Engagement and proactivity of the general public in democratic process is essential for a stable and functional democracy. Participation of citizens in the political environment can be expressed by either elections or by other forms of political involvement. Current research shows that political participation requires skills, motivation to get involved and support of a group of public actors. Million Moments for Democracy is a civic organisation who support and cultivate political culture in Czechia. This work examines the supporters of the civic movement. The results show that the supporters is a group that has higher individual resources, higher political interest and distrust of the government. The supporters of the civic organisation more politically participate, especially in the activities that the organization emphasizes. Skotnicová, Anita ; Šmidrkal, Václav (advisor) ; Kučera, Rudolf (referee)
The 1960s were marked by a large number of demonstrations in the Western world, mostly attended by students. The increased civic activity of the young generation first appeared in the US when students protested against the war in Vietnam. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the events in Vietnam also belonged to important topics, but at the same time long-term problems of the society escalated too. There have been changes at both political and cultural levels. In the second half of the 1960s, a series of stormy demonstrations took place in Germany over this constellation. This thesis focuses on the "Socialist German Student Union" (SDS), which became the imaginary engine of the student protest movement of the 1960s. At the beginning, the work presents a global context, then the main topics and milestones of the development in Germany in the political, social and cultural spheres. Secondly, the development of the SDS is outlined, with an emphasis on the main themes of the association. Then, the course of the demonstrations in the 1960s, SDS activity and the subsequent development after 1969 is analyzed. Finally the work offers an evaluation of SDS success in advancing its long-term goals in the 1960s.

In my thesis I focus on providing perspective on contemporary forms of these activities in the Czech anarchist movement. Using qualitative research method of content analysis based on grounded theory I analyzed two main anarchist periodicals. I identified three main types of activities of the anarchist movement. These activities are intertwined with each other and collaborate with today's civilian initiatives, which provide space for anarchists to achieve their objectives and for the spreading of anarchist ideas among the like-minded people.

This rigorous thesis is focused on possible ways how to implement interesting and important findings from the field called "nanoworld" into the curriculum of science subjects at secondary school. For this purpose the following materials were prepared: an educational text (which also serves as a theoretical base that summarises basic information about nanotechnology and nanoscience), a multimedia Power- Point presentation, a concept of a project "When you say NANOTECHNOLOGY...", a concept of an excursion, motivational and developing interdisciplinary tasks with the theme "nano", two tests aimed at nanotechnology and advanced microscopy techniques (electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopy) and simply demonstrations. The proposed project was tested at two grammar schools in Prague. The excursion was also realized and evaluated. Both the project as well as the excursion met with an average response from students.
