Reporting Ice-Hockey: Women's and Men's Perspective

The thesis called Reporting Ice-hockey: Women's and Men's Perspective focuses on possible differences in works of female and male sports journalists. In the theoretical part, the issue of gender in sports journalism, basic stereotypes associated with the work of female sports journalists and the characteristics of the female writing style are introduced. In the practical part, reports of specific Czech journalists about ice-hockey are analysed. The analysis includes audio-visual reports from Branky, body, vteřiny; Hokej den poté, and written reports from Mladá fronta Dnes and online news server iDNES.cz. The emphasis is put on, for example, the frequency of statistical data, the description of the atmosphere and emotions, the originality of expressions or the use of sports journalism jargon and clichés. The aim of the qualitative content analysis is to prove whether and how the reports of selected female and male sports journalists differ.
Ota Pavel's journalistic activity in years 1956 - 1964

Ota Pavel is known for his belles-lettres, particularly short tales with autobiographical motives. This bachelor thesis aims to point out Pavel's journalistic activity in periodicals, that preceded his literary career. The theoretical segment aims to provide Pavel's contextual portrait in terms of his journalistic activity and mental illness. Practical part contains analysis of Pavel's articles published in the periodicals Stadion and Ceskoslovensky vojak during the limited period. Havel's legacy at Ostrovní 13 (literary reportage)

This thesis presents the Václav Havel Library and the legacy of the person whose name it holds in the form of the literary reportage. In the theoretical part it defines the literary reportage genre. Firstly it describes the historical development of the reportage, focusing on the Czech and Polish journalistic and literary enviroment. Then, in contrast with the Czech tradition, it defines the specific genre that is the Polish literary reportage, focusing in more detail on the types of narrators and the language it uses. In the practical part the theoretical knowledge is being implemented in the form of an original literary reportage, which presents the environment and the functioning of the Václav Havel Library. It presents an unique institution that was modeled on the American presidential libraries for the purpose of archiving and publishing the works of Václav Havel and related materials, as well as organising cultural events that carry his spirit. The literary reportage Havel's legacy at Ostrovní 13 gives an interpretation of what the legacy represents, meaning in what areas we can still feel the influence of Václav Havel and what makes him an inspiration to many. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with Czech and world photography of the 1st half of the 20th century. Following chapters are dedicated to the two important personalities of photography and their various approaches: black and white phography capturing the "decisive moment" of Henri Cartier-Bresson and as a counterpoint František Drtikol´s work in a studio. The practical part consists of a cycle of digital photographs on the topic "The Power of a Moment".
Report as a method of radio production explained, exemplified by Czech Radio

The object of this diploma thesis is the definition of the report as a method of radio production in the broadcasting of the Czech public radio, which is Czech Radio (Český rozhlas). In the theoretical part, the author deals with the definition and description of particular radio genres and with the genesis of the distinction of news, journalistic, documentary and dramatic forms of radio production. Looking forward for context and application of the radio reporting method in their production processes. Using definitions and expert studies of media and radio theorists, she names the basic attributes of these genres. This paper is a cross-section of popular and unpopular forms of contemporary radio production through prism reporting methods. The practical part of the diploma thesis is based on qualitative analysis of selected programs of Czech Radio. The analysis of the materials in the research part works with the prescribed theoretical concepts of radio work and it is also based on the research. New Forms of Reporting in the TV News

Following thesis deals with the question of how the four main television channels in the Czech Republic process and create news. Based on her own observation, the author has tried to find and describe the main tendencies in the field of the television news reporting. The thesis thus gives a general overview of the newsmaking routine according to the specialized literature, but also provides the reader with the results of those observations. The work consists of two parts: the theoretical and practical. The first part starts with the basic components of the news reporting, followed by a more detailed description of the television part. The last part of the theory includes the development trends in the television news and deals with the visual and audial components of the news as well as the role of the reporter in it. The latter includes the verbal as well as non-verbal communication, i.e. linguistics of the news and means of expression of the reporters and news anchors as well as the importance of the reporter and the part he plays in the news. The practical part analyzes given pieces of news, using the information provided in the previous part; the analysis is thus based on the above stated criteria. Czech television's documentary series - Czech Journal

Bachelor thesis The Documentary Cycle of Czech Television - The Czech Journal focuses on the first three series of this cycle (premiere between 2013 and 2015). Fifteen documentary films (Život a smrt v Tanvaldu, Rozezlení, Pančovaná republika, Spřízněni přímou volbou, Svobodu pro Smetanu, Dělníci bulváru, Gadžo, Zločin pana Chytila, Já, horník!, Obnažený národ, Pět zrození, Matrix AB, Ubytovny, Blízký daleký východ a Má vlast Afghánistán) are analyzed in terms of qualitative, quantitative, form and genre. In particular, exploring the genres of individual films is crucial for the work. The starting point for exploration is the genre fluctuations of the Czech Journal between the television journalistic reportage and the documentary film. The three chapters of the bachelor's thesis evaluate this topic first from a terminological point of view, then from a formal and ultimately analytical one. The methods used for the chosen examination are represented by quantitative content analysis of the films (list of identifying features, etc.), but especially by qualitative analysis.
