The Czechoslovak school system in Great Britain (1940-1945)

Summary: The work deals with the educational system of the Czechoslovak Government-in-exile during the Second World War. The need for Czechoslovak youth education was in this time connected with political education and also with the publicity of Czechoslovak exile among British Allies. Therefore the work classifies the provided education and it also deals with future plans for the students. Educational department of Ministry of Interior had the leading role in the education, and therefore its history and organization is also defined. Czechoslovak education took place in a foreign country, so a cooperation was required. The influence of British authorities on Czechoslovak schools, that followed Czech laws valid before autumn 1938, is described. The cooperation between both states in the post-war situation is also studied, as well as the impact of the exile education on its students after their return to the homeland.

Das in der Diplomarbeit behandelte Thema sowohl unsere nicht längst vergangene Historie sind nicht nur wegen aktueller politischen Situation zu erinnern. Das heutige tschechische Rechtsordnung und Demokratie hält man nämlich für eine Selbstverständlichkeit. Die Diplomarbeit besteht aus dem die Verwaltungs- und Verfassungsrahmen einleitenden Allgemeinteil, dann folgt eine Beschreibung von den konkreten Aspekten der nazistischen Okkupation. Meinem Erachten nach sind einige Aspekte oder Themen viel konkreter zu beschreiben, vor allem die Judenverfolgung, Reinhard Heydrich und Gestapo. Einer der Hauptbeiträgen dieser Diplomarbeit stellt die sich einem bestimmten Region widmende Kapitole dar. Zuerst muss erwähnt werden, dass die staatliche Form "Protektorat" überhaupt nicht dem Wesen der Regierung auf dem seitens Deutschen Reiches im Jahre 1939 gewonnenen Gebiet entspricht. Diese staatliche Form diente nämlich nicht nur einer absoluten wirtschaftlichen Ausnutzung von ökonomischen und menschlichen Ressourcen, sondern auch einer Verfolgung der Menschen wegen ihrer Rasse, politischen Meinung usw. Die Staatsbürger wurden einer neuen Ordnung unterworfen, überall zu finden waren Angst, Hinrichtungen, Drohungen. The Court of Appeal in Bohemia between 1749 and 1790 (1850) This thesis describes the development of The Court of Appeal in Bohemia between the years 1749 and 1850. The main aim of this thesis is the description of the role of this court in the system of justice in the second half of the eighteen century and the description of the effects of reforms of Maria Theresa and Joseph II on the constitution, structure and function of the court. In the form, which the court acquired at the time of the rule of Joseph II, the court remained for another sixty years. The Court of Appeal in Bohemia was founded in the year 1548. From the beginning it was a royal court and was empowered to hear appeals of municipal courts. Its competence was extended during the ages. On the contrary the district of the court was limited during the eighteen century only to Bohemia. In the year 1850 the court was transformed into Higher Regional Court in Prague.

