(Gender-Neutral) Conscription in the Nordic Countries' Armed Forces
Šťastníková, Štěpánka ; Plechanovová, Běla (advisor) ; Ludvík, Jan (referee)
While conscription has been experiencing a modest, albeit notable comeback in the past decade, the emergence of its gender-neutral variant is largely overlooked. Through a comparative case study of Norway, Sweden, and Finland, this thesis explores the reasons that led to or hindered the introduction of gender-neutral conscription in the three Nordic countries. Given the countries' similarities in many areas, the thesis aims to explain why Norway and Sweden introduced gender-neutral conscription, whereas Finland retained conscription only for men. To do that, the three cases are analysed using an original framework based on the surveyed literature, which features the following factors: national security situation, role and character of conscription, its legitimisation, integration of women into the military and thematization of gender equality in the military. On the one hand, the analysis identifies common patterns in the cases of Norway and Sweden across most of the factors. In the two countries, the security situation was perceived to be relatively favourable, conscription was used as a tool for the recruitment of future active-duty soldiers and thus the practice was considerably selective, conscription was reformulated to address changing circumstances, women were integrated into the military...
Preparation of P,N-donor ferrocene ligands by coupling reactions

Title: Preparation of P,N-donor ferrocene ligands by coupling reactions Author: Bc. David Rezazgui Department: Department of Inorganic Chemistry Supervisor: RNDr. Jiří Schulz, Ph.D. Abstract: P,N-donor ligands form a varied group of compounds with wide utilization in homogeneous gold catalysis. This group of ligands uses geometrical features of moieties to which the donors are attached and the difference in hardness of the donor groups resulting in their unique coordination behavior. Ferrocene moiety offers unique geometrical features and flexibility. The chemical stability of ferrocene makes it possible to use various synthetic methods like cross- coupling reactions which are commonly used in organic synthesis. This work describes the preparation of six P,N-donor ferrocene ligands via Negishi cross-coupling reaction and their gold complexes which were further tested in catalytic cyclization of N-(prop-2-yn-1- yl)benzamide and oxidative cyclization of phenylacetylene. The electron richness of the phosphine donor moieties was assessed by measuring of 1 JSeP interaction constant of the corresponding selenides. In this work a general synthetic route to hetero- and homoannularly substituted P,N-donor ferrocene ligands of catalytically active complexes was introduced. Keywords: ferrocen, hybrid ligand, gold...

