Prokůpková, Zuzana ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Hynek (referee)
This thesis is specialized for perception of social and distributive justice in the Czech Republic after the year 1989 with the target to specify the potential changes and differences in the individual opinions caused by the influence of transformation. The thesis starts with a definition of the concept of social and distributive justice and after that it consists of one methodological and two empirical sections. The methodological part determines the questions which are probed in a survey (secondary analysis) than the used data files and chosen personal characteristics. This diploma work also clarifies (represents) a focus groups research, its process, the sample and the target groups. The secondary analysis of perception of social and distributive justice is the first empirical part the target of which is to identify the changes which had happened in 1990s. The next goal is to determine the factors on which perception of justice was depended. These outcomes are replenished by the view of the perception of the justice in the year 2005 when the similar survey was made. The focus group research is the other part of the thesis which could examine into individual motives and determines the concrete facts which are the reasons of individual persuasion about justice or injustice. The attempt of finding the model...
Mixed forms of elderly care and its impact on informal carers' mental health and social problems
Glanzová, Tereza ; Jeřábek, Hynek (advisor) ; Remr, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with mixed forms of elderly care in the Czech Republic. The aim is to identify the advantages and potential disadvantages of mixed forms of elderly care in connection with informal carers' mental health and social life. There are 2 groups of informal carers distinguished within the research - those, who get professional care help and those, who care alone or get just a little professional care help. Mixed methods design, which combines quantitative and qualitative research, was used to study the world of informal carers. The quantitative part is based on data from a research Podpora neformálních pečovatelů, which were selected by STEM/MARK agency in 2014. Qualitative research is based on 10 in-depth interviews with informal carers. Both pieces of research are integrated in a phase of data analysis by the explanation method. Informal carers' mental health problems and social problems and its intensity in connection to mixed forms of elderly care are formulated in the results. The thesis also presents factors, which influence mental health problems and social problems. The results showed that using professional care help simultaneously with informal elderly care has a positive impact on informal carers' mental health and social life. Nevertheless, the influence of mixed forms...
Conversations With Our Apps: Exploring the social context of communicating with technology
Vaughan, Rebecca Susanne ; Vostal, Filip (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Hynek (referee)
The words and messages in apps are part of a conversation between people and their technology that we take part in every day. As technology becomes increasingly embedded into our daily lives, we form relationships with our devices and our apps. While we might think of these relationships as different, our behaviors and interactions with technology are still shaped by the social world, and these messages found in apps are based on existing patterns in face-to-face conversation. UX writing is the process of creating these messages in user experiences, which facilitate people's social interactions between apps and other digital products. Interacting with apps and other digital products is inherently social, and by using conversational language as a driving component of UX writing and Human-Computer Interaction, we can also cast User Experience (UX) as a type of communicative exchange between a person and an app, and therefore User Experience (UX) as conversation. Through qualitative interviews and usability testing with native and non-native English speakers, this research explores what type of language style works best for a global audience in these conversations with our apps and how we can strategically apply conversational patterns to improve the experience of users. Plisková, Nikol ; Jeřábek, Hynek (advisor) ; Svobodová, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on opinion leaders during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this thesis is to find out, using quantitative research, who are the opinion leaders in the COVID-19 pandemic and which charasteristics and skills make them "qualified" for position. The thesis is theoretical-empirical. The first part, based on the methods of study and research of technical literature, specialized articles and thematically oriented electronic resources, creates the theoretical basis for the topic of thesis. Continuously follows the empirical part, which contains its own quantitative research in the form of CAWI and paper questionaire, which is further analyzed by using statistical methods in SPSS.
Does a virtual community exist?
Balážová, Eva ; Jeřábek, Hynek (advisor) ; Holeček, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of my bachelor's work, "Does a virtual community exist? ", is to find out, using the analysis of characteristics of community in its traditional and modern form, if an internet discussion forum could be labeled "community". The paper consists of a detailed analysis of the characteristics of community on the basis of scientific literature. Then of the selection of those, which outlasted the transformation from traditional to modern communities. Finally, the conclusion of whether it is possible to accept or decline the statement, that a discussion forum is a community. This conclusion will resolute from a comparison of two "physical" and one "virtual" social group with the respect to the characteristics of the community resulting from the theoretical part of the paper. The reason for the effort to prove the community form of the discussion forum is the subsequent ability to work with it as with a community. This means, that we will be able to expect changes and development according to certain patterns, which are specific for a communities (e.g. that it will keep it's boundaries defining the group to a differentiation of "US" and "THEM", or that during it's whole duration it will grant inclusion and safety to all it's members).
