Is free will just an illusion?
KOHOUTOVÁ, Lucie
The question of free will is one of the oldest and most complex questions that one deals with. It is not only theoretical, because the consequences of our actions will affect not only our lives, but also the lives of other people. In my bachelor thesis I will rely on the definitions of free will and try to define the basic theories that work with it. What are the basic attitudes to free will and what are the arguments for its existence or non-existence? The main question will be whether we possess free will, whether we are able to make free choices, or whether the act of free will is predestined to us and our free will is then a mere illusion. I will try to present the arguments of some philosophers and show their view of free will and the related moral responsibility.
Vernacular architectural elements. Mitigating climate conditions in the category Cfa
Burešová, Karolína
Vernacular architecture is a source of inspiration and guidance for the design of housing in a particular region, as well as for protecting and improving the environment, it shows the use of the proper material and can save energy costs, as these buildings cope with the climate through the passive design strategy. The case study discovers the unmechanised architectural form of the elements, which react to the climate conditions on the built environment of the vernacular architecture. The cases are selected according to the Köppen climate classification calculated for the Czech Republic for the period 2071-2100, which is in the category Cfa, along with European cases in the same category Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Spain, and Krasnodar-Russia. These representatives are observed by Google Street View, and the forms of the architecture are compared. The potential of the research is to use the results in combination with architectural elements of the vernacular(1), contemporary(2) and ecological(3) housing architecture to design a new balanced housing model.
Existencialism and its Implementation in Education
Krivdová, Annamária ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
This thesis aims to outline the most influential ideas of existentialism and relate them to our everyday life. The first part focuses on five existential writers and their most profound contributions. It addresses the works of Dostoyevsky, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Sartre, and Camus. The second part consists of twelve subchapters, tackling the questions of freedom, determinism, anxiety, suffering, authenticity, responsibility, and the search for meaning in life. This part seeks to put issues of existential philosophy into practical use and highlight its everlasting influence and relevance in today's world. It is constructed in the form of twelve lessons, offering various examples and views on the thought-provoking concepts presented in the first part.
Legal and philosophical aspects of free will
Kutílek, Lukáš ; Maršálek, Pavel (advisor) ; Tryzna, Jan (referee)
This thesis seeks an answer to a question of whether social normative systems, particularly law and morality, are consistent with the most recent scientific and philosophical findings. Those in fact often conclude that the human will is not free and that the human decision- making is only a physiological process governed by the laws of physics. Such findings thus, at a first glance, collide mainly with the concept of responsibility, through which law and morality are implemented. Therefore, the paper begins with a brief introduction of the current state of knowledge concerning free will and presents mainly determinism and indeterminism. The conclusion of the first part called Free Will and Determinism introduces a view of the world, which best suits the current state of knowledge and is further referred to as Physicalism. The second part called Law, Morality, Physicalism, briefly presents law and morality as regulators of human behavior, for which the concept of free will is fundamental. The focus of the thesis then shifts towards the institutions of criminal and civil law, that seem to be threatened by Physicalism the most. However, general consistency of Physicalism and the examined normative concepts is concluded, while it is argued that within the physicalistic view of the world, law and morality...
The truth of future contingent propositions as a logical and philosophical problem
Kolínská, Marie ; Svoboda, Vladimír (advisor) ; Bendová, Kamila (referee)
According to some logicians and philosophers, future contingent propositions pose a specific problem. Many of those who look into this problem now and those who looked into it (even hundreds) years ago, refer to Aristotle. Nevertheless not in agreement. Our aim is to give an overview of traditional and non-traditional interpretations of the part of Aristotle's work which deals with this issue. On the basis of their comparison we will try to uncover what causes the variety of readings. That will allow us to assess whether the truth of future contingent propositions really is a specific problem and what is its actual nature.
Reconstruction n. 5
Nováček, Daniel ; Buraj, Ivan (referee) ; Sterec, Pavel (advisor)
Value of the category of the real is not lost due to a process of measuring. The problem is not the fact of measuring, but it‘s insufficient quantity and detail. Methodology of analysis of systems, subsystems, functions of incorporated elements and their reproduction with a determined reality.
Syntactic Analysis Based on Special Models
Zámečníková, Eva ; Masařík, Karel (referee) ; Lukáš, Roman (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with translation based on coupled finite automaton. Coupled finite automaton contains input and output automaton. The input automaton makes syntactic analysis with an input string. Used rules from the input automaton control the output automaton, which generates an output string. Basic topic of this thesis is determinisation of the input automaton without loss of information about rules used in original automaton.