Contract of sale and selected related issues of contract law according to Act No. 141/1950 Coll., Civil code, in comparison with recent legislation Abstract The thesis deals with the contract of sale and other selected legal institutes of contract law according to the Act No. 141/1950 Coll., the Civil Code (hereinafter "OZ 1950") while comparing them with the recent legislation contained in the Act No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code. The contract of sale is generally one of the most important means of realizing the autonomy of the will of the subject bearing rights and obligations, moreover it is one of the most frequent ways of transferring ownership. The thesis offers a critical view of the legal regulation of legal institutes in both mentioned codes, when at the same time, both positive and negative aspects of the given legal regulations are pointed out. On this count, in relation to the recent legal regulation, some considerations de lege ferenda are stated, and furthermore some inaccuracies in the prevailing current evaluation of the OZ 1950 are also noted. Trials of Nazi Criminals in the Occupation Zones and their Influence on Czechoslovak Retribution - Abstract and Key Words The theme of the presented dissertation thesis is the phenomenon of the so-called Zone trials, ie the trials of Nazi criminals, which took place just after the end of the World War II in the territory of the individual occupation zones of divided Germany in the exclusive (possibly shared) jurisdiction of one of the four occupying powers (France, the Soviet Union, the United States of America and the United Kingdom). The first goal of this thesis is to analyze the trial programs implemented in each of the occupation zones and on the basis of these partial analyzes to obtain a generalized characteristics of each of the programs. The second goal is to compare each of the individual Zone trial programs. The third goal is to answer the question of whether and, if so, to what extent, the Zone programs of trials of Nazi criminals and Retribution trial programs implemented in the territory of Czechoslovakia were mutually influenced. Restitution of works of art seized during World War II Abstract This thesis, entitled "Restitution of Artworks Seized during World War II," examines the reasons for the Nazi looting of art across Europe during World War II, developments before and during the war, the subsequent fate of lost artworks, international efforts to repair the damage, and the current situation. This thesis looks at the issue from the perspective of the legal framework in each of the countries involved, while showing the real difficulties faced by individuals in trying to recover lost family property. Above all, this thesis is an analysis of a complex legal situation where both international and national law is failing, while showing how flexibility of law and time are key factors in achieving satisfaction. This thesis is divided into seven chapters and includes a pictorial appendix. The first chapter explains why the Nazis showed such a strong interest in art collections, how they viewed art, and how the acquired works were intended to serve the Reich. The second chapter deals in detail with the concept of "degenerate art," which permeates the entire issue and this thesis. This bachelor thesis is dedicated to Götzl, Odkolek and Vilímek Prague families that were connected both relationally and entrepreneurially. The Götzl family and its members, especially the mayor Josef Götzl with his sons and their successors, belonged for almost a century to the influential figures, not only from industrial Karlín, but also from the Prague political background. The magnitude of the acquired social status and the prestige empowerment was powered by the purchase of the family residency and farmstead in Konárovice near Kolín. In the 1980s the Götzl family connected by marriage with František Odkolek miller's family. In this way a successfull entrepreneurial dynasty was born, represented first by Jindřich Odkolek and thenceforth by Vincenc Götzl, his sister's husband. The social and the family life was from now on directed to the presentable provincial estate in Konárovice, which in the upcoming decades became a place of countless visits for significant figures from the political and cultural environment surrounding both families. Rights of national minorities in the Czechoslovak Republic and their application Abstract This thesis deals with the rights of national minorities in the Czechoslovak Republic. The introduction is devoted to a brief outline of the situation before the establishment of Czechoslovakia and also the situation just after its establishment and the adoption of a new state by minorities. The core of the work is the analysis of national regulation, especially the constitutional level and language law, as well as the analysis of international law, from which the national regulation was derived greatly. The thesis is also devoted to outlining the functioning of the international system for the protection of minorities within the League of Nations and its establishment. An important part for understanding the issue of the rights of national minorities is to compare their protection in several European countries that had the same international obligations to protect minorities as the Czechoslovak Republic, namely Hungary, Poland and Romania. Regulation of Civil Service between 1918 and 1938

Civil service regulation 1918-1938 Abstract The civil service in the sense of the officials working within the state apparatus appeared in the Czech lands during the modern age, but it did not acquire a solid legal form until the second half of the 19th century. At this time, there was a need of normatively enshrining the rights and obligations of the civil servants, and the result of this effort was the adoption of Act No. 15/1914 Coll., so called the service pragmatics. This legal regulation was subsequently adopted into the Czechoslovak legal system. The service pragmatics thus applied during the First and Second Czechoslovak Republic, but during this period it was amended several times and some parts of it were changed to correspond to the new conditions within a democratic Czechoslovakia. In addition to the adjustment of the service pragmatics, which was already established by the Constitution from 1920 (it introduced, for example, an equality before the law, equal rights for women, who could subsequently enter the service, etc.), there were several other norms adopted during the 1920s and 1930s that amended or supplemented the provisions of the service pragmatics. Determination and protection of the state border of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic

During the study of the documents on the establishment and protection of the state border of Czechoslovakia and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, I have based myself on the literature and legal regulations in force and effective at the time of their use. I then drew indispensable information during consultations with my thesis supervisor. This thesis deals with the original control bodies of the past centuries that patrolled the borders, as well as the armed corps - the Financial Guard. It was established during the Austrian monarchy and continued its activities after the establishment of Czechoslovakia. The current borders of the Czech Republic are based on historical sources to which the Czechoslovak government referred when the Czechoslovak Republic was founded. Thanks to these efforts, we have the state borders as we know them today. However, the establishment of these borders was not at all easy, and at the very beginning of its existence Czechoslovakia had to make a military effort to maintain its borders. The greatest surveillance and protection of the borders took place during the 1930s, when the Czechoslovak Republic was preparing for a war conflict, which ultimately did not take place.
