Preparation of 19th century poetry for publishing (case study)

This thesis deals with 19th century Czech poetry editing. It outlines, among other things, the historical and social conditions of literature edition of this era and strives to point out all that could have affected the situation of the time and that could have subsequently been the cause of certain editing alterations. The author also tries to think of what a 19th century editor needed to know and consider; what mistakes could have been caused by human factor and/or the author's or external influences. On an example of a short poem from the first half of the 19th century, the thesis attempts to point out the proper and improper alterations together with their necessity or voluntariness.
Journey diary. Animated movie as a way of reflecting experience

This thesis is focused on fenomén of journey travel and Genius Loci. The work is on reflection of experiences in a form of travel journal and analysis of methods used for transfering personal experiences in perspective of search for parallels between literature and fine art medium. In the chapter on applied works, author¨s own animated movie as way of reflecting experience from Barcelona.
Reflexion of the Spanish Civil War in the work of Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell

The Spanish Civil War was an extraordinary event that draught unprecedent attention of intellectuals all around the world. The wast majority of them took side of the Republicans. It was also the case of two writers whose works were marked by the greatest response and to some extent ifnluenced the reception of the conflict by our society. Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell came to Spain with different expectations, they each played in spanish drama distinct role and reflected their experience diversly, however they shared the belief that the Republic is a cause worth to be fighting for. The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the political message of two most important literal accounts that have been written on background of the Spanish Civil War, to describe the circumstances of their origins and publication and to account how the public in Spain, their home countries and also in Czechoslovakia react to them. Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls and Orwell's Homage to Catalonia proof to be a testimony how strong is the bond between history and literature. The popular Spanish images depicted by writers such as Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell have not disappeared, only was overshadowed by Franco's dictatorship.
Characteristic of Czech great people in play "České nebe"

Considering the fact that this bachelor thesis concerns one of the plays of the Jára Cimrman Theatre wchich is based on the mystification, several theoretical information about the mystification is situated at the beginning of the thesis. The core of this thesis deals with the characters that appear in the 15th Jara Cimrman Theatre play - České nebe. The persons are important Czech personalities who are for various reasons admitted to the heavenly commission to decide about the faith of the Czech nation. They are: Jan Amos Komenský, Svatý Václav, forefather Čech, Jan Hus, Karel Havlíček Borovský, grandmother of Božena Němcová, marshall Radecký and Miroslav Tyrš (The last named are not in the heavenly commission. They enter there as guests). Each character is characterized from the perspective of the authors. This view is compared with the characteristics of the characters in the historical didactical guidbooks, in some cases the characteristic of the guidebook is applied to the play. At the end, the real characters from another Jára Cimrman Theatre plays (Blaník, Záskok, Afrika) are more generally characterized. Translation © sl. Kateřina Vokáčová
Journals of teaching history as a practical methodical support to Czechoslovak teachers of history in the period 1948-1970

This master thesis deals with history teaching from 1948 up to 1970. The main focus is not put on the way how the teaching looked really like, but it deals with the teaching methods how history should be taught. The major sources are journals of education for history teaching, mostly Dějepis ve škole and the preceding and following journals. The basic question is whether the magazines could have really helped the teachers in terms of teaching methodology and what was this support like. In the first chapter the history of education is described, the second chapter deals with the journals of education for history teaching. Next is described how a lesson should look like, the whole-class presentation, examination, revision, using a textbook. Special chapter deals with various tools for history teaching, including maps, images, audiovisual aids and literature. Moreover there is covered regional history, excursions, cooperation with museums and archives. In the end the basic question is answered; the journals were able to help the teachers well, many interesting and inspiring articles were in them. Iva Prochazkova: literatury work by methods of drama education

The Abstract My dissertation is dedicated to a characteristic of pupils of primary school age from the point of developmental psychology and mutual relation of this age group and the reading in its teoretical part. The importan part of dissertation are the chapters which are aimed to well- marked personality of our literature Mrs. Iva Procházková. There is an analysis of Prochazkova's creation in my dissertation too. There is a more detailed characteristic of three chosen tituls - Pět minut před večeří, Středa nám chutná, Únos domů in teoretical part. And this part looks into mutual relation between dramatic education and literature. The target of my research is to prove the suitability of chosen chapters for the work in dramatic education. There are analysis of these literature patterns from education's view in the practical part. These titules are made as the projects of teaching lessons.
Present position of CRo 3 Vltava in the Czech media landscape

Anglický abstrakt k diplomové práci Současné postavení ČRo 3 - Vltava v české mediální krajině Present position of CRo 3 in the Czech media landscape Autor: Rudolf Beran 2012 Abstract This thesis focuses on history of the cultural-artistic radio broadcast in the Czech Republic, its starting points and the subsequent changes that have gradually led to the current profiled form of CRo 3 - Vltava. The CRo 3 - Vltava radio station is presented here as a cultural institution coexisting in the framework of public radios of the other European countries. A special attention is paid, among others, to the Vltava's specifics, aspects of the obvious peculiarity this radio station has within the Czech media landscape. Neither can I omit the radio's cultural function of "culture-creativeness", role in the climate of the current society, factual non-substitutability or privileges of the demanding audience. In the individual sections I present, one by one, the key authors and creators who have taken a crucial part in shaping the CRo 3 - Vltava radio station. The thesis is based on a historical-critical analysis and a form analysis.
Body modification in cyberpunk literature

The diploma thesis Body Modifications in Cyberpunk Literature deals with the representation and role of body modifications in selected works of cyberpunk literature. The issue analysis is carried out by means of combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The first part of the thesis covers both areas theoretically and provides essential insight into the issue. In addition, the author develops her own definition of body modification and provides its genesis. In the research part, the author first explores a body of selected literary cyberpunk works obtained through a pilot research, namely novels Neuromancer, Snow Crash, Schismatrix and Blade Runner and short stories collections Mirrorshades and Burning Chrome. Furthermore, the author quantitatively evaluates 503 mentions of body modifications in a given sample, using 25 variables. The qualitative analysis, structured in 7 thematic areas, amplifies the quantitative findings and among other things deals with the role of body modifications in the construction of cyberpunk literary texts and their overlapping with reality. The Bachelor's Thesis A Dystopian Prediction of Inevitable Future in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World is a thorough analysis of Huxley's masterpiece Brave New World. The work focuses on discovery of all the inspiration which could Huxley find in his life, in the society of the United States of America and in other thematically similar works of his time that could be taken as inspirational for writing the novel. Main literary works - Men Like Gods (1923) by H. G. Wells and We (1924) by Yevgeny Zamyatin, that are often mentioned with Brave New World, are analysed regarding possible inspiration in them and compared with Brave New World.
