The main objective of this thesis is to extensively study the multi-disciplinary topic of online visual communications within an arts sector. Firstly, a frame generated from a thorough investigation of the field, is further implemented onto the analysed communication strategies of the selected subjects. Subsequently, the findings are further analysed in order to generate a solid background knowledge for a further research. Furthermore, the samples are compared through the lens of the selected case-oriented comparative method, and highlighted via the final SWOT analysis, offering rather descriptive, but deeper knowledge of the topic. Two contemporary arts institutions were selected for the comparison in order to equally consider varying approaches based on diverse background settings of each subject. Finally, there are numerous goals of the thesis as, not only provide answers to the research questions, but also introduce an emerging discipline of visual communication on the Web 2.0 within an arts sector, enabling subsequent research.

Mechanisms and mode of action of essential oils on fungi
Ježková, Tereza ; Koukol, Ondřej (advisor) ; Čmoková, Adéla (referee)
Essential oils are volatile compounds from plants with a wide range of effects. Many of them exhibit antifungal activity. As the resistance of pathogenic fungi to antimycotics is increasing, finding new antifungal agents for the treatment of fungal infections is highly desirable. In order to use essential oils for the production of new drugs, it is necessary to know the exact mechanism of their action. Although it is known a lot about the effects of essential oils on fungi, the particular target in a cell is not always described. In this thesis I summarize the present knowledge about the mechanisms of actions on fungi. I gradually deal with effects of essential oils on cell wall, plasma membrane, mitochondrion, nucleus, quorum sensing, virulence factors, mycotoxin production and fungal development. Generally essential oils do not act on one structure but affect multiple structures and processes at the same time. In the last chapter I mention possible directions for further research of these substances. Key words: essential oils, fungi, antifungal activity, mechanism of action, mode of action
The Context of Literary Journalism: USA and France
Soukeníková, Eva ; Ježková, Tereza (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
Literary journalism is a specific journalism genre which utilizes literary narration. A movement around Tom Wolfe, Truman Capote and other authors was formed in the USA in 1960s. This diploma thesis presents core streams of thought around literary journalism and focuses on its theoretical base in media and literary studies. Furthermore, the thesis compares US literary journalists and their texts with France and its media production. Key issues analysed in this study are theoretical base of literary journalism in the postmodern era, correlations with political and social events, genre comparison in the USA and France, and, finally, dualism of what is considered objective and subjective in literature and in journalism. Theoretical findings are applied in and discussed within the case examples of six authors from both the USA and France. Finally, the thesis opens a further discussion on contemporary perspectives on literary journalism and its representation in the digital space.
The Media as a Theme in the Arts Across the History of the Czech Media
Ježková, Tereza ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Jiroušek, Bohumil (referee) ; Vojtěchovský, Miroslav (referee)
Like newspapers, books, cinema or music, fine art is a medium of human communication, and the carrier of a message. Its role as a specific means of communication has transformed throughout history, along with the role of mass media. Before the rise of mass communications across all of society, this function was to some degree facilitated by works of art. A work of art is itself a medium of communication, while at the same time it can also represent other media - in various stages of the evolution of arts and culture the mass media themselves became the subject of art. This can be defined as the meta-communication of one medium with another. The present dissertation focuses on the research and work of Czech artists engaged with visualizing the means of mass-media communication (periodicals, radio, television) and its actors (the recipients and producers of media content). The relevant works of art for this thesis (paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures) are the focus of a qualitative analysis resulting in an overview of the evolution of this subject matter since the advent of mass media, i.e., from the emergence of the first printed periodicals to the 1960s. My dissertation The Media as a Theme in the Arts Across the History of the Czech Media approaches the topic as historical research viewed...
Vliv veřejného a developerského zájmu na udržitelný rozvoj
Ježková, Tereza
The contemporary cities’ development is concurrently affected by public and business interests and depends mainly on the willingness of these entities to find the common goal they want to reach. By comparing priorities, behaviours and conflicts in case studies, it is possible to determine the changes in the quality of a public space and that of lives of the inhabitants, in the amount of job opportunities and the changes in ecological and hygienic conditions, in case that the developer’s plan will be realized or the public interests will be defended to the maximum extent and what is the view of the city that is reflected in the Local Development Plan. The intention is to uncover whether the public, the Local Development Plan, developers or all of them contribute to the desirable city development.
Media Image of the Art Market
Seimlová, Anna ; Skřivánek, Jan (advisor) ; Ježková, Tereza (referee)
Goals of paper are to create grounded theories that will answer the question "how media inform about three art auctions". First is Hascoe action in London auction house Sotheby's, second one is auction of painting Tvar Modré in Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery and the last one is auction of collection of oil paintings by František Kupka in Dorotheum. Firstly I describe historical phases of auction market and then it's mechanism. Theoretical part consists of information about offer of analyzed action houses and focuses on uniqueness of art pieces, previous owners or marketing strategies. Practical part of analysis defines research issue, paradigm, research materials and describe selected media. Then alalyzes three grounded theories that consist of open coding, axial coding and selective coding. All these phases are illustrated on graphic models and identify theoretical codes. Finally I describe media image of analyzed auctions.
