Representation of the sixties of 20th century in literary autobiography
Procházková, Lucie ; Kubíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee)
This work is an attempt to gain a deeper understanding of the 1960s through an in-depth analysis of selected literary autobiographies. The first section is devoted to the theoretical foundation for exploring the chosen four texts of autobiographical literature. It is based on the analysis and subsequent comparison diaries of Ivan Diviš and Pavel Juráček and the memory of Vaclav Černý and Ota Filip. Additionally, this paper examines how these writers created an image of the 1960s and early 1970s.mFurther exploration includes narrative elements, for example, by what means texts are constructed, character space time, composition, and relationship to the audience. Moreover, the meaning of writing autobiographical literature, specifically the selected works, will be explored. Lastly, these major themes set the stage for the comprehensive analysis of the authors' works, revealing the creative design, history, society and culture of their time.

Dubová, Libuše ; Novotná, Jarmila (advisor) ; Procházková, Lenka (referee)
This diploma thesis, titled "Pythagorean Theorem in CLIL lessons", deals with one of the possible strategies in bilingual education - CLIL method which links teaching of a non- linguistic subject and a foreign language, mathematics and English, in this case. For the realization of CLIL method I have chosen the topic of the introduction to Pythagorean Theorem. The aim of this thesis was to check whether the chosen topic is suitable for CLIL lessons, then the influence of a foreign language on the active involvement of pupils in the lesson and on understanding of the subject matter. At the beginning, I focus on general integration of the content subject and a foreign language and then I describe the preparation of the experiment. The core of this thesis is the project of the CLIL lesson. The project was realized in the experimental groups, the gained data have been processed on the base of observation and analysis of the final individual work and the questionnaire. The results show the potential of the CLIL method as a new possibility for bilingual teaching of content subjects.
Anthropometric parameters in medical students
Procházková, Linda ; Rambousková, Jolana (advisor)
The aim of this work was to validate and verify changes in the students of the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University regarding their lifestyle and nutritional status with emphasis on the actual nutrition itself. Voluntary male and female students of 1st and 6th year were measured and their BMI values and percentage of body fat values were recorded using methods of bioimpedance measurement and questionnaires targeting their lifestyles and eating habits. A total of 35 female students of 1st year was measured as compared to 27 in their 6th year of studies and a total of 27 male students of 1st year compared to 7 in the 6th year. Questionnaire was filled in by 41 female students of the 1st year, 31 female students of the 6th year. Male students who filled in the questionnaire numbered 23 in the 1st year compared to 13 in the 6th year of their studies. In accordance of our hypothesis we came to conclusion that BMI index values and the percentage of body fat have midly risen in the students of the 6th year compared to the students of the 1st year. However, regarding lifestyle, a higher sport activity and lower use of alcohol and tobacco products was detected with female students of the 6th year in comparison with female students of the 1st year.
Phytoplankton of drinking water reservoirs in the Jizera Mountains, Czech Republic, in relation to treatability of water
Čermáková, Anna ; Hořická, Zuzana (advisor) ; Procházková, Lenka (referee)
The area of the Jizera Mountains (northern Bohemia) was significantly affected by acid atmospheric deposition in the second half of the 20th century. This mountain area has a very sensitive geology and is characterized by the predominance of spruce stands, naturally acidic shallow soils of podzolic type, large areas of peat bogs in the upper plateau, a rough climate, and a very high annual rainfall. The frequent heavy rains and a low infiltration capacity of soils brought about floods in the past, very dangerous for the populated foothills. , so in the early 20th century For that reason, a plan was proposed to construct a system of reservoirs for a flood protection of the area. In the 1970s, the need for new sources of drinking water increased in the area. The Souš retention and recreation reservoir was rebuilt to a drinking water reservoir in 1974, and a new drinking water reservoir Josefův Důl was bulit in 1982. Both the water bodies have had a dystrophic character since the beginning, and the Souš reservoir suffers from naturally high concentrations of aluminum. Due to the anthropogenic acidification, the reservoirs were fishless until brook charr (Salvelinus fontinalis) were successfully (re)introduced in the 1990s, and the diversity and numbers of the zooplankton were very low. Effect of latent toxoplasmosis on the thyroid function during pregnancy
Procházková, Lucie ; Kaňková, Šárka (advisor) ; Springer, Drahomíra (referee)
While several past studies dealt with the effects of latent toxoplasmosis on the function of the thyroid gland and on the pregnancy separately, the former one with varied results, this work combines the two areas together with goals to determine whether the latent toxoplasmosis affects levels of antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO) in the 1st trimester of pregnancy, to analyze the effect of toxoplasmosis on the levels of the thyrotrophic hormone and to learn whether the interactions between latent toxoplasmosis and autoimmune thyropathies affect conception, foetal development, length of pregnancy and mode of delivery in childbirth. The work follows on the recent years' discoveries of our laboratory that showed the latent toxoplasmosis to affect both the course of pregnancy and the prenatal development of a child. It also takes up directly on a screening of autoimmune thyropathies in pregnant women conducted in years 2006 to 2009 in General University Hospital. The retrospective study comprised of 1434 pregnant women who underwent serological examination as a part of the 1st trimester screening and whose serum was subsequently examined for toxoplasmosis. The data set obtained from medical databases contained results of serological screening of the mothers, ultrasound examination of the...
