Female students in technical fields form a minority of these schools and may encounter during their studies prejudiced behaviour of male students and teachers because of their gender. It is surveyed by qualitative methods which specific gender-stereotyped patterns occur on the faculties of Czech Technical University which was chosen as the representative technical university. Furthermore, this thesis deals with attitude of female students to these stereotypes and majority male group in these fields. It was found that although male students and teachers treat girls mostly helpful and positive, stereotypical opinions about women as less technically capable still persist. Some students or teachers show prejudice in their behaviour. Female students do not consider these prejudices as a problem. During studies, they met with prejudicial behaviour, but do not consider it as a barrier that could not be overcome. Often these young women are those who are more compatible with young men, they respect that men dominate in technical field and they act accordingly. Bachelor thesis "Change in czech women's opinions and attitudes towards family and reproductive behaviour" is focused on qualitative research conducted among two generations of czech women. It was also possible to find out, where family patterns were transmitted from mother to daugher through socialization. Questions were split into three parts, the first one was focused on the family of origin, the second one on the procreative family and the third one has included questions about attitudes towards family as an instititution. All daughters are currently college students, so college education was also examined in reference to planned life cycle. The gathered data were interpreted within the historical context. The education of mothers was influenced by communism, while girls have been growing up in democratic society.

Koloušková, Barbora ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Cidlinská, Kateřina (referee)
This work presents complex look at the issue of gender segregation of the labour market in the Czech republic. Gender segregation in the labour market is one of the main causes of gender inequality. It causes different representation of men and women in different occupations and working positions. Author describes womens' position in the labour market and follows with data analysis, that shows existence of this problem in the Czech republic and its' range. She presents basic theories explaining gender segregation of the labour market and examines its' causes and effects. She devides segregation into the horizontal and vertical segregation, which are eventually connected to show the degree of overall segregation. Horizontal segregation refers to disproportionate representation of men and women in different sectors and jobs. Vertical segregation shows their presence in various working positions. The degree of segregation has only been decreasing very slowly during the past 20 years and the Czech labout market is still highly segregated into female and male occupations. This segregation causes social and wage differentiation which is detrimental to women.
Political and Legislative discourse about the substitute infant's alimony in Czech Republic
Cidlinská, Kateřina ; Pavlík, Petr (advisor) ; Havelková, Barbara (referee)
Czech Republic, like other European states with high divorce rate, is facing high incidence of failure to pay child maintenance. Nonpayment of child maintenance threatens healthy and successful development of children and has a significant gender aspect - the majority of solo parents, who face financial distress, are women. Being a solo mother together with the nonpayment of child maintenance and the discrimination of women on the labor market (and other effects of gender inequalities) are the main factors of the expanding phenomenon of feminization of poverty. One possible solution is an institute of advanced child maintenance, which is becoming increasingly implemented on international scale. There have already been three attempts to adopt this solution in the Czech Republic, all of them unsuccessful. The fourth one is recently being discussed in the Parliament. The aim of this thesis is to uncover the reasons for the previous failures. It maps the Czech political and legislative discourse on advanced child maintenance and analyzes it in international context. The research subjects are: Czech advanced child maintenance bills, selected foreign laws on this institute, political debates on the bills (parliamentary discussions and opinions of relevant state authorities) and interviews with Czech...
