Russian Poetry at the Beginning of 21st Century
Tiazhkun, Antonina
This diploma thesis is written on one of the least investigated and the least known areas of the Russian literature - contemporary Russian poetry. The aim of this thesis is to propose certain perception of, on one hand, the artistic patterns and contents, and, on the other hand, of the historical, cultural, social and aesthetic significance of the contemporary poetry. The key principles of the current poetic scene include the shift of the literary paradigm, aesthetic pluralism, and variety of the artistic styles. This work consists of three parts. The first chapter describes the theory of the forming of the post- Soviet literature, as well as its state after the second half of the 1980's until the present day, in the context of social, cultural and literary factors. The features and certain phenomena of the current literary process are also discussed within the first chapter. The second chapter examines the main aesthetic trends of the contemporary Russian poetry. The last part of the thesis provides the look upon the problematic and thematic characteristics as well as the stylistic features of the contemporary poetry. The research is based on the analysis of the works of some of the most outstanding contemporary Russian poets, which were included in the representative sample of this thesis: A....

Modern Czech Translations of the Hebrew Bible
Czvalinga, Matěj ; Sládek, Pavel (advisor) ; Žonca, Milan (referee)
Present Thesis focuses on the modern Czech translations of the Hebrew Bible. As the first modern translation we consider Jan N. Hejčl's translation of the Old Testament from years 1914-1925. All translations of the entire canon of the Hebrew Bible are included in this paper as well as the complete translations of books belonging to this canon, which have been published in printed editions. The aim of this paper is to outline the characteristics of the modern Czech translations and to highlight some of their specifics, especially when compared with the preserved Masoretic text. Two case studies appended to theoretical part of the Thesis suggest a possible approach to the study of the Old Testament translations.
Media image of Kosovo in selected Czech press between years 2000 and 2008
Nápravník, Jan ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
This thesis analyzes the quality of three selected Czech newspapers (Deník Právo, Hospodářské noviny and Mladá Fronta Dnes) in Kosovo conflict between the years 2000 and 2008. All together 116 newspaper articles were analysed from January 2000 up to February 2008. The main goal is to find out if the three main Czech newspapers were able to describe the situation in a neutral manner while bringing high quality information, thanks to using the content analysis. The practical part is devided in four parts and in each one the press is analyzed by standarts given and then they are rated by them. In the final summary they are compared and their work is evaluated.
Inverted Totalitarianism
Petr, Ondřej ; Hauser, Michael (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee)
This Master's thesis reflects the theory of American political philosopher S. Wolin. The work introduces the reader to interpretations of S. Wolin's term inverted totalitarianism and confronts it with the common and mainstream approaches to totalitarianism. It is concerned about S. Wolin's reflection on contemporary western liberal democracy as managed democracy. The text pays attention to work of G. Agamben who takes a similar critique on the form of Euro-Atlantic democracy; for instance the thesis deals with his view of state of exception in which the author sees connections on inverted totalitarianism. American - Russian Cooperation in the North Pacific Region
Raková, Alena ; Kozák, Kryštof (advisor) ; Šír, Jan (referee)
The topic of this Bachelor thesis is the American-Russian cooperation in the Northern Pacific area after the disintegration of the Soviet Union. The Pacific areas of both countries, Russian Far East and the west coast of the United States, are close to each other when it comes to geographic location, distance from the political center, history, culture and economy. Russian Far East has at its disposal non-renewable resources, the United States have the necessary capital and technologies for its development. As opposed to the Atlantic dimension of their mutual relations, in the Asian-Pacific region they have similar interests in the qustions of security. Their cooperation in this area thus offers both great potential and a number of pitfalls. This BA thesis analyses the possibilities, development and tendencies of their cooperation, at the background of the American_russian relations of the last twenty years. It focuses on security, ecological and economic aspects of mutual cooperation on both the governmental and regional level. The emphasis is put especially on the role of the United States and on their attitude toward the Russian federation in the North Pacific region. It therefore pays attention namely to American programs, institutions and companies striving for the cooperation with Russia in...

Köppen–Geiger climate classification by different regional climate models according to the SRES A1B scenario in the 21st century
Szabó-Takács, Beáta ; Farda, Aleš ; Zahradníček, Pavel ; Štěpánek, Petr
We investigate future climate conditions projected by six regional climate model (RCM) simulations driven by the SRES A1B emission scenario. As a diagnostic tool of climate change, we used the Köppen–Geiger climate classification as it is suitable for assessing climate change impacts on ecosystems. The analysis is based on a comparison of Köppen–Geiger climate subtypes during two future time slices (2021–2050 and 2070– 2100) with climate subtypes observed during 1961–2000. All RCMs showed expansion of the area covered by warmer climate types in the future, but the magnitude of the growth varied among RCMs. The differences stemmed from several sources, mainly boundary forcing provided by the driving global circulation models (GCMs) as well as different physical packages, resolution, and natural variability representation in individual GCMs. In general, RCMs driven by the ECHAM5-r3 GCM projected cooler climate conditions than did RCMs driven by the ARPÈGE GCM. This can be explained by two factors related to ECHAM5-r3: i) exaggerated transport of cool and moist air from the North Atlantic to Europe in summer, and ii) winter advection of cold air from the Artic owing to North Atlantic Oscillation blocking pattern alteration during solar minima as well as higher natural variability. RCM-related properties, such as physical package and spatial resolution, may also significantly affect climate predictions, although they do so to a smaller extent than does the driving GCM data.

The theoretical part of this work refers to the presence and approach to the technical element in former and current Czech art. It closely inquires into this theme in the work of the outstanding contemporary Czech artists and it also mentions the graffiti phenomenon and its influence on the present artistic production. Furthermore it explains my intention and technical method in the course of creating the practical part of the work - a cycle of six thematic paintings.
