DIY technologies in digital sculpture
Váňa, Dušan ; Lukášová, Helena (referee) ; Sobotka, Jiří (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
This dissertation thesis is focused on the search for the presence of DIY (Do It Yourself) technologies in the practice of digital sculpting, from the beginnings of this progressive way of creation to the present. The work, through three thematic areas, answers the main research questions: What kind of technology is or has the DIY phenomenon been represented in digital sculpture? How have these technologies influenced and are influencing the development and direction of digital sculpture? Within the first thematic area, the presence of the DIY phenomenon in the beginnings of digital creation of a spatial work of art is mapped until the moment of constituting the concept of Digital Sculpture, as a designation of this new way of creation. The second area deals with specific technologies of digital sculpture, in terms of technical tools and their DIY alternatives. The development of these alternative technologies and their influence on the gradual democratization of digital sculpture tools is investigated. The third area examines the creative methods of DIY, which have been integrated into the practice of digital sculpture.
Tanslation and stylistic analysis of five chapters of the novel Swimming by Nicola Keegan
Daněk, Petr ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Grmela, Josef (referee)
This BA thesis consists of two parts. The first comprises my translation of five chapters of Nicola Keegan's novel debut Swimming. The second part, analytical one, contains two sections. One deals with the choice and description of the target language register of this translation and the other one with the stylistic analysis of the translation and the justification of the vocabulary used. The analytical part is based largely on the translational theories of Dagmar Knittlová and especially Jiří Levý.
Systemic and Translation Equivalents of German Adjectives Ending on -frei and -los
Bernasová, Mariana ; Kloudová, Věra (advisor) ; Vavroušová, Petra (referee)
This thesis uses language corpora to analyze Czech translations of a linguistically asymmetric phenomenon of German privatives ending in -frei and -los from three perspectives: translation typology (micro-stylistics and macro-stylistics), Popovič's stylistic adequacy (shifts of expression: intensification of expression, attenuation of expression, correspondence of expression) and potentially intrinsic feature of German privatives to perceive the fact of absence ("privation") as positive or negative. Privatives are adjectives that express the absence of substance or quality that is represented in their first (left) component; in the context of this work they are limited to adjectives ending in -frei, -los, -arm and -leer. In the Introduction the current state of research is outlined and its time and local limitations are explained. It is emphasized that corpus is here used not just for translation as such but also for theory of translation. The hypothesis starts from the assumption that German privatives as phenomena of grammar have no equivalent on this level in Czech; therefore a direct translation equivalent is often missing. For this reason it is also probable that the translator will have to decide for such Czech translation of one German privative that comprises more words or even a whole...

The Problem of Art Forgery
PLÁŠILOVÁ, Lenka
This bachelor thesis will deal with the issue of counterfeit and stylishly imitated works of art, their identity with a focus on theoretical problems that the existence of falsified artworks brings. Firstly, the most famous examples of revealed artistic falsum will be introduced. Consequently, I will analyze aesthetic and ethical problems caused by the phenomenon of artistic falsification. An important part of this work will be formulation of artworks' identity problems, especially in relation to the Anglo-American aesthetics. One of the most important sources for this work will be a monograph by Tomáš Kulka: Umění a falzum (2004) and his conception of dualism in aesthetic theory. In addition to Kulka's approach, I will mention authors such as Nelson Goodman, Denis Dutton, Mark Sagoff and Arthur Koestler. The aim of this work is to evaluate a functionality of presented approaches to the given issue.

Ontology of the aesthetic object and the value of the artwork, reproductions and forgery
RIGANOVÁ, Šárka
This bachelor thesis is focused on issues originals and copies of works of art (reproductions and forgeries), namely problems of constitution of the aesthetic object and its value. In this purpose I compare Nelson Goodman´s theory of autheticity of works of art to Eddy Zamach´s theory of identity of works of art. I compare these theories with Roman Ingarden´s theory of aesthetic object. I am focusing too on influence of non-aesthetic´s informations about artefacts (originals, reproduction, forgery) on constitution of aesthetic object and its judgment of value marginally.
