Social Work within Foster Care

The bachelor thesis focuses on the implementation of social work within the provision of foster care. In the Czech Republic we have two forms of foster care, mediated and unmediated foster care. Both of these forms of foster care have their own specifics, they differ, for example, in the process that precedes placing a child in foster care. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe the social work provided by social workers to foster parents in accompanying organisations, focusing on possible differences according to the form of care provided. In order to achieve the stated goal, a qualitative form of research was chosen, data collection was carried out by the method of questioning, specifically in the form of a semi-structured interview. The interviews were conducted with social workers in accompanying organisations for foster parents in the South Bohemia region. The data obtained in this way were analysed using the clustering method. The results of the research show that the process of accompaniment implemented by the organisations or social workers of the accompanying organisations is different. Both forms of foster care have their specifics, both positive and negative. The bachelor's thesis can be used as a basis for improving the quality of social work with foster parents, and the results can be inspiring for social workers involved in foster family care. Last but not least, the results can serve the general public interested in this issue.

Risk behaviour of children in foster care

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of risky behavior of children in foster care with a focus on the causes and consequences of risky behavior. The first part of the thesis is focused on the characteristics of substitute family care, and in more detail it is explained in foster care, then the thesis deals with the definition of risky behavior, where I explain in more detail the different types of risky behavior, the causes of the emergence and prevention of risky behavior, the role of the accompanying organization and the authority of social and legal protection of children. The second part of the thesis is focused on research, where the main goal was to map risky behavior in children in foster care by focusing on the consequences of their actions.

The Issue of Foster Care from the Perspective of Foster Parents and Accompanying Workers

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of foster family care from the perspective of foster parents and the accompanying worker. The aim of the thesis was to find out what are the positives and negatives of cooperation between foster parents and accompanying organizations and to describe the experience of cooperation between accompanying workers and foster parents. The bachelor thesis has two parts. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts related to foster family care and its forms with emphasis on foster care. Family, its functions and types of families are defined, the concept of attachment, social and legal protection of children is explained. A relatively large space is devoted to foster care, its types and the process of mediation of FC. The last chapter covers the accompanying organisations for foster families, accompanying workers and the services provided by each organisation. In the practical part, qualitative research was conducted, using a semi-structured interview technique with foster parents and accompanying workers. Subsequently, the interviews are processed according to each communication partner. The research shows that the cooperation of foster parents with the AO is evaluated positively, a big role is played by the person of the accompanying worker, especially his personal qualities, the way of working and the overall approach and treatment with the family, because it is, together with the services provided, a decisive factor for the selection of the AO. In the conclusion of the thesis my main findings and the results I have achieved are summarized. I think that this thesis could be considered as a useful resource or information material that could serve future foster carers, accompanying workers as well as students in the field of social work. It could also be beneficial in improving awareness of foster care and accompanying organisations.

The attitudes of foster parents to services provided by nonprofit organizations in Ceske Budejovice district

The bachelor thesis deals with the attitudes of foster parents to services provided by accompanying organizations in the district of České Budějovice. The first part of my bachelor thesis describes the basic concepts like the foster care and family. The aim is to present legal rights and responsibilities which foster parents towards the entrusted child have. I dedicated the second part of my theoretical part to the description of the accompanying organizations and social workers. The practical part provides data analysis from the answers acquired during the semi structured interviews. My goal is to find out whether the services provided by non-profit organization to foster families are sufficiently fulfilled according to the act number 359/1999 concerning Legal Code About Social and Legal Protection of Children. This thesis is also interested in their points of view on accompanying organizations and if they would appreciate or welcome any changes.

Cooperation of foster parents, accompanying organizations and Department of social and legal protection of children on the performance of foster care

This thesis deals with the cooperation of foster parents, Department of social and legal protection of children and accompanying organizations on the performance of foster care. The thesis contains both theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part of the thesis contains four chapters. It is based on an analysis of professional sources. The first chapter deals with the definition of basic concepts, legislative definition and a brief historical outline in the field of alternative family care. The second chapter focuses on the specifics of foster care with regard to the needs of children coming to foster families, defines the rights and obligations of foster parents and foster care benefits. The third chapter contains a basic description of social and legal protection of children in the Czech Republic and defines the role of the Department of social and legal protection of children in the context of foster care. The core of the chapter is the process of mediation of foster care. The fourth chapter describes the work of accompanying organizations and key workers. Education of foster parents

This thesis deals with foster care and fosters parent education. The main aim of the thesis is to evaluate whether foster carers are satisfied with the topics offered and the length of the mandatory continuing education. A sub-objective of the thesis is to describe the biggest problems of children in foster care related to school and school preparation and to highlight these problems by creating a case study. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters and is based on a study of the literature. The first chapter deals with the general topic of foster care and the application for foster care. The second chapter focuses more on the foster carer himself and his preparation. The third chapter focuses on the foster carers' training and the accompanying organizations. The fourth chapter deals with the characteristics of children in foster care and their school and educational problems. The practical section focuses on the research itself. The story of temporary foster care mother: proposals for system improvements

This thesis is a qualitative probe into the story of a temporary foster mother. The thesis captures, analyses and classifies this story into systemic context. It does so with an emphasis on the temporary foster mother's personal experience and also with using personal experience of other participants involved in this particular case - including mine. This thesis is largely a reflection of my own role in this story, it is looking at it from different perspectives that evolve over time. The thesis is grounded in theoretical sources, especially methodologies of temporary foster care and methodological recommendations. Theoretical sources are critically viewed and connected to personal experience. The resulting storytelling, which provides an insight into the wider context of temporary foster care in the Czech Republic, was based on this procedure. Capturing systemic context is used in this thesis to create suggestions for possible systemic improvements.
