Social Exclusion as a Determinant of Health in the Old age
BASTLOVÁ, Lucie
The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to find out in which areas (social relations, health status, civic amenities, financial situation, housing, etc.) seniors over the age of 65 who live in the home environment face social exclusion. In the theoretical part, I defined the basic concepts related to the topic of the bachelor's thesis, which I divided into three parts. In the first part, I dealt with the health factors of social exclusion. In the next part I dealt with the psychological factors of social exclusion and in the third part I dealt with the social factors of social exclusion. In the practical part, research questions concerning the causes of social exclusion in seniors over 65 years of age living at home and activities that lead to the elimination of social exclusion in seniors over 65 years of age living at home were set. A qualitative research strategy was chosen for the research, a method of questioning with the technique of semi-structured interview. The research group was selected using a technique called "Snowball" and consisted of seven seniors who lived in their own households in the district of Tábor. The research revealed a link between health status and social exclusion, due to an unfavorable health condition. The results of qualitative research will serve as information material for the elderly population, which is particularly affected, but also for social workers and the general public.
Initiative Food Not Bombs in Relation to Homeless People
ČESKÁ, Jana
This bachelor's thesis is focused on the initiative Food Not Bombs and its relation to homeless people. The aim of the work was to describe the inner workings of the Food Not Bombs initiative in the Czech Republic and to reflect on the activists in contact with homeless people. Food Not Bombs is a global initiative highlighting inequalities in society through free food distribution. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts related to homelessness, including social services, approaches to social work with this demographic and the current state of affairs. Furthermore, the history of the initiative Food Not Bombs, its operational principles and follow-up activities are presented. The empirical part of the work contains research using the qualitative research strategy and questioning method. Data collection was performed using a semi-structured interviews. The research group consists of eleven informants from the eight cities in the Czech Republic in which the groups operate. The obtained data was converted into text form and subsequently analyzed using open coding and categorization. Based on this analysis, research questions were answered. They aimed to identify differences in the activities of individual teams and how activists perceive homeless people. Several differences were identified between groups from different cities. However, these were not fundamental differences and it can be concluded that the groups agree more than not. Activists perceive the homeless as excluded from society and suffering from material deprivation, often due to the unfair distribution of resources. They endeavor to perceive homelessness as a problem without blaming individual people for it. The groups are characterized by giving equal access to the hungry and striving to help and support everyone without distinction. The work may serve to raise awareness of the initiative's activities and contribute to changing the passive or negative public attitude towards the homeless.

1 ABSTRACT The community circle is a method that teachers use not only for the personal development of their students, but also for building their mutual relationships and the relationshops inside of the entire team. This diploma thesis, entitled "The community circle and its contribution to the development of relationships between students", discusses the use of the community circle by teachers, precisely from the point of view of its contribution to relations between students. The theoretical part defines basic concepts, such as community circle and social exclusion or the climate of the school classroom. The practical part deals with the interpretation of the obtained data on two levels: the impact of this method on the relationships of all students and at the same time the impact on the relationships of excluded students. The research investigation brings information not only about the positive effect of this method on the formation of cultured expression, opinions or communication and social competences of each participant. It also provides information about the fact that the community circle is beneficial for promoting the excluded student and his feelings of belonging to the group.

PROKOP, Daniel. Dynamika sociálního vyloučení v České republice: Nerovné šance ve vzdělávání. Praha, 2022. 124 s. Disertační práce (Ph.D.) Univerzita Karlova, Fakulta sociálních věd, Institut sociologických studií. Katedra sociologie. Školitel: doc. Milan Tuček Abstract This cumulative thesis contains three papers focused on analysis of inequality of educational opportunity (IOE) and limited educational and social mobility in the Czech Republic. The first article analysis effects of parent's cultural, social, economic and human capital in different educational transitions. In accordance with the theory of effectively maintained inequality (EMI), the parental capitals and social status play the biggest role in accessing secondary education with GCE (high school with diploma) which is precondition to tertiary education. However, detailed analysis shows that poverty and low skills (HC) of parents have biggest effect in early phases of education whereas social, cultural capital and wealth of the parents are drivers of inequality in later transitions. Hence, the EMI theory is not in conflict with life course perspective assuming significant and waning effects of (some) parental capitals. The second paper analyses the relationship between inadequate housing and the school performance of children from poor Czech...

The Care Community
Nasrollahzadeh Saravi, Yasaman ; Widholmová, Alžběta (referee) ; Muryn, Romea (advisor)
The aging population along with the growing demographic of urban settlements is one of the main challenges cities face, all over the world. As the elderly population is expected to increase significantly in the years to come, cities, which for most parts are designed and structured with the younger and working-age groups in mind, will have to address and adapt to challenges that follow this transition. Care for the elderly is divided into medical and social care domains. While now, most facilities aimed at this age group focus on the medical point of view, the social needs of this demographic are prominently not taken into account. As a result, senior citizens today, struggle with social exclusion and isolation which have been proven to cause serious health impairments. In addition, separating and relocating the elderly to senior facilities is usually not preferred among this age group and their families. Through understanding and analyzing this demographic, its demands, and challenges, this project aimed towards developing an urban strategy by creating different “care typologies” throughout the city of Brno, so that, by implementing these suggested typologies, the city as a whole will provide care for the elderly as a community rather than dis-placing this rising and fragile age-group to institutional care. These typologies were first determined by dividing the city of Brno into three main parts by considering certain parameters as influencing factors. Then, the different space programs were derived and structured through research and in-person interviews with two of the senior facilities in Brno. As a result, three main care typologies were introduced, namely, the care housing, the day care center, and the care community center. Lastly, locations were analyzed and selected for each typology as examples in the typologies’ individual urban regions. The care housing and the day care center typologies were then developed further into detailed architectural design.
