The media coverage of topics related with education in the national daily press and televisions and attitude of parents

The aim of this thesis is to analyze how selected national newspapers and television inform the public about education and schooling. Four national newspapers, namely MF Dnes, Deník Právo, Hospodářské noviny and Lidové noviny, as well as four television stations: CT1, CT2, CT24 and TV Nova, were subjected to a quantitative content analysis. The whole research focused on outcomes of 2012. Firstly, it was necessary to describe different views of the definition of education. In addition to the definition of pedagogical focus, dictionary definitions, definitions of historical and ideological nature, we outlined how education is being perceived by selected opinion leaders, followed by an insight into the history and present state of the Czech education system. The results of the quantitative analysis confirmed the hypothesis assuming that media coverage of education and schooling is not sufficient. The media mainly deal with administration, activities of the Ministry of Education and other sub-themes that have nothing to do with what students learn in school within individual subjects. Finnish media landscape - print media

Bachelor's thesis aims to describe the structure of contemporary print media in the Republic of Finland and the way they function. It focuses namely on the periodically issued print, i.e. newspapers and magazines. The introduction part contains a brief outline of historical background of the Finnish media system and thereby delineates the rise and development of print but also of other media in this country. Next the thesis describes the main characteristics of the said system relating it with economical, social and political bases. Third part of the text covers more specifically some of the present- day titles and their position within the Finnish print market. Internet and its influence on print media in Finland are dealt with in the final part of the work, which also in this context attempts to describe a possible future outlook of the Finnish press. The purpose of this thesis is to present a comprehensive summary of the Finnish print media and of their place within the Finnish media landscape.
The working class leaders sight upon the development of the labour movement in Bohemia lands, 1870 - 1890

The actual focus of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the memoirs of labour leaders. Interpretive emphasis is placed on the use of socio-historical, politico historical and culture- anthropological approach of the topic. Therefore, the author focus mainly on the formative experiences of the author's memoirs, i. e. on their experiences with social, cultural, economic and ethnic background and environment, especially the experiences of poverty, humiliation, disqualification of social progress, exploitation by employer, gender and spiritual oppression. Supplementary source is the analysis of newspaper articles in contemporary periodicals. Methodological suggestions will be drawn from literature.
Kramerius' Newspapers in the Years 1790 - 1793 and Their Role in Shaping the Czech National Identity

This thesis deals with problematic of public space at the edge of modernity in Kramerius newspapers in Czech. The first part gatheres together the results from existing research literature, discusses the question of the relationship between modernity and postmodernity that leads to the theoretical and methodological background of authors approach. The second part deals with the influences that shape the final content of Kramerius' Newspapers. Newspapers are seen as part of a broader discursive network. It is also the reader, who gets a word in a process of establishing the final content. Among other, this chapter focuses on the issue of creating a community of readers and the public sphere in Bohemia in the late 18th century as a preconditon for ethnic or even the national identity. The last part concentrates on specific topics in Kramerius' Newspapers, the reporting and processing techniques, which aim is to shape the reader and his view on observed events. The work ends with a statement that Kramerius' Newspapers by the content as well as form created a wider readership community, which maintained a certain social ties and also shared a certain form of the public sphere. This diploma thesis "Structure of Trade-Union's Press Between 1948-1956" is focused on the period from 25th February 1948 till 26th February 1956. The first part is mainly focused on the situation within this period. Firstly it was needed to mention the historical background with focus on the official state policy. This thesis describes also the development of The Revolution Trade-Unions (ROH), which was done in its way as reflection on the state policy. For the better understanding there is described the situations of the Czech press in generally, as trade-union's press reflected that as well. The second and third part is firstly focused how trade-union's press was working; it means its organisation-structure, distribution, promotion or archival-collection-process. This work is concerned also on the editorial site - there is focus on the redactors and their tasks. As the examples of redactors there are mentioned two personalities: František Dvořák and Jiří Síla. Both of them did significant work for trade-union-press and it is interesting to put the light on their lives within 1948-1956. Rural section of Bohemia newspaper

