Charakterizuje uvedenou instituci a Středisko vědeckých informací, analyzuje jejího uživatele, jeho informační chování, a popisuje vývoj práce s informacemi v konfrontaci se zaváděním informačních a komunikačních technologií. Součástí práce je také dotazníkové šetření zaměřené na identifikaci informačního chování uživatelů (jejich informační návyky: hlavní zdroje informací, frekvence užití zdrojů, využívání informačních služeb, správu kolekce článků, preference užití tištěných nebo elektronických materiálů apod.). Verification of the Kuhlthau's Information Search Process Model in the Environment of the Czech Republic

The thesis focuses on Kuhlthau's Information Search Process Model. Firstly, the author explains Kuhlthau's model of information retrieval and seeking meaning of information from user's perspective. Results of the model are the uncertainty principle and mediation - findings which change our view of library services. In the second part of the thesis, the author introduces other research texts and manuals about writing a scientific text. She pays special attention to Jadwiga Šanderová's comprehensive manual which is called How to read and write a scientific text in social sciences, and to stylistics research text by Světla Čmejrková et al. called How to write down a scientific text. Thirdly, the author evaluates the survey which verifies Kuhlthau's model in the environment of the Czech Republic. Providing Access to Electronic Information Resources at Jan Palach Library CUFA

The bachelor thesis deals with providing access to electronic resources (ER) at Jan Palach Library CUFA. The theoretical part of the thesis defines term ER, describes their typology, deals with acquisition and management and introducing tools for using them. The thesis describes experiences of Jan Palach Library CUFA with providing access to ER and deals with information behavior of ER users. The aim of the thesis is to describe a situation in ER management on example of an university library on Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. The practical part of the thesis is an user research on the method of the survey which results that situation in ER use is slowly getting better, users do not feel foreign language ER production as problem and just only small group of users attended workshop dedicated to ER, because users do not feel the need to. Information needs of editors in publishing industry

This thesis is focused on the issues of information behaviour of editors from publishing with an emphasis on information needs and the sources of information. The first part deals with the position in the information publishing companies, the trend for electronic publishing and its influence on the book market. The following is an overview of selected terminological terms from publishers and their analysis. The next chapter is a summary of information behaviour theories, related concepts, models and current research in the Czech republic. The results of research that was realized for the purpose of the thesis between Czech editors are summarized and analyzed in the conclusion. Based on these results, proposals for the increasing of information literacy of editors are included in the thesis.
Behavior of the Czech users on the Internet

The first part of thesis outlines the terminology of social media and introduces several social media that are known world wide. The second part analyzes the theory itself including its criticism. The last part of the thesis summarizes the situation in Czech republic when speaking of "Socialnomics".

Ivana Příbramská: Informační systémy ve vysokém školství s důrazem na identifikaci uživatelů, informačních potřeb a jejich uspokojování (dizertační práce) Abstract Focus of this thesis is on users in tertiary education and on the extent, to which their information needs are met by information systems and resources provided by both higher education institutions and other organizations. Second chapter sets up a theoretical framework, summarizing research in the field of the information seeking and information seeking behavior, models of information seeking, information needs and their satisfaction. Third chapter describes higher education area and its role in information provision to the users (coming from both within and outside the area); all users within this area are classified and their information needs and sources for satisfaction of these needs are listed. Fourth chapter is concerned with information systems in higher education in Czech Republic including classifications used within this field, national systems collecting data from higher education institutions and short description of three local information systems. Information Behaviour of Employees of Large Companies

This thesis deals with the information behaviour of employees of large companies. Its first objective is to provide the necessary theoretical basis for solving this problem, explaining concepts such as information, communication, information behaviour and information needs. The second objective is to subsequently capture the typical information behaviour of individuals in the organisation and of their surroundings using questionnaire survey. The result of this research is confirming or disproving the expressed hypotheses and recommendation for corrective actions if any typical problems in the field of information behaviour were identified. The research is aimed at all employees of large companies operating in information-intensive industries.
Problems of using information sources in the academic environment

This bachelor thesis deals with problems of exploiting electronic information sources. Defines main difficulties in which can students, producers, providers (libraries) and experts or teachers run into. Thesis focuses on particular problems and suggests possible improvements. For defining problems and finding possible solutions author cooperated with specialists from information domain specialists, who made (in cooperation with author) a list of problems, which should be solved for better exploatation of information sources. Specialist also introduced some solutions which are currently in development. Thesis is divided into two parts, first is more theoretical and introduces main concepts (information, information need, information behavior and information literacy), techniques for browsing and searching through informational sources. Also multidomain database Proquest 5000 is discussed. Second part focuses on particular problems and possible solutions for searching in electronic information sources.
