Neovolcanic Rocks of the SW part of the Most Basin in the area of Tušimice power plant open pit
Sobotka, Martin ; Kachlík, Václav (advisor) ; Novotný, Tomáš (referee)
Diploma thesis deals with geological, petrological and geochemical studies of neovolcanic rocks of the SW part of the Most Basin in the area of Tušimice power plant open pit. There are two lava flows affected by coal mining in northern part of the mine. Petrological and geochemical studies with K-Ar dating relatively recent rocks in mostly weatherworn volcanic rocks showed, that they can be classified as Ti-rich basaltic rocks without olivine (tephrites), which belong to the main volcanic phase in the evolution of the Eger graben. It was evidenced geologicaly and with K-Ar dating, that studied rocks were seperated from underlying beda by hiatus which caused erosion of volcanic rocks as well as crystalline bedrock. Mmajor and trace elements composition of co-magmactic volcanics showed that rock were derived from two slightly different sources of upper mantle. Composition of two samples indicates the formation from low degree of partial melting strongly metasomatic asthenospheric mantle. Chemical features of volcanic rocks show that mantle source was comparamble to recent OIB basalts. Last sample arose from less metasomatized and depth distincted mantle which was affected by higher level of partial melting. Melts from which crystallized both rocks were minimaly affected by asimilation or...
Chemistry - Geology relatives in the Science education
Kálalová, Anna ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (advisor) ; Teplý, Pavel (referee)
In my bachelor thesis I fixed myself on inter-subject relations between chemistry and geology in natural sciences in grammar schools. I looked up this theme in curricula for grammar schools and I made chemistry and geology school-books research. I selected several usual minerals and rocks with useful chemical composition and I wrote chemical and geological information about them. I found chemical experiments with this chemical substances, modified them and did them.
Students' Professional Activities as the motivation of talented pupils to study Earth Sciences
Koďousková, Lucie ; Jedličková, Tereza (advisor) ; Janštová, Vanda (referee)
The thesis focuses on Students' Professional Activities and its influence on high school students who participated. The aim of the thesis was to find out, how attending the competition in category Earth Sciences can influence students when choosing either field of study at college or future job. The thesis is divided into two units. Theoretical part deals with teaching geology on high schools and projects in Czechia and Slovakia that enable high school students to educate in geological fields. Special chapter about Students' Professional Activities is included. Practical part describes qualitative research which consisted in interviewing contestants and consequent analysis of interviews (coding, categorization). Interpretation was made by narrative approach. Results in the form of answered research questions show that attending the competition has significant positive influence on the contestants. In conclusion, both benefits and imperfections of Students' Professional Activities are summarized together with suggestions on better popularization of geology among students. Key words: geology, qualitative research, interviews, Students' Professional Activities, Earth Sciences
Science Camps as the Possible Way to Increase Pupils' Knowledge, Skills and Interest in geological topics
Pražáková, Martina ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Švecová, Milada (referee) ; Fančovičová, Jana (referee)
This dissertation focuses on non-formal education. It describes science camps with a geological topics which are non-formal events that may be visited by children and youth during their initial education. The aim of this thesis is to describe concepts of science (geological) camps and learn about the specific knowledge, skills and interests of their participants in the field of geology. The thesis is introduced in four independent studies which describe a completed mixed research and a solution by the researched targets. Camp groups from five non-formal educational institutions in the Czech Republic were examined. The analysis of camp concepts took place with instructors (N=21) during ten camp sessions. Thereafter two alternative content of camps were established: a field laboratory concept and a concept with equally represented focus on the participants' activity. In this part of research the questionnaires with open-ended questions were used, which were directed at instructors' statements about scientific and educational activities of participants. A data collection for the analysis observing specific geological knowledge, skills and interests of participants always took place at the beginning and at the end of the nine or ten camp sessions. Questionnaires (N=143 knowledge, skills; N=138...