Retrospective analysis of cross-cultural differences in people's beliefs about strategies for getting ahead in life - comparison of the Czech Republic and Russia
Polova, Viktoriia ; Remr, Jiří (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Hynek (referee)
Viktoriia Polova. Retrospective analysis of cross-cultural differences in people's beliefs about strategies for getting ahead in life - comparison of the Czech Republic and Russia Abstract This thesis addresses the concept of getting ahead in life. Life success strategies are the set of subjective values which individuals consider to be important for achieving goals. Even though the perceptions of these strategies are flexible, there is a common pattern presented in different countries and it is changing throughout time. The main life success strategies for both populations of the Czech Republic and Russian Federation have been identified. The similarity of the factor formation can be seen for both countries; however, the variance of the strategies differs. The factor and regression analyses have been used for the identification of the strategies and the attributes which explain them. The paper can be also improved by extending the list of variables of economic attributes and individual social background. These attributes would be beneficial for future studies to fulfil the knowledge of the subject.
Criminal networks: actors, mechanisms, and structures
Diviák, Tomáš ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Hynek (referee) ; Veenstra, René (referee)
Social network analysis is a fruitful approach to the study of relations and interaction between actors involved in organized crime. This dissertation utilizes network perspective to study several cases of organized criminal groups. It is divided into eight chapters. The first introductory chapter is followed by a chapter reviewing the most important network concepts, measures, and models, and their application in the study of organized crime. The four subsequent chapters are empirical studies. The third chapter is a case study of a political corruption network, known as the Rath affair. The study shows that the network consists of different, sometimes overlapping, relations (multiplexity), namely collaboration, resource transfer, and pre-existing ties. The network shows a clear core-periphery structure with politicians forming a dense core and businesspeople occupying periphery. The following chapter studies a case of counterfeit alcohol distribution network, known as the methanol affair. The network structure is composed of two subgroups bridged by one tie, permitting relatively efficient distribution of the beverages. Furthermore, statistical models point out the importance of triadic closure and pre-existing ties for the formation of ties in the network. The fifth chapter tests an influential theory in...

Due to the changing attitudes of seniors and the complex generalization of this category, the work can outline their insight into the use of new media and could also be used as a groundwork for further research of this issue.
Application of Paired comparison method in election research
Lišková, Kristýna ; Jeřábek, Hynek (advisor) ; Krejčí, Jindřich (referee)
Author of these thesis researches the ability Paired comparison method to predict the results in the presidential elections during January 2018 ( the first and the second round). The pair comparison method is based on the assessment of individual candidates in combinations (pairs) where two candidates stand against each other and there is a judge who compares them in all combinations. The author carried out an investigation using three standardized questionnaires. She has applied the method in the first questionnaire and surveyed the actual choice of the respondents in the other two questionnaires. There were 392 respondents who participated in the complete questionnaire surfy and their answers were analyzed and compared with their results of Paired comparison method. The thesis also shows the accuracy of the method and the suitability of the application, as well as the ability to predict the results of undecided voters. The Paired comparison method in prediction of the results of the first round, but was able to estimate the results of the second round. The author concludes that Paired comparison method should be used in several round types of elections or those where two candidates stand against each other. There are also examined the disadvantages and risks of the method.
Strategy of Valorization of the Living Minimum in the Czech Republic
Kočová, Tereza ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Hynek (referee)
Valorization of the subsistence minimum is an important step for the correct adjustment of the entire social system. There is insufficient importance attached to this topic in the Czech environment. This can be confirmed by the absence of research focused on the system of valorization. The aim of this work is to propose and test alternative strategies for valorization of the subsistence minimum in the Czech Republic, which could help to outline further steps for work with this institute in order to improve the standard of living of citizens. The work focuses on testing three alternative strategies. The first proposes a minimum living standard to increase the year-onyear inflation, the second option adjusts the subsistence minimum by expenses of the 20% of the poorest households, and the third scenario recalculates the actual values by subtracting 10% for adults and adding 15% to children. I subsequently tested these scenarios in SPSS on EU-SILC data. The results show that the valorization strategy based on the inflation rate does not really affect the subsistence level and also almost does not change the shift of people above the poverty line. On the other hand, the revaluation scenario according to expenses of the poorest 20% is very effective in increasing the income of the most deprived persons....
