Language Education at Higher Education Institutions in the Process of Internationalisation
Vlčková, Iena ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Váňová, Miroslava (referee) ; Andrášová, Hana (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to compare the state of reforms of the Bologna process in the Czech Republic and in Germany, and their applications in the study plans in the specialised language education in both countries. The research theme is addressed in a correlation with the situation at higher education institutions in Germany. It is so also due to the fact that at the beginning of the reforms, the German tertiary education institutions faced the same changes as the Czech ones tackle now. The first part of the thesis focuses on the general analysis of the state of the reforms in the Czech Republic and in Germany; in the second part attention is given to the state of teaching of the specialised language at higher education institutions of a non-philological orientation. Professional standard in the improvement of the teaching profession
Suchánková, Květa ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Spilková, Vladimíra (referee) ; Urbánek, Petr (referee)
Many documents dealing with education policy consider professional standard one possible type of teachers' work stimulation. The absence of a document of this type is increasingly being felt in Czech educational environment. How can we support teacher's work in present conditions so that it reaches the highest possible quality? One of the possible solutions is to approach professional standard as a set of quality criteria and indicators that can be used in evaluation. This thesis develops an evaluation strategy using a professional standard that has been specified based on educational goals and objectives and school functions. By connecting quality indicators defined in the aforesaid standard with the components of teacher's professional behaviour (4 I) this thesis has developed an original evaluation strategy focused on teachers' work support. At creation of the evaluation strategy, proposed professional standards are utilised as a formative conception; they may serve namely to specify criteria of teacher's quality. The main purpose of the standards lies in formulation of qualification requirements for entering the profession; however, this specification also allows us to conceive the term of "above standard". The basic methods of the evaluation strategy include: case study, monitoring, interview, content...
Curricular Reform from the Basic School Teachers' Perspective in the Context of Lifelong Learning
Müllerová, Marie ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Píšová, Michaela (referee) ; Urbánek, Petr (referee)
The fundamental change of the role of education, which the last decades have witnessed, together with the present understanding of its role as one of the primary sources of further economic development of humankind as well as a warranty of peaceful development of the human race - which is clearly expressed in the concept of life-long education - must be reflected in current educational structures. It is namely basic education (children from 6 to 15 years old) that should become a qualitative basis of the concept of life-long education and prepare the young generation to face the fact that education will no longer be limited only to formal education, that non-formal and informal educational processes will become parts of education, and that these processes will accompany young people throughout their lives. The aim of basic education is to prepare the young generation to face this significant change, therefore this transformation has become one of the aims of European educational policy. Reflecting the European aims, the Czech Republic chose the approach of converting schools into learning organizations, which is one of the ways schools might develop as foreseen by OECD, and in 2005 the country launched a law-based curriculum reform whose aims were to redefine objectives, content, methods and forms of basic...
The Model of Austrian Fachhochschulen
Caha, Zdeněk ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Rýdl, Karel (referee) ; Váňová, Miroslava (referee)
One of the burning problems of our higher education is an unresolved question of its diversification. The aim of the thesis was therefore to find a well-functioning foreign sector of higher education institutions of a non-university type, which could become an inspiration for us. Neighbouring Austria was dealing with the question of a non-university higher education sector (the Fachhochschulen sector) at about the same time period, in the early 1990s, as our country and therefore I chose Austrian model although their solution was completely different.

Janoušková, Svatava ; Beneš, Pavel (advisor) ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (referee) ; Švarcová, Iva (referee)
One of the necessary fields of pedagogical research in the Czech Republic as well as abroad is the problematic of pupils' key competencies development and assessment. The thesis reflects this problematic and focuses on designing a system of indicators for assessment of pupils' competencies in chemistry basic education. The thesis represents a complex research project. There are several goals in this project, one is to identify meaning and use of basic concepts and their mutual relations, and another is to identify the steps in designing indicators and system of indicators. The main goal is to design the concrete system of indicators for assessing pupils' civic competency in chemistry basic education. Another aim of the thesis is to define meaning and use of basic terms like indicator, indicator hypothesis, indicator system and educational indicators based on a comprehensive analysis Czech and foreign bibliography. The purpose of this analysis is to establish a system of terminology compatible with terminology in other countries which already use indicators or system of indicators use or those which want to use it. The thesis also deals with description of how educational indicators are, or can be designed and how comprehension of these indicators can be included into the assessment system of different parts...

Research Competence in the Teacher Profession and Teacher Education
Seberová, Alena ; Walterová, Eliška (advisor) ; Lukášová, Hana (referee) ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (referee)
The current Czech curriculum reforms facilitate the growing pedagogical autonomy of schools and thus bring about more demanding requirements relating to the professionalism of teachers. Having introduced the Framework Educational Programme for Basic School teachers, together with their school management and indirectly in cooperation with the school council they have become not only creators of the school curriculum (the School Educational Programme) but also its (auto) evaluators. How to define the term evaluation within the context of the teacher profession, still respecting the research domain of educational sciences, at the same time? How to specify the professional research activities of a teacher without downgrading the prestige of researchers-scientists in the area of educational sciences? How to guarantee so that teachers could become bearers of changes and co-creators of knowledge of educational reality, thus participating in the desirable change of the teacher profession status? If a teacher is to be an expert in the educational domain, he/she does not manage without permanent development of the skill of professional reasoning of procedures, results of teaching processes and importance of changes implemented. The prerequisite rests not only in the theoretical and practical understanding based on...
Evaluation in Tertiary Education
Mrňová, Olga ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Semrád, Jiří (referee) ; Švec, Vladimír (referee)
Tertiary education institutions, academic community including students, and other stakeholders, e.g. government educational bodies, accrediting organizations, experts, employers and other representatives of the world of labour as well as general public have been recently focusing on accountability for excellent quality. This apparently global Phenomenon has influenced the Czech Republic as well as many other European countries that have to carry out the whole range of changes in traditional conception of school assessment. Various stakeholders in various countries however have their own perspective about institutional effectiveness and accountability. The best respond to their call for the demonstration of institutional effectiveness and accountability is a systematic institutional assessment and evaluation process, indicating how the institution fulfils its mission and goals. But different institutions in different countries have different cultures, characteristic features and missions. Thus it is meaningful to strive for a common understanding of what řccurs on a global basis, aiming at revealing relations through exploiting the knowledge about specific activities in the specific context of a respective country or institution.
