The Troubles and its current cleavage lines - spatial analysis

Main goal of this work is searching for spatial patterns of The Troubles and analysing of their relation to cleavege lines of contemporary society of Northern Ireland. This work further examines relations between spatial layout of victims of The Troubles and characteristics of brexit referendum of 2016. Analysis was performer using Spearman corelation coefficient. Cleavage line theory was used in this work, which originates in work of Lipset and Rokkan. This work found existence of relations between spatial layout of The Troubles and some factors of brexit referendum of 2016. Current Issues in International Insolvency Law

The PhD thesis "Current Issues in International Insolvency Law" aims to describe and draw attention to the moments that, in the opinion of its author, have had the strongest impact on international insolvency law so far. As such it is chiefly devoted to the analysis of existing regulation in the area of European insolvency law (which is principally based on Council Regulation (EC) No 1346/2000 of 29 May 2000 on insolvency proceedings - the "Old Insolvency Regulation" - and Regulation (EU) 2015/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2015 on insolvency proceedings - the "New Insolvency Regulation"), and also provides a selection of the relevant case law which has over time significantly changed the way in which specific issues and instruments related to this area are viewed. To do justice to the complexity of the subject matter, the thesis also discusses the determination of jurisdiction in cross-border insolvency proceedings and recognition of the effects of foreign insolvency proceedings in relations between EU and non-EU countries. Development and Electoral Success of Selected Populist Parties in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom between 2010 and 2019

This diploma theses presented deals with the development and electoral success of chosen populist parties and movements in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, and a comparison of the electoral success in those countries. The thesis is focused on the period between 2010 and 2019, given that the year 2010 represents a turning point considering election results in both countries. The first part of the thesis presents theoretical background of the study of populism and different understandings of the concept. The minimal definition of populism is presented there, together with three fundamental actors of populism which are then used to identify individual populist parties. The second and the third part of this thesis deal with the situation in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, respectively. We identify populist political parties and movements which are active on nationwide level and which managed to gain substantial results in parliamentary elections in the country or in elections to the European Parliament. Prerogative and Brexit

The thesis deals with prerogative powers and their role in the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. It explains the meaning of the prerogative, shows how British courts employed it in Miller I and Miller II decisions, and outlines their effects on it. The first part of the thesis explains the concept of prerogative. Firstly, it analyses concept's theoretical background in early modern constitutional thought and its conceptualization in the work of John Locke. Secondly, it explains the role of royal prerogative after the Glorious Revolution, as described by William Blackstone and Albert Venn Dicey, and its current position in the constitutional system of the United Kingdom. Furthermore, it introduces a general distinction between two conceptions of prerogative powers - the political (non-legal) one and the legal one - and outlines the relationship between the British royal prerogative, law, Parliament, and courts. Comany Cambridge Analytica influencing the results of political elections around the world

The main topic of this thesis is company Cambridge Analytica and its influence in some of the elections around the world. In theoretical part it explains elementary concepts to understand the second part of the work. The first part contains internet, new media, web ě.0 and social sites, mainly Facebook. There is also a focus on political marketing and it studies scientific concepts like confirmation bias and echo chamber. The second part is introducing the main player of the work, Cambridge Analytica and, furthermore, fluently moving to main affairs - the 2016 US presidential election and brexit the same year. Last but not least, the work focuses on Kenya and Nigeria presidential elections intervention and it touches a possible influence in Czech Republic which is not proven yet.
Partisanship and Political or Opinion Bias in Western Media

This bachelor thesis explores the question of explicit and implicit opinion bias of mass media in the Czech Republic, the Great Britain, and the USA. The first section of this work is dedicated to a brief historical development of media as a party in the public debate, with focus on the 20th and 21st century. This is followed by an analysis and media reflection of the dividing topics in the selected time frame and a closer inspection upon the journalistic scenes in the selected countries regarding their political and opinion biases. The main core of this work is an analysis of the selected media's attitudes towards principal topics of political and societal reality in each country.
Brexit and its implications for European integration

The diploma thesis Brexit and its implications for European integration uses the method of explanatory case study in an effort to analyze the causes and impacts of the Great Britain's withdrawal from the European Union. The thesis therefore examines the historical context of the complicated relations between Great Britain and the European Communities from their formation in the 1950s to the present, which ultimately led to the historic step of United Kingdom's withdrawal from the EU on 31 January 2020. The thesis then maps the negotiations regarding the Withdrawal Agreement and the future arrangement of mutual relations, which took place between 2016 - 2020. The effects of the UK's withdrawal from the EU on the composition and functioning of the European institutions and the impact of the changes on the remaining member states are also analyzed. In addition, the work presents possible arrangements of economic relations between the two parties, which are currently the subject of negotiations between the UK and the EU during the transitional period from 1 February 2020 to 31 December 2020. Emphasizes the role of political marketing as an important aspect affecting the outcome of the referendum, analyzes the channels through which both sides of the campaign communicated with the voters. Data was recieved from books, as well as internet resources. Based on analysis of these points, the thesis reveals the discourse of the referendum.
