Global Gateway as a Counterweight to the New Silk Road:Namibia
Trávníček, Jiří Daniel ; Krulichová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Menclová, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor thesis analyses the media image of the European Union and China in Namibia, in the context of the Global Gateway and New Silk Road strategies. The aim of the thesis is to examine how the two superpowers are represented in the Namibian media, and whether these strategies have an impact on this media image. The research uses data from Namibian newspapers The Namibian and New Era, where articles from 2013 to early 2024 are analysed. The research is conducted through content thematic analysis and qualitative comparative analysis. The articles are, according to the prevailing themes, divided into three categories: economic, political, and social. The results show that the European Union is presented as a promoter of sustainable projects and technological innovation but faces criticism of imbalanced win-win benefits. China is portrayed as a major investor in extractive industries and infrastructure, but this raises concerns about Namibia's economic dependence. On political and social issues, China has a more positive media image than the European Union. The Global Gateway Strategy and the New Silk Road are presented in the media image in Namibia as initiatives with both positive and negative aspects. The influence of Global Gateway is less significant, the New Silk Road is more significant.

Hruška, Marek ; Sobotka, Michal (advisor) ; Franková, Martina (referee)
Legal Aspects of Agroforestry Systems Abstract The thesis is devoted to a thorough analysis of the legal aspects of agroforestry systems in the context of Czech law. However, attention is paid not only to the Czech law, but also to the European Union regulations, which partly regulate the issue of agroforestry as one of the sustainable approaches to agriculture. The aim of the thesis is to acquaint with the legal aspects of agroforestry, their selected typified agroforestry systems as well as individual woody elements that make up agroforestry systems. Space is devoted to both private law issues and, in particular, public law issues supplemented by relevant case law. Given the specific nature of agroforestry, this thesis is permeated by a wide range of legal disciplines, among which environmental law dominates, complemented by the aforementioned European law, civil law, tax law, administrative law and constitutional law. The objective is also to offer relevant de lege ferenda considerations with regard to the specific nature of agroforestry. Part of the rigorous thesis is an international legal comparison especially in relation to the legislation of the Federal Republic of Germany due to the proximity of its legal culture, landscape and climate. The thesis is divided into 4 main chapters. The first one is...

Vítová, Lucía ; Hejlová, Denisa (advisor) ; Koudelková, Petra (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to find out how Czech SMEs approach voluntary ESG reporting. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the theoretical basis of ESG, the significance of its individual factors and its legislative grasp at the European level. In this part of the thesis the connection between ESG and circular economy, CSR and the concept of DEI is also explained. In addition, the pitfalls of ESG, greenwashing and the role of communication in ESG are discussed. In the research part of the thesis, two research questions are first formulated and predictions of the answers to these questions are made based on previous research. Then the data collection method, the data processing method and the actual evaluation of the research are described. The research in this thesis was conducted using the qualitative method of semi-structured in-depth interviews with a total of 6 respondents. The data collected from these interviews is analyzed in the practical part using thematic analysis, open and axial coding. The research results reveal a high level of skepticism among SMEs about ESG reporting and its legitimacy. Against mandatory ESG reporting, the research reveals more openness towards voluntary ESG reporting. However, respondents do not practice such voluntary reporting and do not plan to do so in...
Attitudes of Czech Political Parties on Crypto Assets
Kern, Lukáš ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Cirhan, Tomáš (referee)
The Czech Republic is going to approve the European-wide MiCA regulation, that regulates crypto assets in all member states of the European Union. So far, Czech political parties have not expressed their opinion toward crypto assets, even though there are many successful active companies within this sector in the Czech Republic. The main goal of this thesis is to find out the views of Czech political parties on the regulation of crypto assets and the MiCA. In order to achieve this goal, there were several in-depth interviews carried out with politicians and representatives of companies that do business in the crypto sector. Additionally, publicly available sources shared by the political subjects were examined. According to the gathered information, there is no political party, that addresses the topic of crypto assets thoroughly. However, there are individual politicians from parties ODS, TOP 09, ANO 2011, and Piráti, who devote their time to the topic of crypto assets, and they are aware of the main issues within the current solution. It is a question, whether they will find political support within their political parties to improve the local conditions and smooth implementation of MiCA regulation.

Culka, Jiří ; Weiss, Tomáš (advisor) ; Žíla, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis aims to examine the influence of external actors in the Western Balkans, first in general terms, and then the influence of two important power actors, Russia and China, on Serbia as an important target actor. It also discusses the operationalisation of the thesis, the narrowing of the thesis topic, the research question itself and the rationale for its selection. Finally, the third chapter presents the thesis's own comparative case study of the influence of Russia and China as external power actors on Serbia as the target actor, based on the theoretical framework presented in the previous chapter. Finally, it then reaches a synthesizing conclusion, presents key findings regarding the influence of the choice of goals/interests of power actors on the choice of instruments of...
Exploring the Impact of ESG Ratings in Banking: A Study of European Banks
Bošňáková, Gabriela ; Teplý, Petr (advisor) ; Sivá, Soňa (referee)
This thesis examines the impact of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) factors on the financial performance of European banks, focusing on the Weighted average cost of capital and abnormal (WACC) returns during regulatory changes and the COVID-19 pandemic. Using data from 2014 to 2022, the study employs fixed e ects models and event study methodologies to analyze the relation- ship between ESG scores and financial metrics. The findings reveal a complex nonlinear relationship between ESG scores and WACC, suggesting an optimal ESG threshold that minimizes WACC. The study also finds weak correlations between ESG scores and ROE, indicating limited direct e ects on financial outcomes. The results of periods of regulatory change and the COVID-19 cri- sis show inconsistent patterns in abnormal returns without clear evidence that higher ESG scores provide financial resilience. These insights challenge the assumption that higher ESG scores consistently correlate with better financial performance, highlighting the need for more research in di erent conditions and longer periods of time. Two jumps to Europe - Comparison of media representation of Bohemians in European Cups 1987 and 2023
Pasecký, Adam ; Křeček, Jan (advisor) ; Miessler, Jan (referee)
The thesis deals with the topic of media representation of the football club Bohemians Praha 1905 and its performance in international European cups. It will compare how the events of the 1987 cup match were covered by the contemporary media in comparison with the media of 2023 and the cup match of the previous year. The aim will be to juxtapose media from two completely different periods and to reveal the differences brought about by the time gap of 36 years. An important factor will be the comparison of periodicals that have been active from 1987 to the present, or at least follow their predecessors in terms of content. On the theoretical side, the thesis will introduce the role of the media in the representation of sport, establish a socio-political framework and show sport as a cultural phenomenon. The practical part will then include methodology, quantitative or qualitative analysis and then comparison of media content and subsequent interpretation of any differences revealed.
