Refugee Music as a Performance of the Immigration

Concretely is about the music, which originate from Archa Theatre,which is few years attending to this theme. In this music performance cooperate the asylum seekers and the czech and foreign professional artists altogether. I want to analyse how this artistically cooperation is proceeding, which meanings the particular musicians consider in this concept and which message of this music should be adress to audience. This music is set in the context of the complex artistic production with the immigration themes of Archa Theatre. The related intention of this thesis is to show, which meanings of this music and the relative artistic production find the audience.

The thesis "Old masters paintings in photography (with emphasis on the work of Vermeer van Delft)" deal with new reflections of old master's paintings in photography. This problem is shown on example of authors-photographers of the 20th and 21th century, exactly: Tom Hunter and Dorothee Golz, which photographs are played in present time and are considering social problems; Cindy Sherman, Yasumasa Morimura and Hiroshi Sugimoto which use another medium (theater, sculpture) for making a photo and Guido Rey and Richard Polak, photographers from the beginning of the 20th century, which photographs are free inspired by Dutch paintings. key words: Dutch painting in 17th century, photography of 20th and 21th century, re- staging, appropriation, postmodernism, Vermeer van Delft, Tom Hunter, Dorothee Golz, Cindy Sherman, Yasumasa Morimura, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Guido Rey, Richard Polak

Ideology of Liberalism, or Ideology after its own End

The essay begins with Benjamin`s comprehension of truth and his method of constellation which aims to the truth. I connect the method to the act of naming, which I derive from comprehension of subject in German idealism. Method is necessary condition for very constellation of liberal ideology. Contemporary liberalism thus does not only symbolize time after "the end ideology", but even space of time, when the ideology acquire its own most effective form. "The truth became most effective form of lie." In this sense I continue in critique of postmodernism as the ideology of late capitalism. In fine I outline the way to postmodernism by force of "risk thinking" which remains faithful to dialectic. Solely immanent critique which is far from normative critique of postmodernism sets in motion rigid conditions caused by omnipresent ideology.

Aesthetic perception on spectator's participation at the OG (photography, media)

Title: Aesthetic perceptions on spectator's participation at the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada (through photography and mass media) Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the group experience of Czech fans who participated as spectators at the XXI Winter Olympics in Vancouver as well as the documentation of this experience in the form of amateur photographic images which were taken during this international event. Variations in the quality of the fans' experience when watching sporting events through mass media, particularly on television, and when engaging in an authentic experience at a live event were also examined. Methods: To provide an overview of pertinent theory, existing literature was reviewed in order to compile data from which comparisons, analyses and syntheses were formed. For the following section concerning empirical information, a file of Czech persons who participated as spectators at the XXI Olympic Winter Games was created. Data was collected in an ethnographic approach. The aim of this thesis is the examination and analysis of postmodernist overtones in the medium of comics. It is concerned both with the postmodernist content in comics, and comics' possibilities and attributes as a postmodernist medium. The first part of the thesis elaborates on sequential art in general and the essential elements of postmodernism, such as deconstruction, metafiction, and intertextuality, within its context. The second part of the thesis is concerned with selected postmodernist works of prominent comicbook authors: Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. Approches to the Study of Culture and Social Theory

Sociology, social science and human sciences in general are interested in the study of culture since its inception. This concern, however, have transformed over the years and the development of individual disciplines, especially in the 20th century, where the phenomenon of culture has become one of the main indicators of social coexistence. The concept of culture itself represents a very wide range of activities, objects and characteristics tied with the human and his behavior. This work focuses on the process, during which social scientists have begun to perceive the culture no longer just a file or a store of values, but as part of power struggle, hegemony, ideology and oppression in their everyday impact on the scientific knowledge and the creation of social discourse. It notes the rise of critical theory, which arose mainly in the context of the so-called "cultural turn", starting in the postwar period. It records the development of social theory as a discipline combining several approaches, grounded in a larger frame of reference, the main aim is to highlight the difference between social science typical for modernity and more or less postmodern authors, which we nowadays consider the leading scientists and philosophers of the 20th century. Philosophical problems in Zdenek Neubauer`s works

This diploma thesis focuses on the possibility of cognition and roles of philosophy and science as basic forms of knowledge. It is not an analysis of Neubauer's work, but rather an interpretation of its specific parts. The work offers insights into the post-modern treatment of knowledge as it appears in the essays published in the collections Přímluvce postmoderny (An Intercessor of Postmodernity) and O Sněhurce aneb cesta za smyslem bytí a poznání (Of Snowhite, or The Quest for the Meaning of Existence and Cognition). The work describes and amends Neubauer's recognition of the world. It also shows Neubauer's perspective on the imagination, not only as a part of cognition, but also its influence on the development of human society. Besides canceling the monopoly of Science to truthful cognition, it is also guilty of making assumptions about the future, that will almost certainly prove incorrect. The most important part of the work is the question of equality between the perception of social sciences when compared to the perception of exact sciences, and while that question has not been fully answered, already just asking such questions can be useful.

Things and Words in Georgi Gospodinov's Poetry

This MA thesis is primarily concerned with the poetics of the first two poetry collections by the Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov. The said collections, Lapidarium and The Cherry Tree of One People were published for the first time in the 1990s. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the author's debut, Lapidarium; mainly, we are attempting to capture the collection's characteristic traits and draw attention to the conspicious features connecting this oeuvre with the book Tao Te Ching. In the second part we continue by the analysis of The Cherry Tree of One People. We are focusing on the change of the author's poetics and furthermore, we concetrate on the national/supranatural aspects of the texts. In the concluding part, we anchor Gospodinov's work in the wider context of the 1990s and provide a comparison of contemporary Czech and Bulgarian poetry.
