Title: Physical and leisure activities for seniors in Prague 6 Objectives: The aim of the master thesis is mapping programs in leisure and outdoor exercise options for seniors in Prague 6 and then suggest their improvements. Methods: Case study, personal interview, content analysis, analysis of primary and secondary data. Results: Analysis of physical and leisure activities for seniors in Prague 6 showed the wide range of programs for seniors. Barrier and motivation of older people in the use of this offer has been especially their health. Based on the information were designed measures for the city of Prague 6. The life of seniors in different types of settlements in Vysočina Region

(in English) The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare selected aspects of life of seniors living in different types of settlements in the Vysočina Region. The compared settlements are the county town of Jihlava, the former district town Pelhřimov, and Kamenice nad Lipou which is a municipality with an authorized municipal office. The work consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with terms related to senior age, the elderly, meaningfulness of life, active ageing, and demographics of the Czech Republic. The main sources used were reference books, Fram planning documents and other documents from the areas of the research. The practical part contains the actual research, which consists of a semi-structured questionnaire and a personal observation of specific age groups of seniors in the monitored areas. The outcomes of the research describe availability of social and health services in the settlements, aspects of life which are important to seniors and ways the requirements for the quality of life of seniors in those locations are fulfilled. European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 in Czech Republic and Germany

The aim of thesis European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 in Czech Republic and Germany is to describe and compare the approach of these two countries to the said initiative of the European Union. The society increasingly has to deal with the effects of demographic aging, which affects not only the seniors, but also other members of the population. It affects both the economy and life in larger or smaller communities. International organizations devote a lot of attention to this issue. The European Union is not an exception. It initiates various actions in order to accomplish set targets for member countries. One of the most prominent was the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012. Author focuses on the comparison of positions between the two neighboring countries, ie. mainly to set out specific objectives and measures, which would help these goals were fulfilled, all in accordance with the European Union. It reveals not only differences which may be between the Czech Republic and Germany in this regard to find, but also some common elements. Part of this work is the description of the impact of Europeanization, which has recently been talking more and more often in the context of the European integration process.
The Effectiveness of Cognitive Support for Seniors in the Context of Viewing the Old Age

The present Rigorous Thesis treats the cognitive function training and physical exercise of seniors in the context of viewing the old age. It touches upon the problematic of active ageing which is highly relevant nowadays. The theoretical part deals with current findings and results of studies mainly with regard to cognitively healthy seniors. The practical part represents a questionnaire-based analysis ascertaining how the adult population across the age spectrum evaluates selected abilities of elderly individuals and, furthermore, it represents research determining the subjectively perceived effect, both short and long-term, of combining the cognitive function exercise, also known as a memory training, and the physical exercise in cognitively healthy individuals at senior age. The Issue of Demands on Seniors and Lifelong Education

Annotation: In this diploma thesis I present different forms of socialization of older adults and I also describe ways of patient activation, especially concerning their availability and importance. The theoretical part discusses old age and its general characteristics also mentioning demographical changes and consequences of population ageing. In this part I deal with whole life education and activation of older adults as well. Quantitative questionnaire in the practical part is focused on leisure of the older adults living in Prague and also on the offer of activities accessible by elderly people in general. I analyse the attitude of older adults towards this offer and their evaluation of specific activities. Finally, I found several motivating factors of active attitude towards ageing and, on the other hand, I reveal some of those determining passivity and disengagement of senior citizens.
Possibilities and utilization of wellness by seniors.

The second practical part deals with elaborating the results of the research. The research was based on the form of questionnaire which was presented to seniors in the location. The focus of the research was how much are the representatives of senior population familiar with the term wellness, their preferences of wellness, how they evaluate wellness possibilities for senior in Prague district Praha 7 and to what extend they make use of the possibilities. During 2016 was performed the observation of the offer and availability of information about events organised for seniors in Prague 7. The data gained from the research questionnaires were elaborated into tables and graphs followed by a commentary, which gives evidence not only about the relation of seniors to wellness activities, but also about the senior population´s approach to own health.
Concept of Age Management in Organizations in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis summarises current approaches to age management, or human resources management taking in account the age and skills of employees in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of this paper deals with the background of this concept, describes the present demographical development, its consequences in the labour field, and the problem of aging population which is visible in the need to adapt applied management strategies in organisations to this trend. There are mentioned several programmes, thoughts, and legislative measures on which the newest concepts and strategic plans in Europe and the Czech Republic are based. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on a specific level of organisations, and consists of two surveys. The first one is a comparative case study for which data were collected in two organisations which have recently implemented measures stemming from age management strategies. These measures are then specified and confronted with the statements of the employees who, in semi-structured interviews with the author, talked about the changes that were put into practice under the concept of age management, and about the discrimination of persons over 50 years of age on the labour market. This diploma thesis deals with the representation and categorisation of old age and elderly care and their changes in media discourse of daily newspaper Blesk. Theory focuses on definitions of elderly and description of seniors and practices of elderly care in the Czech Republic. It describes changes of old age discourse in connection with the development of social policy and expert knowledge. It describes the concepts of representation and categorisation and their possible impacts in the form of stigmatisation, stereotyping and ageism. It discusses media as resources of symbolic power, ideology and discourse and sets out media representation of elderly. Related empirical part is based on qualitative discourse analysis of articles from Blesk in years 2007 and 2011. It discusses the outcomes with respect to changes of discourse and representation, stereotypes and active old age. It distinguishes three types of senior representation - like normal, stigmatized and active. Thematic distribution and stigmatisation of elderly constructs symbolic subordination of elderly as a population category. Care is described only rarely and isn't offered as the solution of the elderly's frailty.
Seniors and active aging in the seniors'house in Ostrava

Demographic aging of population brings a number of needs, demands and changes in many areas of social life. In this case, Czech Republic has accepted several documents which also contain National Programme of Preparation for Aging for 2003 - 2007, and then for 2008 - 2012. This document regards to the concept of active aging and old age, which was accepted by the World Health Organization in the 90's, defined as a process of health quality development, seniors' social participation and the entire rising of a quality of life in an old age. The activity becomes desirable and proper way of the seniors' life. The diploma project is focused on the seniors' activities, specifically on the offer of activation activities and their usage in Ostrava seniors' house. The theoretical part is pursued on the definition of aging and old age, physical, mental and social changes and the science disciplines, which are focused on those. Besides, it deals with social services, closer with the seniors' houses, activity and activation in the houses and about the concept of active aging, National Programme of Preparation for Aging and European Year of Active Aging.
