(in English) This thesis is focused on historic causes and context of contemporary position of the Roman Catholic Church in the Czech society. To chosen problematics I approach through a concept of spirituality which enables us to have a preview on other phenomena and processes that disrupted catholic religiosity. My thesis starts in the Enlightenment which has had a quite underlying ideological influence on the position churches all over the Europe, while I complemented this chapter by secularization aspects of Judeo-Christian tradition. The next chapter dedicating to 19. century is primarily focused on modernization processes (especially Czech nationalism) which could replace or suppressed traditional religiosity. The short 20. century is devided on formation of relationship between state, church and society (The First Republic and communist period) and simoustaneously in framework of this part it is introduced postmodern transformation of religion whose ,,offshoots" characterise present Czech spirituality. The Revolution and the beginning of the 90s are viewed from two approaches - from a dissolution of concensus and from adapted liminal theory. How it seems, the contemporary position of the Catholic Church is given profound processes - especially anti-catholic form of nationalism and a rate of...

The period between 1960 and 1989 was choosen for its stable form of the territorial zoning and as a period of declarative completion of the so-called socialist society. In such a framework it is possible to follow the influence that important landmarks had on the territorial structure of the State Security, as for instance the period around the Prague Spring 1968, or the rise of civic activities starting the end of 1970's, as well as the period of the fall of regime at the end of 1989. The study was written in particular as a result of studies of original so far mostly unexplored archival materials including use of some memoirs and other secondary literary sources. The role of territorial StB-bodies did not consist in a direct and mass...
The tragedy and the sacrifice: Hungarian and Slovak historiography 15 years after the change
Gonczarow, Zora ; Nálevka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Rychlík, Jan (referee) ; Irmanová, Eva (referee)
Comparing of Slovak and Hungarian historiography 15 years after 1989 there are several conclusions to be made which mark both historiographies and can therefore suggest there are common characteristics of Central European historical writing. There is a significant difference between how the communist heritage was treated in both countries - in Hungary and in Slovakia, however the link between the historiography and actual politics is very strong. Some of the historians emerged as leading politicians in the new set-up and the historiography in terms of cultural practice became in some cases a significant political player. Generally, the historiography and history-related questions play an important role in everyday politics. Both historiographies bear strong signs of national discourse and either was significantly shaken in its positivist approach. In the case comparison several conclusions were made about the strategy each historiography employs to present the history of the country. The Hungarian as well as Slovak national corpus intends to show a history of an independent and proud nation which has worked hard to achieve its own state. The corpus is dedicated to the national story picturing the past and the tradition to build on, explaining the form of the state as it is (including the borders),...