The diploma thesis "Rural section of the Bohemia newspapers in 1856 - 1876" analyses the thematic content and news frequency from the countryside and places that the German written newspapers Bohemia published during the introduced period. In the beginning the thesis describes the historical, cultural and political connection in the Czech countries, it focuses mainly on Czech-German relationship and national problems that grew after the year 1848. It introduces the media area of this period as well. The main titles and newspapers distributed in Prague and German places have been mentioned there. Bohemia played the main role in integration of German population especially till 50s. Consecutively, it grows the number of other titles and periodical, so Bohemia loses its strong position. Exodus of East German refugees in Prague 1989 and its reflexion in the official newspapers in GDR and CSSR

The bachelor thesis entitled "The East German Exodus in Prague in 1989 and its Reflection in the Official Press of the GDR and CSSR" deals with the development of the East German exodus in Prague in 1989 and its reflection in Rudé Právo and Neues Deutschland. The objective of the thesis is to outline the situation in the GDR during the Honecker era (1971-1989) and to introduce the related phenomenon of occupation of German embassies in the 1980s. The following part of the thesis discusses the individual development stages of the East German exodus in Prague in 1989. The final part of the thesis examines the reflection of the refugee phenomenon in the above mentioned periodicals in the period of September 5 to November 7, 1989.

The bachelor thesis "Passing The Iron Curtain via Prague - the first wave of refugees from the GDR in autumn 1989 in the West German embassy and the portrayal in the Czechoslovakian press" deals with the topic of refugees in the West German embassy in Prague in the year 1989. It focuses on the first of three refugee of refugees in the late summer and autumn 1989 which took place from August to September 1989. Concerning the first wave of refugees in August and September two aspects are being analysed in this bachelor thesis which influence the structure of this scientific paper. The first part deals with the role of representatives of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic during the first refugee wave and how they reacted to the events in the embassy. This part draws especially on documents from Czechoslovakian archives because the Czechoslovakian role in these events has been kept secret from the Federal Republic of Germany. Newspapers in public libraries

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to find out how the activities concerning daily press go in five selected public libraries. In opening chapter the examined branch is delineated by definitions of used terms, previous adaptations of this topic are summarized, and methodology of research based on interview and surveys is introduced. Hypotheses are expressed in the last part of this chapter. In the second chapter all the Czech national daily press is characterized and their internet activities are documented. If those titles have an electronic version, it's functionality is examined in this part of thesis. Chapters 3 and 4 present results of research which was done at five libraries of various sizes.The third chapter presents selected libraries and it describes the workflow of purchasing the press in those organizations with a special emphasis on the process of choosing the material. In the fourth chapter the preferences of readers in selected libraries and the intensity of their interest over time are examined. This part of dissertation also includes analysis of other activities concerning press such as cataloguing and displacing journals. Third and Fourth chapter are closed with summarization of detected facts. In the conclusion assigned hypotheses are confirmed or disconfirmed.
Beginnings of czech sport journalism at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. Sport as a part of czech press.

This dissertation is the very first scholarly text to bring a wider perspective on the genesis of Czech sport journalism, starting with its beginnings in the latter half of the 1800's and extending to the year of 1918, when this profession became an independent branch of the newspaper business. Given the paucity of original literature, the present work is based primarily on the study of period newspapers and archival materials, employing mainly the direct and the indirect methods of historiography. The main purpose of it was to describe the formation of the discipline of sport journalism in the broader context of the Czech society, sports and media, rather than regarding it as an independent, isolated process. The constituent parts of this dissertation, which renders the dawn of Czech sport journalism, include the most important titles of the day as well as the key personalities in the publishing and journalism of the period, the issue of sport reportage within the established political press, and also the genesis of the professions of sport journalist and sport photographer. The chapters that place the main theme within a wider historical context compare the brief description of the evolution of sport journalism in the Czech lands to the origins of sport journalism in other countries (Great Britain, USA,...