Geologická a dendrologická charakteristika Javornického lomu
Hemr, Ondřej
The main goal of this bachaleor thesis is geological, pedological and dendrological research in Javornice quarry. It's extraction has temporarily ended in 1998. The quarry is located a few kilometres to the east of Rychnov nad Kněžnou in the foothills of Orlické hory. The spot is going through an intense succession for the last two decades which represents appropriate moment for evaluation. Theoretical body of the thesis consists of wide-ranging literary characteristics of the spot: position, history of extraction and prospection, climate and phytogeography classification, vertical-horizontal classification, bedrock characteristics, soil classification, geomorphology and ecological relationships. The research body of the thesis consists of chemical analysis of soils developed after the end of extraction on the bedrock with particular regard to toxic elements such as arasenic, zinc, lead, mercury etc. In the next phase a research body of the thesis follows generic composition of woody plants occupying the spot and analysis its presence on a particular distinguished habitat.
Návrh zvýšení rekreačního potenciálu národní přírodní památky Panská skála a jejího okolí
Marek, Jakub
The subject of the diploma thesis is the elaboration of a proposal for increasing the recreational potential of the national natural monument Panská skála. All work can be divided into two sub-sections. In the first part, the subject of recreology and educational trails is in the form of literary research described. The second part focuses specifically on the solved locality. Here the field of the area was mapped out in the form of a field survey and a proposal for a new solution of the site was created.
Vliv geologických a půdních podmínek na kvalitativní parametry vín
Kupsa, Jan
Aim of this thesis was to answer question how big is influence of geological and pedological conditions on qualitative parameters of wines. Four sites with variety Ryzlink rýnský have been choosen on vineyard Velká Vendule in Velké Žernoseky based on differect pedological a geological characteristics. Site have been closely described from pedological point of view. Wine samples from vintages 2012 to 2014 have been made from every site via unified vinification so 51 wine properities could be measured. Results have undergone canonical diskriminant analysis. It was found content of elements in soil isn't in clear relation to content in wine, mainly because different climatic conditions each year. In spite of this it was possible to clearly separate all wine samples by sites by chossing selected parameters (D/H)II, 13C, B, Ca, K, Mg, P, catechin a trans-piceid. They could be therefore called markers for tracking wine authenticity in relation to geological and pedological conditions.
Methods and Concepts of Teaching Geology at the Selected Primary Schools at the Ústí nad Labem Region
Lupińská, Lucie ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
This MSc. thesis analyzes the attitude of 9th grade students and their teachers to geology, which is taught at lower secondary schools most often in the course of natural history. The thesis examines the connection between the teacher's interest in the subject and teaching forms, difficulty level of the subject and the student's interest in the subject. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the pedagogical terminology, concepts of the teaching, discusses special aspects of the teacher personality and specifics of geology as a scientific field of the subject in the education system. The research part is dealt with the description of the questionnaire and its evaluation, further it summarizes and discusses the results of the questionnaire survey among 202 students and 21 teachers from 10 elementary schools in the Ústí nad Labem Region. The questionnaire survey shows that teachers and students consider geology an important subject in terms of general education and possible use in practical life. It has also found that students do not take in geology as an interesting subject, but thanks to the creative teaching approach and using of variable methods by their teachers the geology has become acceptable for them. The teacher's personality and his/her creative teaching approach and methods are...

Drazdík, Filip ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
Černokostelecko as a didactic space Filip Drazdík Department of biology and environmental studies Ing. Jan Andreska, Ph.D. Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with how to use the geographical area of Černokostelecko for didactic purposes and above all what are the most interesting biological localities, in what time of year it is best to visit them and what we can demonstrate to them. One of the main advantages of the whole area is that it lies in close proximity to the capital city of the Czech Republic and therefore it is very easily accessible. As a further advantage, I would like to mention that there are no mountains or valleys of some wild rivers in the whole locality, and it is also quite densely populated, so there is no dangerous wilderness, so educators do not have to worry abou any extreme danger. All the excursiones mentioned in this work I have attended with the pupil of the first level of elementary school and they did it all perfectly. Educators really have nothing to worry about. Despite the fact that it is quite densely populated, it is also an area with a lot of naturally interesting places, which is definitely worth a visit. Many of the local natural (zoological, botanical and geological) point of interest are unprecedented anywhere else in the Czech Republic. This topic is elaborated in...
