Why the Romani Make no Terrorists: Reassessing Contested Factors of Radicalisation
Kocmanová, Markéta ; Aslan, Emil (advisor) ; Droogan, Julian (referee) ; Lakhani, Suraj (referee)
Research on radicalisation is characterised by an excessive emphasis on risk factors that lead to manifestations of different forms of extreme political violence. This dissertation presents the results of research focused on factors that make communities resilient against behavioural radicalisation. The empirical basis draws on extensive data from 139 research participants from six countries, obtained primarily from in-depth interviews and other ethnographic data collection techniques. Utilising Grounded Theory in Ethnography as the overarching methodological framework, I provide robust empirical evidence to build a unique case of group resilience against radicalisation among the Romani ethnic group. I identified five main factors of resilience that complement each other and work as brakes on behavioural radicalisation in mutual synergy. The factors of resilience are grounded in the organisational ontology of the group, their strong sense of belonging to a community, their propensity to avoid conflict, their ability to forgive rather than seek revenge, and a category of complex flexibility that includes present-time orientation, effective emotional regulation, and cognitive adaptability. I also identify risk factors related to potential radicalisation in the community, mainly the risk of continued...

VLČKOVÁ, Kristýna
The workload of radiology assistants in hospitals and private clinical workplaces is mainly due to the general public's need for more awareness of this field. This bachelor's thesis aims to introduce the reader to the issue of the involvement of radiological assistants outside the healthcare field. The first section of this bachelor's thesis is devoted to bringing security threats, or public terrorism. Terrorism in general is a widely used term, so I will discuss it in detail in several sections. In the next part of the work, I will focus on CBRNE terrorism. Attacks with chemical, biological, nuclear, or nuclear weapons are very popular in the 21st century. Therefore, the history, the mechanism of attack by individual types of weapons, and the effects of their use on the population are explained. Important topics of this work will also be the already mentioned consequences of using CBRNE weapons. The work will contain and explain the concepts of contamination and decontamination of the population, fauna, and flora. The practical part of the bachelor's thesis will be focused on general public analysis, where questions will be answered using a questionnaire, whether the public has an overview of the work of radiological assistants, and whether they see the involvement of the field in a sphere other than healthcare.
Tourism participants' psychological responses to terrorism and related security threats: Geographical conditionality and manifestations
Krajňák, Tomáš ; Vágner, Jiří (advisor) ; Siwek, Tadeusz (referee) ; Daněk, Petr (referee)
Existing literature examining the impacts of safety and security on tourism has paid considerable attention to the role of the psychological responses of tourism participants. It has also confirmed the centrality of these responses in the process of how security threats influence tourist behaviour. However, no attempt has been made to clarify whether the psychological responses are also geographical in nature. The dissertation primarily intends to address this shortcoming by examining the influence of political- security threats. Therefore, its main aim is to identify and clarify the geographical conditionality and manifestations of tourism participants' psychological responses to terrorism and related security threats. The empirical part of the dissertation is the result of several conducted studies published in four journal articles. Therefore, multiple methods of data collection and analysis were used to achieve the main aim of the thesis. The work required a certain pragmatic approach to engage both positivist and more interpretivist methods. Still, consistency between the philosophical starting points and the adopted methods was not neglected, as it prevailed in the treatment of the sub-aims and in the resultant publication outputs. Specifically, the methods employed include a systematic...
