The image of John the Baptist in the Gospel of Matthew

This thesis focuses on the analysis of John the Baptist by using exegetical methods in the context of the gospel of Matthew. The thesis begins with a short introduction of the gospel of Matthew and the background of the analyzed texts Mt 3,1-12 (which deals with the activities of John the Baptist, the controversy between him and the Sadducees and Pharisees, and John's warning against the Last Judgment) and Mt 11,1-19 (which describes doubts concerning Jesus' mission, Jesus' confirmation of John's part, and the rejection of John's and Jesus' proclamations by the Jewish party). This part briefly summarizes the interpreted texts as well as the description, division, and broader framework of their background or parallel comparison of the synoptics. A translation of the verses from Greek to Czech follows which is accompanied by annotations, interesting facts, references to the peculiarities that arise from the translation, or differences among the Czech and other foreign translations of the Bible. Then comes the exegesis of the individual verses supplemented by findings acquired through research, followed by a summary of the chapter. Problem of Preparation for Baptism

The aim of this thesis is to collect, sort and describe the information about how to prepare for baptism. Another aim of the work is find a possible offer for the formation model of preparation for baptism currently, applicable to all can-didates for baptism. In the first part of this thesis are Described the various themes of baptism. Further is Described difference between the baptism of child and adult baptism. In this thesis is not omitted the question of baptism in Christ and baptism in the church. Chapter of the history tries to reflect the preparation for baptism in other periods of Christian history and consider the question preparation for baptism and her hints from the perspective of the New Testament. The Acquired information and experience I have tried to hint of this, why is it nowadays essential to direct the preparation for baptism to be discussed on the basis of preparation for baptism of children and adults. At the end was an at-tempt to presentation of several real practices in preparation for baptism from the selected preachers. I attempted to describe different Approaches to preparing for the baptism of in terms of individuality and uniqueness of each candidate. Rites of Christian Initiation in Byzantine and Roman Traditions. Outline of Comparison. The bachelor's thesis dwells on the rites of Christian initiation in two respective traditions: Slavonic-Byzantine and western - Roman. The author starts from a historical insight into the formation of celebration of the initiation rites from the New Testament praxis though ancient and medieval Church up to the development in last centuries. She notices changes in the celebration of Christian initiation made because of historical development or differences of rites related to various cultural settings. In the second part of the thesis, she tries to outline a comparison between current initiation rites - those of infants as well as those of adults - in both traditions. She studies the contemporary praxis from liturgical books and from other available sources in the Roman-Catholic Church as well as in the Greek-Catholic and Orthodox Churches in Eastern Europe. The Reform of Baptism in the Czech Lands from the 15th to 17th Century: An Analysis of Liturgical Texts

This diploma thesis called "The Reform of Baptism in the Czech Lands from the 15th to 17th Century: An Analysis of Liturgical Texts" is focused on comparation of liturgical texts dealing with baptismal liturgy. The main objects of my interest are Agenda created in our territory from the 15th to 17th Century. In the first part of the thesis there is a short outline of baptismal's liturgy evolution from the New Testament period to the Martin Luther's reform. In the next part there are presented domestic Agenda containing baptismal forms which are the main subject of this thesis. These Agenda comes from Roman Catholic church, from Utraquist church, three Agenda represented the evangelical type and the last item describes the baptism in Unitas Fratrum during the period of Lukáš Pražský. Birth of a Child - Rituals, Customs

This bachelor thesis focuses on the birth of a child in the Czech family and society in the nineties of the twentieth century and at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The chapters and the subchapters are concerned with the periods connected with the birth of a child and are aimed at rituals, customs and activities connected with coming of a new life to the world. The thesis is divided into three main parts, pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal period. In the part Pregnancy we will look at how awaiting of a new life is reflected in the language, superstitions and various practices and what is necessary to do before the birth of a child, we will especially focus on the choice of a name and surname. In this part we can find the chapter on the preference for the sex of a child and on the values which the Czech society connects with a child. In the second part Childbirth we will look at the perception of childbirth as pain, at the course of childbirth and at the first things which are necessary to do after the birth of a child. Rituals connected with childbirth in Bohemia and Moravia since the 17th century to the present

This thesis deals with rituals connected with childbirth in Bohemia and Moravia since the 17th century to the present. The first chapter describes the word ritual, especially the transition ritual, which is understood as a necessary assumption enabling the transition from one stage of life to the other. The next chapter presents the family and its development across the centuries from the traditional conception until the modern one. The family also plays an important role in education and in the child's integration into society - this is discussed in the third chapter. The fourth chapter maps the rituals connected with childbirth adhered to in the past. The fifth chapter continues analyzing the situation about current rituals. The last chapter compares the situation about the implementation of rituals in the past with the situation nowadays. It is concluded with the authors own research, which was based on real data collection.

The potential and benefits of pastoral care in perinatal child loss

The thesis focuses on the potential and benefits of pastoral care in perinatal child loss. Discussion of the main topic of the work is preceded by a definition of perinatal child loss, information on Dead Foetus Syndrome, an introduction to new-born palliative care at neonatal intensive and resuscitative care units, as well as a reference to the experience parents go through in the death of their own child. A brief introduction of the field of practical theology is followed by the characteristics of clinical pastoral care and the potentials for its practical application. Emphasis is placed on the fact that clinical pastoral care can benefit not only sick patients and their loved ones, but also healthcare workers who are often confronted with pain and suffering during the course of their work. This discussion is then followed by a brief mention of the three theological virtues (love, hope, and faith) that are an essential prerequisite to the efforts of pastoral workers. The topic is concluded with a chapter touching on eschatological perspectives, the importance of baptism, and hope for the salvation of children who pass away before having been baptised.
