Coping Strategies with Stressful Situations in Population of Individuals with Behavioral Disorders
Bidmonová, Tereza ; Morávková Krejčová, Lenka (advisor) ; Čáp, David (referee)
4 Abstract The topic of this thesis is the strategy of coping with stressful situations in a population of individuals with behavioral disorders. The starting point of the thesis lies in the assumption that adolescents with behavioral disorders show greater difficulties in coping with stressful situations and react differently from their peers that have no behavioral disorders. The target group of respondents is represented by clients of juvenile correctional institutions, specifically boys between 15 and 19 years of age. Their answers are compared with a comparison group of students from secondary schools that have no behavioral disorders. The strategies of coping with stress are examined through the use of two methods, a questionnaire "Strategie zvládání stresu SVF 78" and the semiprojective Rosenzweig Picture-Frustration Test. The results indicate that the group of adolescent boys placed in juvenile correctional institutions, shows the tendency to resign more frequently and the effort to gain control over stressful situations less often. Contrary to expectations, the predicted search for alternative activities to escape from stressful situations was not confirmed. Furthemore, neither the tendency for a behavior-oriented self defence nor ones` aggresive actions directed at the surroundings occured....

Strategies of managing misbehavior at secondary vocational schools
Houšková, Jana ; Šírová, Eva (advisor) ; Čáp, David (referee)
The theoretical part of the thesis outlines the most important published aspects, which are involved in the development of problem behavior (misbehavior), and present different strategies, how to prevent or manage these situations. The empirical part describes all factors which can cause the problem behavior and depicts how teachers deal with such a behavior. In the research conducted at five secondary vocational schools, in nine classes, was used a method of video analysis of behavior (observation), an interview with teachers and a questionnaire for students. The research confirmed that there are many variables affecting the elimination of misbehavior - teacher's personality, her/his experiences, teaching methods, a subject, a composition and arrangement of a class, a number of students in a class. Respect, authority but also a positive attitude to a student is required in a relation between a student and a teacher. Communication between teachers and students should be clear and should have defined and adhered rules. As the fastest and the most effective strategy of managing misbehavior appears a non-verbal communication. From verbal strategies it is tactical to express teacher's attitudes and feelings to problematic student's behavior, to explain students, why they cannot behave that way, and to use humor...

The creation of the PFT (C-W) users manual
Čáp, David ; Šípek, Jiří (referee) ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee)
The Rosenzweig Picture Frustration Study for adults has never had any created norms in terms of Czech population. Since the time of creation its graphical stimulus material became old and nearly unusable. The purpose of this text is to show the method P-F Study to the readers and than to introduce new graphical material, the emergent norms and new user's manual. Validity and reliability of the new version PFT (C-W) was examined on the sample of 30 students in age from 14 to 16 years. The standardisation was realized on the sample of 100 students in age from 14 to 17 years. The new norms were created for categories, S-E patterns and GCR. Also the scoring and compilation of the scoring blank was adapted. Key words: aggression, frustration, projective method, Rosenzweig P-F Study, user's manual
Czech volunteers phenomenon
Panenková, Erika ; Štětovská, Iva (advisor) ; Čáp, David (referee)
This thesis deals with volunteering in the Czech Republic, focusing on the specifics of voluntary work in medical facilities. The theoretical part provides excursus into the back stage of voluntary work. The first chapter is designed to focus on prosocial behaviour, in particular on the phenomenon of altruism. Additional chapters focus on the topic of volunteering as a whole, including a short history of volunteering, typology of volunteering, typology of volunteers and areas where volunteers currently operate. The basic theme of this part, however, is the volunteer; the possibilities of her/his volunteer activities, motivation, psychological contributions and whole passage through the program from the applicant to the experienced individual. Empirical part deals with two points of view on volunteering. The first is the aspect of the individual - and the possibility of prediction of her/his staying in the program by filling the entry questionnaire, which has been developed in this work. The second viewpoint targets on volunteering in the health services as a system of work and on organizing the voluntary activities. The research is based on the method of evaluation of the volunteering program. Key words: volunteering, altruism, evaluation, choice of volunteers.

The process of constructing social status during transition to new classroom
Brožová, Martina ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (advisor) ; Čáp, David (referee)
The aim of the research was to describe and understand the process of constructing social status during transition from elementary school to high school. The theoretical part focuses on the classroom as a social group, there is described the social structure of the classroom, as well as the most common roles and sociometric positions that occur in the classroom. There are also discussed relevant topics about adolescence and possible ways for exploring social relations within the classroom. In the empirical part I present a qualitative research, in which have been involved five high schools from Prague and its surroundings, N= 104 students. For this purpose two questionnaires were used - sociometric rating questionnaire SORAD and questionnaire mapping experience of the individuals in interpersonal relationships and their satisfaction with the change of the school community. Based on data analysis and interpretive methods, I conclude that social status is constructed in the earliest interactions between members and there is only a little variability. Social status is made up of two categories - relational skill, which is expressed by popularity, and social force, that is expressed by the ratio of power in the group. Competence complements these two categories, this is a specific skill and it's...
