The Ethnonational problematics in history textbooks for high schools in current Russia

This diploma thesis is called "The Ethnonational problematics in history textbooks for high schools in current Russia" and is divided into four parts. The first one opens the problematics and aspects of history teaching at schools in general, what factors have impact on its performance and, at the same time, how this imprinting influences individuals and the society. Second part is focused on Russian background of teaching and presenting historical events, and also its institutional base, system and major sources of influence. The focal part analyses current history textbooks for high schools in order to point out the approach to miscellaneous ethnics living in Russians lands in the past and now, and the presentation and explanation of the fact, that Russia has ever been a multinational state. The results and conclusions - the main determination in Russian history teaching - are discussed in the last part.
French History Textbooks as Inspiation for Czech Schools

5 ABSTRACT: The present thesis deals with history textbook usage in lower secondary school classes. It focuses on the work methods in French history books and their possible application within the Czech system while taking the pupils' perspective into consideration. The theoretical part introduces history instruction in France and work methods used in their textbooks. The focal point of the thesis is its practical part, a case study of two study units that were prepared based on French textbooks; "Townsmen, trade and slavery" and "Women and feminism in 19 th century". These were taught in two year-eight history classes. The results and discussion consist mainly of the analysis of work outputs and pupils' feedback on the used materials. The conclusion outlines possible means of inspiration for Czech schools by the French methods analysed in the case studies. Comparison of the didactic potential of Austrian and Czech history textbooks on the example of selected historical events

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze and compare the didactic potential of Czech and Austrian history textbooks regarding to their anchoring in the educational system and working with historical thinking and historical literacy, generally with the development of students' key competencies. The thesis took into account differences in the educational systems of both countries, the curriculum and, overall, worked with the goals of modern history teaching. The comparison was made on historical events that connect these two countries, and the core of the thesis is the analysis of processing these topics in terms of the Research-Based teaching goals. The output of this thesis is a specific teaching unit that works with Czech and Austrian textbooks and tries to cover the main theses of modern didactics of history. Application of French Methods of Text Analysis into the Czech History Teaching

This diploma thesis is focusing on the application of the French text analysis method in history teaching in the Czech Republic. The objective of this thesis is to introduce the French method not only theoretically, but also to create specific lessons based on it. The terminology uses the term method for the translation of the French term méthode. The basis for this thesis is mainly drown from the French history textbooks, the interviews with the teachers and the history lessons in French. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the introduction of history teaching in France, including the textbooks used at both primary and secondary schools. Furthermore, it presents the individual methods of working in history lessons according to the French method. In the practice part, this thesis presents the lessons prepared for history lessons in Czech, which were realized during the school year 2018/2019 at the bilingual section of the Jan Neruda Grammar School in Prague. These lessons were created for the purpose of this work based on the French method or were translated from French history textbooks. The Changes and Style of History Teaching at the High School and Secondary Grammar School in Sušice between 1953 and 1971

In connection with the social and political changes which occurred in the year 1948 when the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia took control of the political power, the views on the role of secondary education and the way in which humanities were taught changed very dynamically during the coming years. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the change of History teaching between 1953 and 1971 using the example of the Eleven-Year High School ("Jedenáctiletá střední škola") in Sušice, the Secondary School of General Education ("Střední všeobecně vzdělávací škola") in Sušice and the Secondary Grammar School ("Gymnázium") in Sušice. Using primarily the aproach of oral history to get authentic narration and recollections of former students and History teachers, this thesis shows the historical development of History teaching in Czechoslovakia in general perspective, alternatively in comparison with another high school of this type located in Klatovy region, using a comparative method. Due to the use of witness narratives, the history of everyday life at school can be incorporated into the work, to a limited extent. This thesis also describes the brief history of the high school in Sušice and the history of education at general secondary schools in Czechoslovakia.
Reflection of the First Czechoslovak Republic in the History of Textbooks in the Second Half of the 20th Century

This thesis deals with the image of the First Czechoslovak Republic as presented in history textbooks in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The main goal of the thesis is to reflect the approach to and transformation of the way the First Republic was depicted in the history textbooks issued between 1948 and 2004. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly outlines the development of school structure and curricular documents in the period observed as well as the transformation of historiographical production with respect to the Czechoslovak interwar history. Furthermore, the key terms are defined that are based on crucial topics and generalizations of the present-day Czech historiographical production. These terms are then studied in history textbooks in six periods matching the chronology of education reforms and subsequently analyzed in terms of explanation and interpretation methods. The final part of the thesis presents each of the observed interpretation changes in relation to the selected key terms. The greatest textbook alterations were found in connection with the change of the social and political circumstances after the fall of the Communist regime.
Mining and Minting in Kutna Hora as a Topic of Integrated Thematic Instruction in History Education in Secondary Schools

The diploma thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is devoted to the concept of integrated thematic teaching, the history of silver ore mining and coinage in Kutná Hora. The practical part presents the integrated thematic education for pupils of the secondary school, which was verified in practice at secondary school in Suchdol. The mining of silver ore and silver coinage in Kutná Hora was explained theoretically and practically to pupils. Pupils worked with school historical sources and literature relevant to the subject. Part of the practical part was a field trip to the Italian Court in Kutná Hora. In the teaching were used methods, which support brain-compatible learning according to the concept of integrated thematic teaching (for example an interview, a group work, a photography, a brainstorming, etc.). Part of the diploma thesis is also evaluation of the practical implementation of the proposal. There are reviewed not only the benefits but also the pitfalls of integrated thematic lessons.
Teaching of History of Medieval Clothing of History at Vocational Secondary School

TITLE: Teaching of History of Medieval clothing of History at Vocational secondary school AUTHOR: Veronika Raubicová DEPARTMENT: Department of History and History Didactics SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Hana Havlůjová, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The thesis is focused on application of comprehensive knowledge of medieval clothing in education of the first-year students at humanities and art upper-secondary schools. The theoretical knowledge will be used for creating didactic programme from which the students will learn basic facts about clothing and its importance for medieval culture and society. The students should also realize how medieval cultural heritage influences the recent clothing and fashion. The programme involves different educational methods. The efficiency of the programme and its methods will be shown analysing the students' final products. In case the programme is successful, it will be offered to other schools with the same or similar curriculum. As a part of the evaluation, the teachers will be interviewed and their reviews of the programme and its use in education enclosed. Czech Century TV Series in Expert Discourse and History Teaching

This theses is divided into two main sections. First one, called TV show České století in scholarly discourse, is dealing with the TV show České století in the context of historiographical evolution, memory studies and historians' disputes and comments. Second one, called Utilization of TV show České století for teaching history, is practical and elaborates on using the TV show for teaching history classes. This part contains a complex approach for teaching history classes about the Velvet revolution at gymnasiums using epizode The very last hooray, including the historical, didactic and methodological analysis.
