majority of children achieved a below-average score. The next test evaluated was sit-ups (60 sec), in this test the children achieved mostly average results. The third test was an endurance shuttle run, in which the most often evaluated result was significantly below average. The fourth test was a shuttle run of 4x10 meters, in this test more than half of the children came off average or better. The last exercise test was a modified standing forward bend test, with 22 children achieving normal and better values. The BMI values, that we calculated were between 14,3 and 18,5. Keywords: Evaluation, motorics, motor abilities, project "Děti na startu", somatometric indicators, unifittest, testing.
Cultural and social life of the German minority in the Karlovy Vary/Carlsbad region since 1989
Benešová, Barbora ; Kunštát, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kučera, Jaroslav (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with cultural and social life of the German minority in the Czech lands with the focus on its development in the Karlovy Vary border region since 1989. The study is based on an analysis of the German minority press, especially the periodicals Aufbau und Frieden, Prager Volkszeitung, Landeszeitung, LandesEcho and Eghaland Bladl, and a research survey based on interviews with members of the German minority and questionnaires addressed to the representatives of local authorities of the towns in which the research took place. First of all, the basic concepts and minority policy at the national and international levels are defined. Next, the thesis concentrates on the historical and legislative development and social-demographic situation of the German minority in the Czech lands after 1945. The next part of the thesis discusses the development of the cultural and social life of the German minority in the Czech lands and closely characterizes four main areas - organization activity, cultural and social activity, language situation and media. These four areas are explored within the research survey in the main part of the thesis. The aim is to analyze the development of the cultural and social life of the German minority in the Karlovy Vary Region, and to depict the current status.
Differential functional diagnosis, the indication of fixed backrest and it's effect on the prevention of pressure ulcers in patients after spinal cord injury
Benešová, Barbora ; Svěcená, Kateřina (advisor) ; Sládková, Petra (referee)
This study aims to evaluate the importance of proper back support for patients with spinal damage after long-term sitting in a mechanical wheelchair. The subject of this thesis was to analyze Czech and foreign literature and offer the most accurate and still missing information when selecting and compiling the selection of mechanical wheelchair seating unit. The thesis describes the differences between right and wrong sitting posture of mechanical wheelchair users. It analyzes the available information on the possibility of objective assessment, as well as trying to justify the importance of the support of the trunk on the resulting stability and functionality during activities of daily living. It refers to the most common secondary changes and their chaining caused by poor sitting posture. A subjective evaluation of the comfort of users sitting in mechanical wheelchairs in the form of a questionnaire was chosen to assess the urgency of the theme. The research carried out confirmed the hypotheses of clinical practice, which are included in the work. Based on the collected information, this work may allow occupational therapists, physiotherapists and doctors to more easily determine in a broader context whether an indication of the fixed backrest is appropriate and desirable (required) when dealing...
Mathematical and computational modeling of shape-memory alloys
Benešová, Barbora ; Roubíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Krejčí, Pavel (referee) ; Stefanelli, Ulisse (referee)
This dissertation thesis is concerned with developing a mesoscopic model for sin- gle crystalline shape-memory alloys including thermo-dynamically consistent thermo- mechanical coupling - here the term "mesoscopic" refers to the ability of the model to capture fine spatial oscillations of the deformation gradient by means of gradient Young measures. Existence of solutions to the devised model is proved in a "phase-field-like approach" by a scale transition from a microscopic model that features a term related to the interfacial energy; this scale transition from a physically relevant model justifies the mesoscopic relaxation. Further, existence of solutions is also proved by backward- Euler time discretization which forms a conceptual numerical algorithm. Based on this conceptual algorithm a computer implementation of the model has been developed and further optimized in the rate-independent isothermal setting; some calculations using this implementation are also presented. Finally, refinements s of the analysis in the convex case as well as a limit of the phase-field-like approach in this case are exposed, too.
