Dissertation Abstract Introduction to the conceptual basis of Vratislav Effenberger's thought (Dialectics of the genesis of the concept of idea models) Mgr. Šimon Svěrák The thesis introduces a reader to the basic aspects of the theoretical system of Vratislav Effenberger, the main theoretician of post-war Czech surrealism. It does so through the construction of a developmental dialectic of the main concepts of Effenberger's work of the 1960s, which culminates in the concept of so-called idea models. In this period, Effenberger primarily addresses the question of the nature of the existential forms of the concept of total meaning in the post-war social and psychological situation. He formulates his reflections as a critical reassessment of the theoretical legacy of Karl Teige and a question of the possibility of further continuity of the Surrealist worldview. The thesis demonstrates that Effenberger first rejects the notion of ultimate meaning, through which psychosocial reality can be grasped as a meaningful whole, and replaces it with a notion of conflict. However, the internal logic of his theoretical system gradually leads him to the conclusion that human consciousness cannot exist without the idea of ultimate meaning and that such meaning exists only in the form of the idea model. Anthology of Unspoken: Surreal Complexity of Mind

The diploma thesis Anthology of Unspoken is a form of personal therapy, a coping mechanism in the shape of an extensive personal research presented by visually eclectic web, which maps the perception of depression and melancholy in terms of historical, artistic, and partly academic discourse. AoU takes the form of a website on the border of an archive and a research blog, which visually reminds a notebook with the use of texts in the form of notes, reader view essays, and accompanying visual material (period paintings, pop-cultural references, emoticons etc.). This diploma thesis has two main goals. Firstly, it represents a way of finding means to articulate and at least fractionally understand my own problems. Secondly, it is a way of finding answers to the following questions: Is depression really a modern matter of the 21st century? Why is it so difficult to talk about it? Where do the shame and feeling of guilt, with which it is inextricably associated with, come from? Is melancholy synonymous with depression, or do these terms differ from each other? And is depression really a disease or is it only a sign of my own failure?

Fairy Tale as a Dream

This thesis presents the psychological concept of dreams and fairy tales and the possible similarities existing between them. Its main source is a depth psychology, psychoanalysis particularly. The thesis is consisting of two parts. In the first part, the theories of dreams and fairy tales are described and the possibilities for their interpretations are given. Then the affinity between dreams and fairy tales is presented including the theory of the Hungarian psychoanalytic Géza Róheim and the Israeli psychologist Ravit Raufman. Róheim assumes that fairy tales represent a social transformation of individual dreams. The development of this idea is: the fairy tales are inducting dreams that would be dreamed, anyway. But they finish better now, with the victory for the child. Raufman applies the methods with which fairy tales have been studied on dreams and defines the affinities between them. In the other part, the similarities between dreams and fairy tales are checked using collected dreams of children aged from 6 to 15. Dreams are interpreted with a special attention to a fourteen years old girl. The thesis also works with the dream of a young woman collected by Raufman. The most frequent situations stimulating defense mechanisms self-concept of pupil and their solution

This thesis deals with the development of defense mechanisms, as shaped by its psychoanalytic origins to contemporary psychology. Next, deals with stressful situations that are seen as the most common possible causes underlying defense mechanisms currently. The work is framed within the school context. It focuses on primary school pupils and frequent stressful situations related to the school environment. In its conclusion, the work focuses on the overall approach to children when they are already in a stressful situation, highlights the ways in these times, children pointing in the right direction and how to approach them if they already apply some defense. Work sums up the issue of defense mechanisms, trying to modernize this concept based on the history and highlights its possible rife among pupils in practice.

Gender relationships in a novel Life is elsewhere by Milan Kundera

This thesis discusses gender relationships in the novel Life is elsewhere by Milan Kundera. The first part of the analysis focuses on construction of motherhood and fatherhood, from which eventually results the positive/negative relationships of the child to the parents and on which we can also see the organization of the parenting practice itself. The second part is devoted to the key issue of the mother - son interactions, and therefore it analyzes the psychoanalytic concept of the Oedipal complex and difficulties associated with it, such as the son's dependence on the dominant mother who in addition fully replaces the absent father. I especially concentrate on the effort of the son to free himself from this dependence and on his consequent search for male identity. Methodologically, my text is designed as a combination of archetypal analysis with an interpretative or conceptual analysis, stemming from the approach of the so called resisting reading. This thesis compares traditional concepts with the feminist ones and applies them on the characters of Kundera's novel.