Solving diophantine equations by factorization in number fields

Title: Solving diophantine equations by factorization in number fields Author: Bc. Maroš Hrnčiar Department: Department of Algebra Supervisor: Mgr. Vítězslav Kala, Ph.D., Mathematical Institute, University of Göttingen Abstract: The question of solvability of diophantine equations is one of the oldest mathematical problems in the history of mankind. While different approaches have been developed for solving certain types of equations, this thesis predo- minantly deals with the method of factorization over algebraic number fields. The idea behind this method is to express the equation in the form L = yn where L equals a product of typically linear factors with coefficients in a particular number field. Provided that several assumptions are met, it follows that each of the factors must be the n-th power of an element of the field. The structure of number fields plays a key role in the application of this method, hence a crucial part of the thesis presents an overview of algebraic number theory. In addition to the general theoretical part, the thesis contains all the necessary computations in specific quadratic and cubic number fields describing their basic characteristics. However, the main objective of this thesis is solving specific examples of equati- ons. For instance, in the case of equation x2 + y2 = z3 we...
Synthesis and polymerization of substituted derivatives of caprolactone
Vrbata, David ; Zedník, Jiří (advisor) ; Smrček, Stanislav (referee)
Copper (I) mediated Huisgen 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition of 4-(piperidine-1-yl)-N-(prop-1-yne- 3-yl)-1,8-naphtalimide (PN) to poly(αN3εCL-co-εCL) of three different molar ratio of αN3εCL was performed. Reaction was succesfull for poly(αN3εCL-co-εCL) with molar fraction of αN3εCL f = 0,22. No degradation of substituted PCL was observed during the synthetic path, therefore the PN molecule is suitable for click coupling to well defined polyester. New aliphatic polyester based on polycaprolactone was synthesized and characterized by means of 1 HNMR spectra and Gel permeation chromatography calibrated with polystyrene standards. The spectra of other two copolymers coupled with PN were not measured due to their low solubility in common organic solvents. Keywords: living polymerization, α-chloro-ε-caprolactone, click reaction
Cluster studies in molecular beams
Profant, Václav ; Dian, Juraj (advisor) ; Kužel, Petr (referee)
In the present work we study properties of clusters of small heteroatomic molecules with biological relevance by several experimental methods based on molecular beams. In the rst experiment structure and dynamics of size-selected charged pyrrole clusters have been studied by means of molecular beam scattering experiment. Small neutral P yn clusters were produced in Py/He expansions and larger mixed P ynArm clusters in Py/Ar expansions, and the scattering experiment with a secondary beam of He atoms was used to select the neutral clusters of dierent sizes. The complete size-selected fragmentation patterns for the neutral dimer to tetramer after an electron impact ionization at 70 eV from the measurements of the angular and velocity distributions at dierent fragment masses. In second experiment photolysis of size selected pyrrole, imidazole and pyrazole clusters has been investigated. Comparison with the photolysis of an isolated molecules and between studied systems has been made. Clusters were photolyzed at 243 and 193 nm and the kinetic energy distributions of the H-photofragments have been measured and analyzed. Finally the mass spectra of the fragments after multiphoton ionization have been measured. The signicant inuence of the cluster environment to the photolytic behavior was observed and discussed.
Electronically dissymmetric ferrocene bisphosphines
Horký, Filip
This Thesis describes the synthesis, reactivity, coordination properties, and catalytic activity of novel electronically dissymmetric bisphosphines structurally related to 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (dppf). First, a methylene spaced congener containing a primary phosphine group, which is stable in the air, Ph2PfcCH2PH2 (fc = ferrocene-1,1'-diyl), was prepared. While studying its reactivity, an unprecedented stable primary phosphine oxide, Ph2PfcCH2P(O)H2, was isolated. The primary phosphine, the corresponding phosphine oxide, dppf and the known bis-tertiary phosphine Ph2PfcCH2PPh2 were studied as ligands in Ru(II) complexes. The catalytic activity of the defined complexes was compared in two ruthenium-catalyzed reactions: cyclization of (Z)-3-methylpent-2-en-4-yn-1-ol into 2,3-dimethylfuran and isomerization of estragole to anethole. Second, the remarkable stability of the prepared primary phosphine oxide called for a detailed investigation of this poorly described class of compounds. As a result, stable primary phosphine chalcogenides lacking steric protection FcCH2P(Y)H2 (Fc = ferrocenyl; Y = O, S, Se) were isolated for the first time. These compounds were studied as ligands in reactions with hard and soft Lewis acids (Zn(II) and Ru(II)), and the reactivity of the P-H hydrogens was...

Basic sequences in Banach spaces
Zindulka, Mikuláš ; Kalenda, Ondřej (advisor) ; Johanis, Michal (referee)
An ordering on bases in Banach spaces is defined as a natural generalization of the notion of equivalence. Its theory is developed with emphasis on its behavior with respect to shrinking and boundedly-complete bases. We prove that a bounded operator mapping a shrinking basis to a boundedly-complete one is weakly compact. A well-known result concerning the factorization of a weakly compact operator through a reflexive space is then reinterpreted in terms of the ordering. Next, we introduce a class of Banach spaces whose norm is constructed from a given two-dimensional norm N. We prove that any such space XN is isomorphic to an Orlicz sequence space. A key step in obtaining this correspondence is to describe the unit circle in the norm N with a convex function ϕ. The canonical unit vectors form a basis of a subspace YN of XN . We characterize the equivalence of these bases and the situation when the basis is boundedly-complete. The criteria are formulated in terms of the norm N and the function ϕ. 1
