Energy transition
Pilot project on flexibility management at LV level
Sýkora, Jan ; Pilař, Martin (referee) ; Radil, Lukáš (advisor)
The thesis deals with the topic of flexibility, especially on the demand side. It includes the definition of terms related to the issue, the basic principles of operation and possibilities of use. The main researched branch of the study is the usage of the flexibility potential of heat pumps. The work is based on real data from a pilot project executed in the winter of 2021/22, which examines the portfolio of households with a heat pump and observes the possibilities of using flexibility, its management and especially the impact on load change depending on the estabilished baseline.
Renewable Energy Sector in The Republic of Serbia: Constraints in Renewable Energy Market Development
Drobnjak, Marina ; Svoboda, Karel (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
This thesis analyzes the challenges associated with the countries in socioeconomic and political transition when on the path of integrating into the developed world unions or on the path of fulfilling projected renewable energy targets. As an example country, or as a study case here, The Republic of Serbia has been selected. The thesis addresses the question of how the Renewable Energy Market in Serbia is developing and how are the challenges being addressed. Thesis reveals that main obstacles come from the ownership of the energy and the power gird assets which are still entirely owned and controlled by the State. Due to this fact it is hard to introduce the planned renewable projects, mostly to be developed and owned by foreign entities, and at the same time to be forced to reduce domestic power production out of the thermal power plants. However, by being on the path to the EU, the renewable energy targets and the RES (Renewable Energy Sources) market have to be accomplished and the government has to show full legislative and policy support. It is also realized that there is a significant discrepancy between the "say and do" in the case of The Republic of Serbia, at least so far. The thesis highlights the important driving factors that, despite of the local resistance and sluggishness,...
Alternative and renewable energy policy in Europe
Orujov, Faig ; Ščasný, Milan (advisor) ; Střítecký, Vít (referee)
Driven by the fact that the global oil market has become extremely volatile and the EU dependence on oil continues to grow, this paper argues that with more emphasis on renewable energy and by using domestically produced alternative energy sources instead of importing foreign oil the EU Member States would drastically improve their energy security and energy independence. The study investigates both past and present trends in the EU energy sources supply and consumption patterns. Additionally, the paper considers possibilities of the renewable and alternative energy both at the current stage and future development of this sector in the EU. The research findings confirm the initial hypothesis as to whether the share of alternative and renewable energy will be sufficiently large to contribute to solving a problem of the EU energy security and independency. The role of the renewables in national energy security strategies of three EU Member States is studied and government supporting policies that enhance renewable sources development are analyzed.
Office building
Výborný, Vojtěch ; Stránská, Zuzana (referee) ; Struhala, Karel (advisor)
This master´s project deals with design of an office building nearly zero energy standard. My master´s project consists of three parts. In the first one I work on technical design of the office building. It is a three-storey building with partial basement. Vertical load-bearing system is partially made from monolithic concrete walls and partially from clay blocks walls. The horizontal load-bearing structures are made of monolithic concrete slab. All roofs are designed as flat roofs. In second part I design all technical equipment in this building. In the last part I compare three types of roof, photovoltaic power plants and evaluate their environmental impact. First type of PV power plant is made by monocrystalline solar cell, second one by polycrystalline solar cell and last one by monocrystalline solar cell with battery system. Environmental impact of these systems is evaluated in Open LCA software. All structures comply with the valid standards and regulations.
Negative Electrode For Sodium-Ion Batteries
Šimek, Antonín
This thesis is mainly focused on research of electrode materials for negative electrodesof sodium-ion batteries, which do not use lithium for their function. It is mainly focused on thesynthesis and characteristics of sodium metatitanate, which is used as active material in negativeelectrode mass.
Biomethane production in biogas plants
Matoušek, Jakub ; Miklas, Václav (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the production of biomethane in biogas plants. The introductory part presents the operation of the biogas plant, its inputs, components, and products. The main part of the thesis deals with the perspective of biomethane in the Czech Republic and Europe and progressive technologies for the conversion of biogas to biomethane. The basic principle, advantages and disadvantages of each upgrade method are given. Common technologies at the level of commercial readiness include high pressure water scrubbing, organic physical scrubbing, chemical scrubbing process, pressure swing adsorption and membrane separation. The mentioned methods of biogas upgrading are evaluated and compared with regard to their practical applicability in the Czech environment.
Off-grid homes
Plhal, Matěj ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes the principle of off-grid houses. It focuses on technological solutions of high-quality housing even without connection to public utilities. Primarily, it depicts suitable energy sources, heating options and water management. The practical part of thesis deals with the energy design of an off-grid home.
