Ethnic Identity Among Vietnamese Descendants in The Czech Republic: An Intersectional Analysis of The Lived Experiences

Although Vietnamese has currently made up one of the three largest foreign community in the Czech Republic, the number of studies that focus on the challenges of Vietnamese immigrant descendants, especially regarding their ethnic identities in the Czech society is unfortunately confined. Different from their parents, one of the biggest obstacles that young Vietnamese descendants in the Czech Republic are facing in life is the question of their ethnic identities in the term of liminality and being strangers to both cultures (Vietnamese and Czech). Taking those reasons into account, this thesis aims to examine the experiences of "being stuck in-between" and confronting the process of (re)forming and shifting ethnic identities among children of Vietnamese immigrants in the Czech Republic in the relation with other gendered identities that they define with. Based on a feminist approach, this paper pulls together prior and existing studies, developing from the data collected from questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews to illustrate the subject matter. Manifests of antifeminism in contemporary teaching of the Roman Catholic Church

The diploma thesis Antifeminism in Contemporary Teaching of the Roman Catholic Church examines the mechanisms which shape the identity of women in Roman Catholic teachings. This is the starting point for the subsequent constitution of gender order, i.e. the way the relationship between man and woman is constructed, and in which woman is subordinated to man. To support the subordinate position of women, Roman Catholic theology implemented theory of complementarity into its teachings. This inequality provides an important underpinning of gender-based violence. Feminist movement and feminist theology, such as that of Mary Daly brought new analytical tools in the 1960s and 1970s to understand the functioning of the social mechanisms that lead to women's subordination. These tools are, in particular, feminist critique and perspective, critique of power relations and of androcentrism, and a specifically feminist understanding of woman's identity. The Istanbul Convention, with its perspective that rejects inequality, promotes criticism of power relations and describes violence against women as gender-based violence, is conceptually in accordance with the methods and goals of the feminist movement as well as with democratic principles. Job Automation and its Impacts

This master's thesis explores how job automation has influenced a selected bank branch workplace and what role gender plays in this process. The thesis is based on a case study focused on a team from one anonymized Czech branch of an international bank where robots are being introduced into the work process. Between November 2018 and February 2019, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six members of this team and obtained data were subjected to an analysis, the results of which are presented in this thesis. Interview questions revolved around changes in the workplace and the evaluation of these changes by the employees. The thesis therefore examines, among other things, whether robots have had any impact on working hours or workplace interpersonal relationships, what control tools narrators have had to monitor the work process, how robots have highlighted existing gender inequalities in the workplace and what issues have arisen after their implementation. The case study has pointed out the importance of further, closer inspection of robot implementation cases, each of which may be affected by a number of specific elements. Political Thought of Judith Butler

My thesis is focused on critical analysis of political thought of American philosopher Judith Butler. Butler is concerned with the relationship between individual identity and collective subjectivity, and her works - which caused many critical reactions - represent one of the most interesting discussion in the field of feminist political philosophy. Butler is mainly concerned with the question, how various political strategies (eg. feminism) could be based on common interests of various agents, and not on their supposedly stable identity (eg. sex and gender). Her criticism of unproblematized "natural" identities is important not only to the constitution of any individual identity, but also for the notion of the political dimension of a collective subject. The introductory chapters of my thesis are concerned with early thought of Butler, mainly with her critical relationship to the "second wave" feminism, and with her notion of the performative constitution of gender identity. Next chapters explore the shift in her thinking from analysis of gender and sex towards more general themes of political thought: nation, race, class, universalism, state censorship, possibility of resistance or emergence of a collective subject without stable unifying principle. "There are not many of us girls and that is a shame". Low number of female students at technical secondary schools

This diploma thesis is attentive to very low numbers of girls, studying at technically oriented secondary industrial schools. It examines the factors, which lead to the reasons why girls are not motivated to study at the schools of this kind, as well as factors which cause that they do enter these schools, such as their interest in studying technologies, their motivation in the form of their future professional application or the existence of patterns in the form of people who they imitate. In the theoretical part, which examines the causes of the absence of female students, the work criticises the claim that boys are more talented for studying technical disciplines, while girls excel in humanities. It points to ways of keeping gender stereotyped thinking, for example, a strongly rooted opinion, that little girls should be led to take care of children and other persons, housework, and professions which are an extension of their domestic roles into the public sphere. After this work identifies the risks and impacts of the absence of girls in technical fields, there are mentioned some procedures that should be introduced in the education of children in elementary schools, so that the children may not have to decide on their future field of study based on generally accepted gender stereotypes. The concept of reproductive labour in Marxist feminism

The aim of this thesis is to identify the similarities and differences between the concept of reproductive labour, as it was developed in Marxist feminism in the 1970s, and its conceptualisation in contemporary Marxist and socialist feminism, as it appears in the debate reflecting the new international division of labour and neoliberalism. The thesis starts by analysing the concept of reproductive labour, as it emerged during the debate in the 1970s, then focuses on contemporary conceptions that use the term and at the same time deal with phenomena related to globalisation and neoliberalism. The final part compares the two conceptions and identifies key characteristics of reproductive labour that are reflected in both debates.
