Modernity as Monstrosity: Sociological Testimony of the Modern Auctorial Myth 2011

This paper presents the methodology and theory needed for a narratologically and linguistically oriented comparation of chosen texts that belong to different declared genres, eventhough they do share a substancial amount of characteristics in the author's opinion. This methodological and linguistic apparatus is then used for a brief pilot study of the specific texts with a special regard to correspondence and difference in the language and narration of these texts. The key metodological instrument presented in this paper is the contruction of the continuum defined by the abstract opposites of "instrumental" and "literary" language and then relating of this continuum to the theory of information. The paper presents narratological approach oriented towards the relation of science, narration and society as a theoretical basis for the study of character of narration in the chosen texts. The outcome of the pilot comparation, based on this theoretical and methodological apparatus, is in the grasping of language and narration in the compared texts with regard to the idea of ideal text and its characteristics. RPG as a narrative medium

This bachelor's thesis deals with narrative in video games, specifically in RPGs and its "hybrids". Theoretical part presents selected concepts of game studies and narratology, which are used as a base for a possible method of analysis in the practical part of this paper. This method is demonstrated using four examples to form four short case studies.
School in narratives parents to children

Bachelor thesis "School in narratives parents to children" focuses on an oral family history in relation with the school. The theoretical part summarizes the important role of narratives in human life. It shows the story as a source of important values, history and also the possibility of individual's identity formation by the stories. The interaction between family and school and the influence of the school in shaping the family stories is presented in the theoretical part. The empirical part deals with the research that aims to clarify the reason why parents tell stories about the school to children. The results indicate that in most reference sample families school plays an important role, because it is the source of traditional values and norms. That is the reason why parents talking about it. The school represents a conservative institution, which provides stability and security to the family.
Traditional Czech and British Fairy Tales - The Most Obvious Analogies

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to demonstrate whether Czech and British fairy tales evince analogies in terms of motifs and narratological structure. The theoretical part explains the origin of fairy tales in both countries and presents definitions of a traditional fairy tale and its main functions. The practical part begins with an analysis of an individual style of writing of the authors Božena Němcová, Karel Jaromír Erben, Joseph Jacobs and Oscar Wilde who are considered to be the main representatives of traditional fairy tales and thus their works enable a more thorough comparison. Subsequently, the author has paid attention to the analysis of traditional fairy tales of both literatures. In addition to their identical features, the comparison has also shown a number of discrepancies. Time and Space in Written Production of Children

This thesis deals with time and space expresion in written composition of 5th and 9th grade students. The thesis is dividend in two parts. First on eis focused on teoretici knowledge of naratology, development psychology and research of language acqusition regarding upper primary school students. Written compositions of 5th and 9th grade students are analyzed in sekond (practical) part according to knowledge described in first part of this thesis. Areas of interest are koherence of expresion, time, space and charakter describing. In closing of this part is comparison between both age Gross. In conclusion you can find proposals for school edication improvng according to results of students works analysis.
Superman: The Semantics, Evolution Poetics and Socio-cultural Specificities of the Superhero Comics.

This bachelor thesis considers the genre of superhero comics since its appearance in 1938 to the present time. The thesis, according to chosen comic books, tries to generally describe and interpret superhero discourse, in particular the evolution and various specificities. The main focus is on the comics narrativity and primary aspects of narration (narrator, intertextuality, characters, time of story). There is no analysis touching visual comics aspects. The only exception - the last chapter - examines the impressive evolution poetics of the title-pages.
Storytelling and it's graphical accompaniment in pre-school age

The presented dokument describes three ways how children work with a fairy tale. First they listen to the story, then they draw it and finally they are being interviewed. The interview has two phases. At the beginning the focus is on the children's drawings, this is followed by the conversation around the illustrations from the story book. The picture is accompanied by a text. This research should find out how will children deal with these three ways of processing the fairy tale. The paper consists of two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter defines the preschool period in terms of personality development. It focuses on important developmental tasks of that period. The second chapter explores the world of fairy tales. The third chapter aims to introduce the topic of the beginnings of children's communication. The empirical part of the paper describes the research that took part in kindergarten. The aim was to link all three ways how children worked with the fairy tale. Each of these forms has different demand on the child. I am trying to find out and describe possible use of obtained data.
Family Stories about school

This bachelor thesis is focused on the narrative, which parents of their children tell. The narrative is focused on the area schools and school environment. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the reader first with the importance of storytelling in our lives. In the text are cited ideas and theories of experts, who are interested in the topic a long time. Next is another important area of work related to the topic - chapter about the significance of family, intergenerational transmission, family stories and family myths. Another important part is the empirical research. The aim of our research is effort to capture the image of the school passed between generations and capture which functions fulfill family story in the case of school material. Written text of children, who talk about what their parents told them about school, served to fulfill our research plan. Pupil's essays were collected and analyzed. There were six classes of second-degree of two selected primary schools. Analysis of data showed that the family story is told and serve to family cohesion. Furthermore, it appeals that children have to right to be naughty. Child who is naughty occasionally, it is joyous and happy. The main objective lies in the analysis of how, and for what purpose, the two modes of narration, telling and showing (also diegesis and mimesis) are used. Furthermore, the thesis provides a comparison between two different narrators and it attempts to describe the effect their narrative has on the implied reader.
