Bartůňková, Eliška ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Szobi, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the representation of the Czechoslovak February 1948 coup in Rudé právo and Svobodné noviny. Its aim is to find out the difference between the periodicals and the possible change of Svobodné noviny after the replacement of the editor-in-chief during the coup. Using Krippendorff's quantitative content analysis, I find out that before the editor- in-chief's exchange, the newspaper differed. While Svobodné noviny were objective, Rudé právo contained engaged journalism. After the exchange, the differences faded away. The plurality of opinions was no longer present in Svobodné noviny, and the opposition was displayed negatively, as was the case of Rudé právo.

Kučerová, Monika ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
The subject of the thesis "Selected samizdat magazines 1980 - 1987 (X Desítka (Ten)/Violit and Jednou nohou (One Foot)/Revolver Revue)" is to give a picture of how these magazines were created and how they functioned in the context of the time. The first part of the thesis gives a general description of historical events, especially the period surrounding Gustáv Husák's rise to become the head of the Czechoslovak Communist Party and the start of normalisation. This change brought about issues such as political cleansing and trials and the development of opposition. The second chapter is devoted to the phenomenon of Charter 77, its origins, the response to it by the party and state apparatus and what it meant to be a Charter 77 member in everyday life. The concept of samizdat is briefly defined in chapter three. The fourth and fifth chapters deal with the magazines themselves. In the sixth chapter they are compared mainly in terms of production and distribution.

Rybář, Pavel ; Vaňous, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Houda, Přemysl (referee)
The heart of this thesis consists of life stories narrated by former as well as current sports journalists and it focuses on sports journalism as a profession in political and social contexts. The first part gives an example of theories which deconstruct the myth of sport as an apolitical phenomenon. The second part reconstructs the history of public appearances of sport by examining attitudes, values and desires of interviewees. Using the snowball sampling technique -- recruitment of future subjects from among their acquaintances -- the researcher processes memories of eight interviewees whose information is classified into four main topics. Those include answers to under what conditions interviewees made a decision on their occupation, which sports they were concerned with, what reputation those sports had, what constraints they faced in their job, and what other unexpected roles their profession implies. As a whole, this text describe sports journalism as sine qua non for an outset of the tendency which began to grow during the 1950s in Czechoslovakia -- the attraction extending beyond the leisure activity and the top level sport gaining in popularity.
