A master's thesis "Brandýs nad Labem and Stará Boleslav 1938-1945" is focused on description of selected aspects of the life in towns. Since events of the year 1938, through occupation and period called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, till the time before revolt in May 1945. Due to better clarity, the thesis is divided into chapters dealing with social and culture progression, transformation of the town government, war industry, resistance movement and war events that intervene in the life in towns. Separate chapters dealed with the fate of the Jewish community, outline the course of the postwar investigation of collaboration and war monuments of Czech and German victims. Collegiate Chapter of St. Cosmas and Damian in Stará Boleslav

The dissertation "St Cosmas and St Damian collegiate chapter at Stará Boleslav" deals with the history of the oldest chapter of its kind in Bohemia. The gist of the thesis is introduced by a general essay on the institution of the chapter. The core part studies the development of the chapter at Stará Boleslav from its establishment by prince Břetislav up to the present. Special emphasis is laid on the period between the two world wars 1919-1938. This period is elaborated in detail on the basis of available sources and literature. The dissertation investigates the political and religious situation in the country, namely at Stará Boleslav, of that time, deals with personal issues at the chapter, and analyses its social conditions and pastoral activity. The personalities of four significant canons are introduced in conclusion.

The origins of the sacral center in Stara Boleslav in the early 10th century

This bachelor thesis, "The Establishment of the Stara Boleslav at the beginning of the 10th century", is devoted to the establishment of Stara Boleslav and the first sacral center in this area, curch of St. Cosma and Damian. First of all it deals with the founding of the Přemysslid castle , chat was the ground plan, if it was fortificated and what was the type of the fortification, what kind of buildings were situated in this area. Finally, this chapter deals with the legends of St. Wenceslav, in which the authors afer to the Stara Boleslav or just to the Boleslav's castle. This is followed by chapter which is dealing with the church of St. Cosma and Damian, where it was situated, waht it looked like, from what material it was built. In connection with the material of hic construction, the thesis also deals with analogies from the same period. The last chapter then deals with the archeological researches of the the area, the beginnigs of researches, researches in the church of St. Wenceslav and above all with the churchyard findings in the area of the castle and its bailey.

Agricultural and Social Life of the Collegiate Chapter of Stará Boleslav in the Fifties and Sixties of the 17th Century

The thesis analyses the agricultural and social life of the collegiate chapter of Stará Boleslav in the fifties and sixties of the 17th century. The core of the thesis focused on researching of the agricultural and social situation of the chapter of Stará Boleslav in the fifties and sixties of the 17th century follows after a brief outline of the chapter's history and its position within the context of the medieval and early modern development. The topic is mainly studied on the basis of unpublished sources (a list of the most important ones is presented below), also considering secondary literature, and it is placed into a broader context of the situation in Bohemia after the Thirty Years War. 1

The baroque heraldic gallery of coats of arms. Heraldic representation of nobility, clergy and burghers, its interpretation and application possibilities

This article focuses on Baroque heraldry, specifically the phenomenon of galleries of coats of arms in the Bohemian lands during the post-White Mountain period. Using auxiliary historical sciences methods, three sets of coats of arms from 1660-1690 are analysed: 1. Heraldic coats of arms and insignia of benefactors on sixteen paintings of the Saint Wenceslas series in the Basilica of St. Wenceslaus in the pilgrimage area of Stará Boleslav near Prague; 2. A set of three painted coats of arms in stucco cartouches on the triumphal arch of the Chapel of the Virgin Mary and St. Charles Borromeo in the former Vlašský Hospital in Prague's Lesser Town; 3. Heraldic coats of arms and insignia on ten wooden plinths of statues of Bohemian patrons in the archdeanery church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Tachov. The article yields a series of named sets of coats of arms, and the identification of most persons to whom they belonged to, including a comparison with coats of arms presented in other sources (seals, designs on deeds for coats of arms, old prints). With the placement into a wider historical context and an analysis of the donor structure, the article also points to the composition of the elite at that time, stemming from a range of higher and lower nobility, clergy and burghers, and to the need to make...
