The thesis introduces potential interpretations of corporate communication with the main focus on key moments of corporate communication as well as on consequences non-effective communication has on employee satisfaction and their life in the corporation. In the thesis I opted for the method of compilation and comparison of professional literature along with expert interviews which reveal the quality of internal communication in two selected corporations and prove one-sided view of communication inside corporations. Introduction of Smart Metering: Ramifications for Business Management in Medium-sized Energy Providers
Selmke, Pierre ; Heřman, Jan (advisor) ; Neumaierová, Inka (referee) ; Markovič, Peter (referee)
In the European Union (EU), increasing final energy efficiency, so as to save energy, has become mandatory. This obligation will fundamentally alter the EU energy sector. The relevant EU directive, 2006/32/EG, requires that adjustments be made to energy billing and, where technically feasible, that new metering technologies (i.e. smart metering) be introduced. Individual EU countries are implementing these requirements in different ways: Smart metering is either being nearly fully implemented (e.g. in Italy), is being planned (e.g. in Germany), or completely disregarded (e.g. in the Czech Republic). Since the introduction of smart metering affects virtually all value-added steps, organisational structures and areas of operation in medium-sized energy providers, these providers must take the relevant requirements into account at as early a stage as possible. The present thesis analyses the effects of the introduction of smart metering on the business management of such companies. A deductive method was chosen and the effects of intro- ducing smart metering were assessed through a cross-sectional study of two separate data collections. Experts were interviewed and their statements were qualitatively evaluated. A written survey followed via online questionnaires, the results of which were quantitatively evaluated. Institutional, functional and activity-based perspectives were considered as well as normative, strategic and operative aspects of business management. The evaluation of the survey enabled a better assessment and analysis of the introduction of smart metering. An analysis of the scope of the upcoming alterations within energy providers illustrates just how fundamental a change this will bring to medium-sized energy providers. However, the outcome of the written survey shows that most executives do not recognise this need for change and therefore are unable to initiate it. These management deficiencies threaten the very existence of these companies and must be resolved through the timely initiation of consistent change management.

Change and integration management in the german mechanical engineering industry
Fuchs, Christian
The main objective of the dissertation was to create a model for change and integration management for small and medium-sized en-terprises (SMEs). The priliminary form of the model was intended to be based on the survey of the relevant literature. Then the model should be tested empirically and further adjusted to well suit the field of application. The model should be of use to make managers understand what the reasons for change and integration processes might be and what the determinants regarding management and behaviour were in a limited sector of organisations in situations of change and integration. The literature survey allowed to gather enough information about the complex relations between strategy, psychological and social determinants in organisations that it was possible to develop the model in a demonstrative and obvious way. It shall show the managers in praxis at a glance how the process is built up, what is envolved, what has to be expected and what the drive mechanism would be. The model reaches in consecutive steps from the change in business environment to a change (adjustment) in strategy, from there to a change or integration process and after its completion to an evaluation of performance. The results of the online survey I showed significant correlation be-tween three sets of evidence, confirming that whenever a particular change project was set up, good experiences were made. Enterprises with charismatic leaders having visions show better economic re-sults than other ones. Also profit and staff satisfaction are better when managers dispose of an substantiated theoretical background. The lateral comparison of survey II between two enterprises with similar characteristics regarding size and structure showed signifi-cant correlation in the results. The association was however stronger between the acquiring enterprises than between the acquired enterprise units. Despite the small size of the samples it could expected to find similar results in the population of the surveys. The question of the development of an integration over time could not be answered to ones full satisfaction, since the longitudinal sur-vey did not show any significant development. This evidence could however have been different if the second run of the panel survey would have been executed much shorter after the acquisition.

Název: Řízení změn v ABB během významné změny organizační struktury
Ohlsson, Daniel ; Křečková Kroupová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Průša, Přemysl (referee)
The thesis aims to describe how communication of major organizational change affects the employees of different levels and their view on their communicative function during the change process. The qualitative research served as the research method to get insights and capture all the relevant information. The semi-structured interviews with employees of three different levels on ABB Czechia involved top-management employees, middle management and regular employees. Theoretical change communication models have been used as the core of this thesis and the qualitative outcomes have been compared to them. The outcome shows that there are both similarities and differences between how managers and employees perceive the change communication at the company and if this was successful or not. Furthermore, employees perception differed from the way the managers thought they would perceive change. This work shows in the chapter of Conclusion how complex it is to communicate both the expected and the unexpected outcomes during a change process and that the receiver does not always perceive the information as the transmitter intends it to do. Additional outcomes of the research show that theoretical models on change communication are difficult to apply to all types of changes because each of changes are unique.
