Netušilová, Nikola ; Vančata, Václav (advisor) ; Ehler, Edvard (referee)
The main aim of the diploma thesis was to design and implement a teaching programme for 8th grade of primary schools which acts upon the topic of the neonatal and infant period. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis gives the reader a comprehensive overview of the different stages that a newborn goes through during the first year of his or hers life. In the introduction, the neonatal stage and the postnatal adaptation of a newborn are defined, followed by an examination of the gradual development during the first month after birth. The scoring of the newborn according to Apgar, which takes place in the first minutes after birth, is described in relation to postnatal adaptation. Subsequently, the infant stage is characterized and the psychomotor development of the infant is described with emphasis on the development in each month of the first year of his or hers life. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis then includes the nutrition of a newborn and an infant with emphasis on breastfeeding as a natural way of nutrition. The practical part of the diploma thesis examines the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the teaching programme. The proposed programme includes a range of activities and teaching materials. Furthermore, it includes an analysis of the Framework Curriculum for...
Analysis of the Core Learning Content of the Human Biology Topic in the Lower-secondary Textbooks
Dvořáková, Barbora ; Vojíř, Karel (advisor) ; Ehler, Edvard (referee)
This master's thesis focused on the analysis of core curriculum content in the field of human biology as presented in textbooks designed for the 8th grade of primary schools and corresponding years of multi-year gymnasia. Its main objective was to conduct empirical analysis of the content of textbooks from various Czech publishers to identify the core curriculum or its key concepts presented in these textbooks. A microanalysis of textbook content and an analysis of core concepts presented by textbooks from individual Czech publishers were conducted. The analysis of the core curriculum was conducted based on the identification of important technical terms in the textbook text, removal of duplicates within individual textbook texts, further unification of terms based on their summarizing concepts, and finally, the identification of technical terms that appeared in more than half of the presented textbooks. The results indicated that out of the total number of key terms contained in current Czech textbooks on natural science, only 426 terms, representing less than 17 %, were identified as core curriculum content. KEYWORDS: textbooks, biology, human biology, key terms, core curriculum, analysis
The use of textbooks in the teaching of natural history from the point of view of teachers
KOLAŘÍKOVÁ, Andrea
This diploma thesis investigates which textbooks and other materials teachers use for preparation and teaching while teaching at the 2nd grade of elementary school. The main goal of the diploma thesis was to find out how intensively teachers use textbooks for teaching natural history, and what kind of specific publishers they prefere, what other teaching materials teachers use. And also teachers' opinions on individual components of textbook sets. The research sample consisted of a total of 41 primary school teachers of the 2nd grade, mainly in the South Bohemian Region. As a research tool for data collection, I used the questionnaire survey method. The constructed questionnaire consists of 20 questions that relate to the choice of textbooks, preferred characteristics of textbooks, the influence of textbooks on the content of teaching and the adaptation of teaching texts. The evaluation of results was made verbally accompanied by graphic form (pictures).

Vavřina, Jan ; Chocholoušková, Zdenka (advisor) ; Hrouda, Lubomír (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the problem with invasive species of trees in teaching at the 2nd grade of primary schools. The main goal of this work is the research of natural at the second level of elementary schools with an emphasis on invasive tree species. As another goal, the author set himself to find out, using a suitably prepared pretest, the entry level of knowledge before the actual teaching of this topic. After completing the course, verify the acquired knowledge and compare it with the initial knowledge using the same posttest. Another goal of the work is to acquaint students, through appropriately chosen teaching methods and forms, with the topic of invasive trees that grow near their place of living. The student will become familiar with the basic features, invasive behavior, mapping and subsequent disposal of the selected invasive tree species. In this work, the questioning method is used, where the students, through pretests and posttests, answer questions that reflect the information contained in some textbooks of biology for the 2nd grade of elementary schools. The results in the research part were processed into tables and the data recorded in them were processed graphically for clarity. The results of this work indicate that the topic of invasive woody species occurs only...

Application of the Reading Comprehension Method in the Teaching of Selected Species of Amphibians at Lower Secondary Education
Korečková, Valentýna ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
In my diploma thesis I apply the reading comprehension method in the biology and I focus on selected species of amphibians. Understanding the text is a prerequisite for learning from the text, and it is an important part of understanding the world. This is the reason why I use a multidisciplinary approach and I included reading comprehension methods in the teaching of amphibians in elementary school. In my diploma thesis, I made a research which I examine whether students with learning disabilities will be able to understand the text, or whether they will be more successful in a simpler text supplemented with pictures and graphs. Furthermore, I deal with whether teaching with the application of the reading comprehension method will increase students' interest in the discussed topic and whether these students will be more successful in verifying their knowledge than students who were taught using the frontal method. I have chosen methods to achieve the goals which are: a frontal teaching method, teaching with the application of developing reading comprehension, a test in the form of a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview with pupils. It is a mixed research, where I combine qualitative and quantitative research procedures. This research is implemented at a selected elementary school. The...
