Interpersonal relationship and spiritual growth
Kučerová, Barbora ; Jirsa, Jakub (advisor) ; Jinek, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to investigate the connection between de- veloping relationships with other people and individual effort on the highest knowledge. Its intention is to examine the form of this connection between social and epistemological (or theological) sphere. Through the analysis of M. Buber's work I and Thou and I. Kant's Critique of Pure Reason and Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, the thesis attempts to present and clarify what kind of relationships can we adopt towards the world, other people, and spiritual sphere. Within the scope of these relatioships, the thesis wish to emphasise the specificity of interpersonal relationship. Afterwards, on the grounds of this specifity, it should be shown whether there is any spe- cial mutual dependance between interpersonal relationship and the higher knowledge. However, it might be also shown that there is not such depen- dance or even that in striving for higher knowledge and spiritual growth, it is necessary to surrender all finite things including interpersonal relation- ships. Whatever the outcome of this reflection might be, we are still human beings dealing with everyday circumstances of ordinary life. Consequently, we cannot break loose of involvement in interpersonal relationships as we are repeatably forced to return...
"I and Thou" in the works of Buber and Fromm
Marek, Tomáš ; Pelcová, Naděžda (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
Work will deal with the comparison of two great philosophers of the 20th century. Both connects the fact that they were born in a Jewish environment and fundamental philosophical discipline considered ethics. Therefore, both authors agree in their works devoted to the nature of the relationship, "I - Thou", as one of the most pressing philosophical themes. How is their view of this relationship different? What must we do to meet "Thou"? Can a human have a "I and Thou" relationship with god? How can we recognize, that we are in "I and Thou" relationship? These and other questions will be the main subject of my research.
The role of education in overcoming loneliness
Moravčíková, Ivana ; Svobodová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Mazáčová, Nataša (referee)
The thesis deals with education in the sense of dialogue between the educator and the educated. It deals with the character of this relationship and deals with its influence on loneliness. The work is based on the texts of personalistic philosophers (M. Buber, G. Marcel, E. Levinas, K. Vrána) and is focused not only on how they view the dialogue relationship in terms of its nature but also focuses on what are the causes of loneliness. It turns out that there is an indirect proportion between fulfilling relationships and loneliness, but it is also important to note that a certain amount of our loneliness is natural and it's quite impossible to remove it. One chapter is devoted to each of the selected philosophers of this thesis, in which each personalist is introduced from a biographical point of view and then the rest of the chapter is devoted to the philosophy itself. At the same time, an effort to find a way for the personalistic philosophy that would lead to the process of education is present throughout the whole thesis.

I and Thou Relationship. Death and Immortality in the Work of Gabriel Marcel
Kaletová, Markéta ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
1 Abstract anglicky The topic of my thesis is the important French thinker and playwright Gabriel Marcel. It is divided into four parts. The first part focuses on the main premises of Marcel's "concrete" philosophy and his position towards Christianity and tolerance to non-believers. The second part describes in details his "concrete" philosophy. It is based on the relation to the essence of our being (2) and shows the way, which leads to being through our existence (2.1) by rejecting the mode of possessing "to have" (2.1.1). This part concludes with Marcel's unique concept of body and embodiment (2.2),that finds its true value in encounter with other human being (2.3) The third part deals with Marcel's main relationship concept I-Thou, about its creation, modes and conditions (3.1). Further it shows the difference between real I-Thou relationship and objective I-It relationship (3.2). And different ways of pertaining and disponability(3.2.1). The fourth part is the main point of my thesis. It focuses on Marcel's concept of death and immortality (4.), on his similarity with poet Rilke (4.1). It also shows present "broken world" as a reflection of hopelessness and fear of death (4.2). It also shows how to overcome death in its definitive form by love to other human being, that is the expression "presence"...

The I-Thou relationship of Martin Buber and its radicalization by Emmanuel Levinas
Kroupová, Dana ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Fischer, Ondřej (referee)
In this thesis I explore the relation in Buber's and Levinas's understanding. Both of these Jew philosophers endeavoured to describe an essence of genuine dialogue and both saw in dialogue the word that turns to a Thou, the primal deed of spirit. Nevertheless in spite of these similarities there are also a differences in their understanding of a dynamics within the genuine dialogue. Whereas Buber talks about a reciprocity in such a relation Levinas asserts that there is an asymmetry there and therefore he radicalizes Buber's conception and responsibility towards the other. In the first part of my thesis I focus on important influences on Buber's and Levinas' lives and introduce a "poetics" of their understanding of a genuine dialogue based particularly on their main piece of work: Buber's I and Thou and Levinas's Totality and Infinity. Although there was a communication between these two thinkers according to some philosophers it often exhibited a lack of dialogue and a failure to understand each other. Therefore I outline the similarities and differences in detail in the final chapters. Keywords Buber, Levinas, Rosenzweig, I - Thou relationship, face, reciprocity, asymmetry, responsibility, ethics, infinity
