Discourses of Birth Management in Czech web articles
Tichá, Kristýna ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Hájek, Martin (referee)
I focus on the nature of the discourses of the birth themselves and on the form of their controversies, which are tied to their confrontations in Czech web articles. I examine the discourses and their strife in the articles of active participants of the dispute and on the most popular website in the articles dedicated to (future) parents. The discourse of the actively medically controlled delivery, perceives a birth as an inscrutable risky phenomenon which is medically necessary to keep always in a hospital with a staffing and material background to deal with possible complications. This discourse criticizes the births that are led outside hospitals. The discourse of the natural birth sees a birth as a natural part of life, during which usually no complications occur, if there is present a trained expert, who does not interfere in the natural process of labor, except any required medical reasons. A natural birth can be taken place in home. The reader are warned by this discourse on the improper routine care in Czech hospitals, which is inconsistent with the needs of the mother and the child, and on complications of a birth caused by the active medical leading of labor. The articles on the popular website are mainly influenced by the discourse of the actively medically controlled birth. These...

Heldová, Barbora ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Matoušek, Petr (referee)
The following thesis focuses on several important aspects of communication and establishing relationships in palliative care, particularly in the environment of a day care center, which is established at the hospice. Partial aspects are represented by individual communication with clients, establishing positive relationship with them and activities and group work in the day care center. The thesis is divided into three main sections, whereby in the first one I deal with methodology of research and its implementation. In the second section I work with findings from the literature, combined with the practical knowledge gained from fieldwork. In conclusion I present the main findings of the observation conducted in the day care center and the hospice environment. Among the most important belong establishing communication with clients, process and communication phases and major factors affecting communication, which are demonstrated on certain cases of clients whose anamnesis differ from each other and thus we can prove the presence and influence of these factors. The same process I then chose to build relationships by finding certain factors that may influence the direction of development in the dynamics of relationship itself. The last part of the findings relates to activities in the day care...
Political Imprisonment as a Part of the Intergenerational Transmission of Ancestral History by Stories
Plecháčková, Debora ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Tomášek, Marcel (referee)
The thesis deals with intergenerational transmission of stories about political prisoners of 50s. In the theoretical part the concepts connected with sociology of memory are compiled - collective memory, family (better ancestral) memory, communicative memory, and generations. Also the historical contexts of political imprisonment, of the Prague spring and of the Velvet revolution are summarized. The author then made a qualitative analysis of the interviews with two following generations of descendants of six political prisoners. The analysis showed that the communicative situations were significantly co-determined by the author's intergenerational relations to the narrators: to generation of grandparents, parents and in some cases to contemporaries. Also often found metareflections about history and destiny of people, repeated specific stories with symbolic content or mingling of big (national) and small (family) history were connected with the genre of narration adequate to the communicative situation. The interviews allow characterizing of the intergenerational transmission of stories about political prisons of 50s as the communicative memory connected with specific life situations (e.g. adolescent asking) but also limited by many barriers. When transferring family history (but apparently even...

Annual Fairs
Strašilová, Eva ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Čepelák, Václav (referee)
The topic of my thesis is the annual fairs in the Czech Republic with the primary focus on the tradesmen of the traditional craft goods. The thesis is divided in two parts - theoretical and analytical. In the first part, I concentrate on the characteristics of the annual fairs in connection to the research that has been already done on this topic. Subsequently, I explicate the methodology of my research. In the research I opted for the method of participant observation and the semi-structured interview with the tradesmen of the traditional craft goods. I have attended two annual traditional fairs of crafted goods and managed to interview eight respondents. The second part of my thesis concentrates on the analysis of the respondents' interviews and the notes I have acquired during the stage of observation. On the basis of the data analysis I have identified the primary factors influencing the fairs' success rate from the tradesman viewpoint. The results at hand indicate the importance of the atmosphere during the fair, the quality of the accompanying programme, the selection of offered goods and the frequency with which the fairs are organized. Furthermore, I describe the tradesman community and the relationships between the individual groups. The focus is predominantly on the relationship between...
World of Cerebral Palsy
Kudláček, Miroslav ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Titzl, Boris (referee)
- Miroslav Kudláček "World of Cerebral Palsy" The aim of this project is to describe a process how people suffering from Cerebral palsy are getting to know their own disability. It is characteristic for this disease that its first symptoms develop not later than one year after the birth. So if follows that this man/child does not have a chance to gain any kind of experience of what it means "to be healthy". Therefore his point of view as far as his disability is concerned is completely different from those people who, for example, have had a car accident. The paper therefore intends to deal with a cognitive process how such disabled individuals cope with this problem. Theoretical part will be based on social constructivism (Berger, Luckmann, Kabele) and Piaget's "psychology of development". Methodological part should consist of interviews with people with Cerebral palsy which they will analyzed by concept Grounded Theory.
Socialistic complaints as an instrument of governance and remedy - Beroun district in the second half of the 80s.
Olbertová, Lenka ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with finding an answer to how socialistic complaints worked as an instrument of remedy and also as an instrument of governance. It proceeds from the theory of Albert O. Hirschman that explains strategies of solution in the area of firms, organizations and states and that also includes complaining. The other theoretical sources are the theory of bureaucratic organizations of Michel Crozier and Michel Foucault's conception of power and discipline. The issues of complaining are put into period context in the diploma thesis and it is supplemented about a brief elucidation of ruling manners considering the district level. The empirical part is based on qualitative and quantitative content analysis of complaints that were solved by the leading secretary at the District Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in Beroun from 1985 till 1989. It is not only focused on a survey of complaints but also interprets the procedures of solving that are related to the chosen theoretical findings. The thesis also explains the relationship between the communist party and its critics with their objections and the relationship between the party and people that were criticized in the complaints.
