Mužíková, Markéta ; Maslowski, Nicolas (advisor) ; Dudová, Radka (referee)
This diploma thesis entitled "Social Pro-choice movement in Ireland and Switzerland" aims to gain insight into Pro-choice organizations as a social movement in the Republic of Ireland and Switzerland. At first I tried to define what I actually mean by term "pro-choice". I also outlined some of the definitions of social movements and theories that deal with social movements and give an insight into their research. The next chapter is already devoted to the Ireland. Here I present a brief history of the republic, political system, economy, language, religion, and especially the history of the abortion law. In the next subsection about Pro-choice organizations I am writing about the creation and development of Pro-choice organizations in this country. And finally there is also the research part of this work, which is focusing on the frame analysis of the leaflets. The third chapter focuses on Switzerland. In this section are the same chapters focused on the history, politics, economics, language, religion, history, abortion law history, Pro- choice organizations history and the frame analysis. In the last chapter, I compared these two countries from the point of view of the frame analysis, their success and I could not ignore the political and cultural system. Cloning, expression and purification of human AKR1C3
Dudová, Radka ; Wsól, Vladimír (advisor) ; Novotná, Eva (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Dudová Radka Supervisor: Prof. Ing. Vladimír Wsól, Ph.D Title of diploma thesis: Cloning, expression and purification of human AKR1C3 The purification of the vector pOTB7 containing the coding sequence ( CDS ) of aldo-keto reductase 1C3 ( AKR1C3 ) in Escherichia coli ( E.coli ) cells was performed by an alkaline lysis method. The coding sequence was then amplified by polymerase chain reaction. Result accuracy of the demonstrated step was shown by verification of the size of the synthesized fragment and by a restrictive analysis with the restriction endonuclease PvuII. In the second step, the coding sequence was ligated into the Topo 2.1 vector which was transformed into competent E. coli cells. The cells were multiplied and Topo 2.1 vector with the inserted code sequence was obtained by the alkaline lysis method. The result was verified by comparing of the size of the Topo 2.1 vector without inserted CDS and the vector Topo 2.1 with the CDS on an agarose gel and the subsequent restrictive analysis with the restriction endonuclease HindIII. The coding sequence was verified by the sequenation. There was also carried out the subcloning of the CDS from the Topo 2.1 vector into the express...
Distinction in the sociological theory of Pierre Bourdieu
Knechtlová, Jana ; Dudová, Radka (referee) ; Šubrt, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis called Distinction in Sociological Theory of Pierre Bourdieu is mostly a theoretical writing focused on a description of the distinction mechanism. The main source of information is an almost identically called book written by the above mentioned french sociologist and antropologist, the mechanism of distinction is after a detailled introspection set into a larger context of Bourdieu's theory. In the beginning a few key notions are presented, inclusive of a short biography, introduction of certain sources of inspiration and, most important, the position of Bourdieu's theory within an almost classical dualism of paradigms. The next part describes in full detail some key theoretical notions on which a later understanding of Bourdieu's distinction is based. The mechanism itself is questionned with a particular stress on individual differences not having been captured in previous parts of the text. It is especially the importace of mental pair dualities within the a classifying mental operation and their social consequences, such as a proces of social inclusion, a creation of social identity a complementary running of social exclusion. The above mentioned social processes are above all a consequence of a symbolical violence that socially acting individuals are executing while the classification is...
Women in ICT professions and ICT sector in the Czech Republic
Kristová, Markéta ; Šiklová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Dudová, Radka (referee) ; Riegel, Karel (referee)
This thesis analyses the low representation of women in the ICT professions as well as their inadequate representation in the ICT companies in the Czech Republic. Given it is the very first study of this kind in the Czech Republic, it also provides comprehensive catalogue of relevant foreign theoretical studies and hypothesis, which examine the issue of gender gap in the ICT. This thesis also deals with social and historical factors that - as approved by numerous empirical studies - have negative impact on the way girls and women relate to information and communication technologies, resulting in a low representation of women in the ICT professions. The above factors are applied to the context of the Czech society, using academic studies and other relevant sources in the field of equal opportunities, including qualitative interviews, which I conducted with ICT teachers and lecturers as well as women and men working in the ICT field. Not last, the thesis builds upon a qualitative empirical probe, which aims to introduce more detailed information about the experiences of women holding ICT positions in the Czech Republic. This particular research failed to prove the presumption that the work environment in the ICT companies in the Czech Republic is not sufficiently friendly or obliging towards women. Moreover,...

Pfeiferová, Štěpánka ; Dudová, Radka (referee) ; Šubrt, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis "Women in the Role of Breadwinners and Care-takers: Work and Family Strategies of Single Mothers. Qualitative Inquiry" was written on the bases of a qualitative inquiry concerning the mutual relationship of single mother's work and private lives which is a part of the research "The Context of Changes in the Labour Market and Forms of Private, Family and Partner Life in Czech Society", carried out by the Gender and Sociology Department of the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The first part tries to survey the important labour market changes and the most distinctive family behaviour trends after 1989. The analytic part has as its subject to observe the mutual relationship of the changes within the two fields on a particular group of single mothers. To seize the problem, the method of semi-structured qualitative interviews was used, completed by a statistical analysis of previous representative survey data. The procedures applied should have helped to find an answer to the two key questions: In which way the current labour market demands reflect in the partnerships' fragility and How the single mothers' family situation affects their work behaviour. It reveals that structural changes of the labour market are closely related to the family-life modifications. It...
Fatherhood after parental separation
Dudová, Radka ; Šubrt, Jiří (advisor) ; Kozlová, Lucie (referee) ; Rabušic, Ladislav (referee)
Studies on fatherhood after a divorce usually focus on the father in terms of his negative or positive effect on the development of the child rather than as an actor experiencing a complicated personal and social situation. This study focuses on fatherhood as it is experienced and constructed by men who are divorced, do not have custody of their children, and no longer share a household with their children. It is aimed at analysing the changes in the role, identity, and practices of fathers after a divorce. The methodology used in the research is draws on a constructivist version of grounded theory, based on the assumption that observed reality arises out of the interpretative process and its temporal and cultural context. Thus the aim is not to identify a single objective reality but to observe the ways in which the subjects construct and interpret their own subjective reality. In the theoretical introduction to the study, contemporary theories on private life are discussed, in particular the theory of the individualised process, presented by Ulrich Beck and Elisabeth Beck-Gersheim, François de Singly and Anthony Giddens. The main factor for the increasing fragility of contemporary marriage and the failure of partner relationships is seen as lying in the individualisation of society. Theoretical findings...
