The Core of this Commented translation bachelor thesis is the translation of a scientific text from the magazine Energo, which focuses on the field of electrical engineering, mainly the technology of the power supply. A commentary on the differences between the source text and the target text is presented. The topics of transmitting information, cohesion, terminology and localization are discussed. In addition, particularities of the scientific style are debated.

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the impact of mobile phone technology on Africa. The aim of the thesis is to determine the most influential mobile technologies and their impact on Africa. The first part of the thesis focuses on mobile phone technologies. In chapter delating with cell phones will also be described as applications for smartphones that contribute to the impact on Africa. In the second part, the social impact will be determined in two parts consisting of the impact on education and health, where will be described different aspects of each impact. In the third part, there will be described impact on economy and banking.
Android vs iOS: A Comparative Study

This bachelor’s thesis compares two most popular operating systems in a modern smartphone age. iOS and Android are well known for their rivalry. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to provide a detailed analysis of these two operating systems and to discuss their advantages and disadvantages. The first part of this work frames the concept of mobile/smartphone operating systems and traces the historical development of the smartphone operating systems. Afterwards, it moves on to the history of Apple and Google systems and compares their origin, features, user-interface, hardware requirements, application development and, in general, their way to become the most stable and popular smartphone systems in the world. The second part of this work is focused on analysing survey results. The goal of the survey was to compare preferences of Android and iOS users.
Comparative Analysis of Selected CAT Tools

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find and compare two free-to-use and two paid Computer Assisted Translation Tools. As for this purpose were from the free-to-use field chosen OmegaT and Across, while from the paid category were picked tools MemoQ and SDL Trados Studio 2015 due to the required requirements that these tools fit. Each application was tested and researched under identical circumstances (= with an identical testing file). Afterwards, all applications were evaluated and the better one was chosen.

This bachelor thesis is aimed to examine different types of Machine Translation technology and the history of Machine Translations from the 1990s onwards. The thesis focuses on a more in-depth analysis of statistical machine translation (SMT), a brief specification of neural machine translation (NMT) and also two types of NMT – recurrent neural networks (RNN) and convolutional neural network (CNN). The next part of this thesis is about three applications that use neural machine translation – Google Translate, DeepL and SYSTRAN. This research paper also deals with the evaluation of machine translation (BLEU, WER, METEOR, TER, ROGUE).

It analyses the concept and origin of advertising, its history and categorization. The practical part analyses modern advertisements. The thesis unifies the theoretical and practical knowledge about the advertising and its language.
Artificial Intelligence Poetry

This thesis conducts an overview of existing computer engines that are designed to write poetry texts. It contains information on how to work with each presented application and their capabilities are demonstrated through their exemplary use. The generated writings are analyzed. The operation of these computer programs is explained. Additionally, it includes information about the origins of the idea of artificial intelligence, as well as its more recent technological developments.
Translation Theory of Douglas Hofstadter

The bachelor thesis is focused on the translation theory of Douglas Hofstadter, which is presented in the book Le Ton beau de Marot: In Praise of the Music of Language, where Douglas R. Hosfstadter comments on various styles and approaches of numerous people on the translation of a French poem A une damoyselle malade. These approaches are explained further in the thesis. Douglas Hofstadter then talks about his experience and opinions about translation and his process of translating poetry, which the thesis also discusses. The thesis will than focus on the conversion of the poem A une damoyselle malade into Czech, commentary on these translations and whether it is possible to transfer all of the properties of the original poem into Czech and what problems make this transfer harder. There is also shown a commented on translation made by a program ChatGPT to show the advancement of translation programs. At the end, the thesis will focus on comparison of translations theories of Douglas R. Hofstadter and Joseph L. Malone, their differences and what each of the translation theories is more suited for.
Hacktivism: Politics, Crime, or Fun?

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the phenomenon of hacktivism, its purpose, its impact on society, and the motivation of its participants. The term hacktivism comprises terms activism, in most cases political, and computer hacking, a criminal act aimed at exploiting a computer system. Hacktivists are mostly, like any other activists, organized in groups to effectively achieve their goals. This study focuses on the origin, motivation, and consequences of the hacktivist actions, especially on actions of an infamous group called Anonymous, including exemplary cases from history.
