In the theoretical part, I focused on the definition, physiology of pain, its division, diagnosis, pain assessment, therapeutic procedures in pain management, factors affecting pain, the role of the general nurse in the treatment of patients with chronic pain, pain management centres and a general description of the quality of life and the specific quality of life of patients with chronic pain. The empirical part presents the results of a quantitative investigation in the form of a non-standardized questionnaire that focused on questions related to chronic pain and a standardized WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire that assessed overall quality of life and health status. Toxicity of thiosalicylanilides with invertebrate organisms

Thiosalicylanilides are important biologically active substances. They have been used for they anthelmintic and antifungal activity for a long time. In recent years they were tested as substances potentially effective in the therapy of tuberculosis. This Diploma-Study presents the toxicity of newly synthesized thiosalicylanilides. As these substances are hardly soluble or practically insoluble in water, dimethylsulfoxide was succesful as a co-solvent in the experiments. The Artemia franciscana biotest was used as a screening method. These experiments were evaluated after a 24hours period and the EC50 values were calculated. This method is rapid, inexpensive and convenient for pre-screening toxicity tests. The toxicity order for the tested compounds was: 4' - bromo - 3,5 - dichlorothiosalicylanilide (13e) > 3,4',5 - trichlorothiosalicylanilide (13b) > 3', 4'- dichlorothiosalicylanilide (8c) > thiosalicylanilide (8a) > 5 - chlorothiosalicylanilide (12a) > 4'- methylthiosalicylanilide (8i).

Prague in novels of Gustav Meyrink

This thesis deals with the picture of the city of Prague in the novels of Gustav Meyrink. The introduction provides historical background of the German literature in the Czech lands and describes the genesis of a phenomenon called the Prague German literature including its best-known representatives. Further it outlines the life of Gustav Meyrink, including his Prague stay, and the creation of his works. The main portion of this thesis is dedicated to analysis of three novels that are located in Prague, either partially or fully. The individual chapters describe the topography of Prague used in Meyrink's novels and its historical accuracy, characters and legends connected to the city and the general image of Prague as it changes in connection to the plot and the behavior of the characters. The conclusion introduces the comparison of these novels, their common features and differences.

French-Czech Relationships after the French Presidency of the Council of the EU (2009-2013)

The diploma thesis "The French-Czech relations after the French EU Presidency (2009- 2013)" examines the relations between France and the Czech Republic during five years after the French presidency of the European Union in the second half of 2008, which was replaced by the Czech Presidency in the first half of 2009. It is evident that bilateral relations between Member States are influenced by their membership in the EU. The aim of this work is to find out whether we can observe a similar process in the opposite direction, that is, whether bilateral cooperation between France and the Czech Republic contributes to the Europeanisation of relations in the fields of foreign policy, defense and security, justice and home affairs, transport, environment, trade and economic relations, culture, science and education. The work is divided into two main parts. After a theoretical and methodological introduction, the first one treats the evolution of the French-Czech relations in the 20th and 21st century, the largest part of the work is the analysis of key areas derived from the text of Strategic Partnership established in 2008. Generic use of articles in French This Diploma thesis deals with the generic use of articles in the French language. It is divided into the theoretical and the experimental part. After the broader introduction into the issue of determinants, the most important part of the work treats genericity expressed in French by the definite article in singular and plural as well as by the indefinite article in singular. Firstly, the existing research on the subject of generic articles is studied, including the presentation of various approaches and principal theories, then is formulated proper syntactic and semantic interpretation of genericity which is finally verified in the experimental part of the thesis based on the analysis of model sentences. The Development in the Northern Ireland after the Good Friday Agreement (1998-2008)

This bachelor deals with an ethnic and religious conflict which divided in recent years the society of Northern Ireland into two irreconcilable communities. The negotiations brokered by the Irish and the British governments between major political parties in Northern Ireland in the late 90s opened space for a new phase of the peace process which ended in the signing-up of the Good Friday Agreement. The Agreement enabled to set a government and for the second time to reiterate the devolution suspended in 1974 because of the 1969 violent clashes. This work analyses a ten-year-long development in the province after 1998 underlying the political situation, the accomplishment of the peace process and the convergence of the population. Treating the operation of the new institutions based on the cooperation within Northern Ireland, between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and between the Irish and the British governments, in the centre of the attention there is a decommissionning process which has split up considerably political participants and Northern Irish society and has prevented for a long time from dealing a compromise.
