Fall prevention from the nurse's point of view

The bachelor thesis focuses on fall prevention from the perspective of the general nurse. General nurses encounter falls very frequently with health care providers and should be able to act on this issue in both the prevention and management of a fall. This thesis consists of a theoretical and a research part. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of falls and risk groups of patients and other internal and external risk factors that occupy an important role in this issue. It also discusses the role of the general nurse in fall prevention as an integral part of the practice of the profession. The thesis also deals with selected aspects of fall prevention and follow-up of fall occurrence and consequences in patients. It was also important to mention the scales used to assess falls or to reduce the risk of falls. For the research part of this bachelor's thesis, a qualitative data collection method was chosen by using the technique of semi-structured interviews conducted with general nurses of selected wards of internal type of health care providers. The aim of the research part was to find out how general nurses identify patient groups at risk for falls. Also, whether general nurses implement preventive measures for fall occurrence and how they proceed when a fall occurs. Last but not least, it was important to find out how general nurses proceed when a patient is discharged to home care.

Leaving of Czechoslovak democracy giants; comparison of media images of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk and Václav Havel death and funeral in Czech Press

Diploma thesis "Leaving of Czechoslovak democracy giants; comparison of media images of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk's and Vaclav Havel's death and funeral in Czech Press" aims to compare the media images of the presidents' death and funeral in broadsheet and tabloid newspapers of that time. In this matter, media analyzed the lives of these great personalities, their work, political views, their acceptance and renown abroad, their merits and their critical reception as well. The study itself is divided into two main parts. The first one being the theoretical part informs about the political and social context of the time in which Tomas Garrigue Masaryk and Vaclav Havel lived and worked and it discusses their personalities in more details. Furthermore, the methodology used in the thesis is included in this section as well, representing and explaining the method of the media research. In the second practical part, the thesis provides the characteristics of the chosen broadsheet and tabloid newspapers - Lidove noviny, Poledni list and Blesk. By using qualitative analysis the thesis seeks to determine how media presented the presidents at that time. On one hand it attempts to illustrate the parallels that linked these two personalities, on the other hand it endeavours to describe how their images differed....

Analysis of online communication of Bagind

The bachelor's thesis called "An Analysis of Online Communication of Bagind" describes and analyzes online communication of the brand. Due to the ever-increasing number of Internet users, online communication is becoming more and more important. The first part deals with the description of the communication mix, online communication and its specifics, as well as the importance of public relations in the communication of organizations. The second part of the thesis is focused on the introduction of the Bagind brand, its target group, and a brief analysis of online communication of two main competitors. The last part of the thesis contains a description of online channels and tools used by the Bagind brand and a content analysis examining selected content. A chapter with suggestions for improving online communication of the brand is also included. The conclusion summarizes the results of the analysis and the proposed recommendations.

The importance of the nutritional score in patients with the introduced PICC or Midline catheter

The bachelor's thesis: "The Significance of Nutrition Score in the patients with the insertion of PICC and Midline Catheter," evaluates the impact of the nutrition status on the presence of complication in the selected venous devices - various types of Midline catheter and PICC. The presentation is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. In the theoretical part some basic information related to nutritional status and its assessment, malnutrition, nutrition screening, PICC and Midline catheter - indications and contraindications, introduction, complications and management is presented. The role of PICC team in the field of vascular access is mentionned. Data for the empirical part was collected at Medical department of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and Faculty hospital Motol in Prague, Czech Republic. The empirical part contains research methodology, the basic characteristics, the organisation of the investigation and data processing. A total of 206 patients participated in the follow-up, ranging in age from 26 to 98 years, mean age 72 ± 13.2 years and median 74 years. Study of the efects of long therm psychoterapist training SUR on its graduates

This thesis investigates effects of long-term SUR therapist training on its participants' personalities. In theoretical part of the thesis the author defines SUR psychotherapy system, describes its theoretical background and nowadays representation of the training system. She surveys knowledge about personality and its growth. Dynamic psychotherapy as a theoretical source of SUR is described as well. She elaborates specific means used in training process that directly influence personality of the participants. She also investigates personality traits of therapist that determine success of the therapy. Practical part of the thesis describes longitudinal quantitave study of participants undergoing 5-years training in SUR therapy. Personal growth of the participants is studied and compared to general population that have not undergone such a training. Next phase of the research is dedicated to qualitative analysis of semistructured individual interviews with therapist training lecturers aiming to study effectivity of long-term psychotherapist training in SUR system.
