Kříž, Petr ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Císař, Ondřej (referee)
In this thesis viewpoints of Hegel's philosophy of history were confronted with selected fields of 20th century social theory. The Enlightenment was chosen as a keyword. In Hegel's Phenomenology of Mind the Enlightenment is a mode of experience of consciousness, or a phenomenon of Spirit in its history, a phenomenon which is becoming outdated in his time. To illustrate such overcome this conception of Enlightenment is demonstrated on Kant's article The answer to a Question: What is Enlightenment?. Thesis then examines the way in which had Hegel's interpretation inspired Critical theory - specifically Adorno's and Horkheimer's Dialectic of Enlightenment and Marcuse's Reason and Revolution. The last part of thesis is focused on the broader field of social theory to find manifestations of thought stream begun by Hegel. It finds it out especially in thought of Gadamer in considerably radical form calling to a question the epistemology of humanities till his present. Viewpoints emerged from Hegel's philosophical reaction to the Enlightenment represent still current counterpart of neopositivist approaches and a relevant reference point in epistemological uncertainty and in finding out an adequate socio-historical role of humanities.

Janauerová, Barbora ; Hájek, Roman (advisor) ; Krobová, Tereza (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse narrative strategies in the texts of the feature genre in two periodicals. Feature genre is longer genre of journalistic (opinion) character regularly used in printed world media, especially magazines. It is a genre which combines elements of two genres - report and analytical article. This thesis compares features in Czech and American environment, the latter being a more tradiotional for the genre. The two periodicals in question are Respekt and New Yorker. The choice is influenced by the fact that the chief editor of Respekt claims the medium to be inspired by New Yorker. The research method of the work is narrative analysis. Analysed categories are then narrator, focalization, description of a character and a alternating of the report and contextual parts of the feature genre. An important part of the work is analysis of intentionality of the use of certain type of narrators and focalization. Some of the narrative strategies, types of narrators and focalization used in the context of the journalistic texts influence the degree of objectivity/subjectivity of the narrative. Through analysis the comparison of the feature genre in Czech and Anglo-American journals is made, how they differ and what they have in common.

Obermajerová, Eliška ; Vallin, Petra (advisor) ; Poche Kargerová, Jana (referee)
This diploma thesis describes the issue of teaching Peace Education in a Montessori School. It comprehensively characterises the concept of Peace Education, mapping the content of lessons and materials which form part of the prepared environment of a Montessori class. I was interested in the inclusion of Peace Education in the Montessori Curriculum because it has an important role in education as Marie Montessori believed that peace begins in children. For the elaboration of the practical part, I chose action research which took place in Orange Class at Duhovka Elementary School - Prague, where I have been working as a class teacher since September 2020. The research was conducted in a mixed age class of Gd 1-3 students aged 6-9 years. I focused mainly on trying out the lessons with my class having created the materials for the prepared environment. In conclusion, I will evaluate the contribution of Peace Education for the class team and the changes of dynamics within the students in terms of respecting others. In addition, I will also reflect on the lessons and write recommendations for teachers who would like to use them. KEYWORDS Marie Montessori, Montessori School, Peace Education, Peace Flower Model, respect, prepared environment, action research
Writing about art: the problems of interpretation of art and its conveying in media through the eyes of Czech art journalists
Laufer, David ; Hroch, Miloš (advisor) ; Čeňková, Jana (referee)
The bachelor's thesis Writing about art: the problems of interpretation of art and its conveying in media through the eyes of Czech art journalists deals with writing about fine art in media. First, it generally examines the influence of language and society on the definition of art, after which it focuses on the interpretation of works of art in art journalism, the limits of its arbitrarness and the role of the reader and the context. This theoretical knowledge is used in the practical part to analyze semi-structured in-depth interviews with respondents from the ranks of Czech art journalists. Their statements indicate the importance of careful choice of the composition of texts and the method of interpretation, which often depends on the specific nature of the described work of art or exhibition. In spite of these variables, this thesis shows generally preferred approaches of individual respondents to interpreting art. They either build their texts informatively and base their interpretations on the opinions of curators and artists' life stories, or they approach these external interpretations rather skeptically and stick to their own analysis. Respondents agree that in any case they influence the public's view of the often incomprehensible and insufficiently medialized contemporary art, which...
