Queer aging in social work and social services in Prague

Czech society is slowly becoming more tolarant towards LGBTI+ people. How would they react to LGBTI+ seniors, now the hidden minority, from whom they mostly do not asume any other than heterosexual orientation? Is the topic of LGBTI+ aging present in the practise of social workers whose are in contact with LGBTI+ seniors almost on daily basis? This thesis aims to reflect the topic of the needs of aging LGBTI+ people in residential and outreach services in Prague through the lense of social workers themselves and threir possible facilitatiors and barriers in relations to the performance of practical social work and the topic of LGBTI+. Following analysis will provide a set of knowledges that can provide organizations working with the insight of the topic of LGBTI+ into the success of promoting the topic in social services and the possible need for education of social workers. Evaluation Tool for Working with Sexuality of the Elderly in Social Care Services

Sexuality and intimacy of the elderly have been the focus of increasing attention of international research and everyday care in recent years, and as such it more commonly appears even in Czech institutionalized aged care. This thesis aims to create a tool that may be used for the evaluation of the as-is state regarding sexuality the of the elderly. It focuses mainly on the attitudes, and competencies of the staff of aged care, and their support in the organizational structure. The tool is based on factors identified in the literature review and may be used by different organizations providing aged care to evaluate itself and identify possible interventions regarding the sexuality of its clients. Feasibility of advance directives in paramedic care

This diploma thesis deals with feasibility of advance directives in the practice of emergency medical services. It explores how two emergency medical services deal with rising public interest in this topic - The Emergency medical service of Central Bohemia Region and of Vysočina Region in Czech Republic. The goal of the thesis is to detect under what circumstances can the EMS (emergency medical services) play a functional role in the practice of patients end-of-life decisions and in situations containing advance directives. Another goal is to make a set of recommendations for the organizations which could potentially help with dealing with advance directives in pre-hospital care. The empirical part of the study is constructed using a case study approach, it analyses organizational tools, documentation, and internal legislation. It is also made using semi structured interviews with the employees of both organizations. All acquired information is then divided under several categories that are profitable for the case study. Social isolation during Covid-19 pandemic: the perspective of the elderly living alone

This thesis concerns the problem of social isolation in older adults living alone. It authentically captures the unique experience of older people during the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim of this work is to understand whether older people think their needs changed during the period of Covid-19 pandemic in comparison with the time before it, and moreover to formulate recommendations for field workers providing health and social services, general practitioners and municipalities with extended powers. This thesis is processed by the method of interpretive phenomenological analysis. The theoretical part presents a view of social isolation in older adults, risk factors leading to it and possibilities of prevention through various social institutions. It focuses not only on the period of the Covid-19 pandemic when the risk of social isolation was significantly influenced by the emergency measures against the spread of the diseases but also on the period before its onset. The diploma theses deals with aspects influencing the cooperation of parents of hospitalzed children and members of a multidisciplinary team of non-medical health professionals during hospitalization at the Department of Pediatric Neurology at the Motol Hospital. The aim of the thesis is to map these aspeckts from the point of view of health professionals and the parents of hospitalized children. The work is divided into a theoretical part and an empirical part. In the theoretical part I deal with theoretical knowledge that relates to the topic. The empirical part is processed by the method of qualitative research, specifically through semi-structured interviews. The obtained data are connected in the discussion with the theoretical framework of the topic. The aspects influencing the cooperation of parents of patients and healthcare professionals identified by the reseach are intertwined and ifluence each other, most of them are related to communication between healthcare professionals and parents. IN ENGLISH The Thesis Introduction of a new social service - community housing for multiple-problem clients "KOMUBYT" into the law on social services with the support of an advocacy campaign deals with the creation of an argumentative basis for creating an advocacy campaign that will create a legislative space for KOMUBYT to enter the law on social services. The advocacy campaign is designed on the basis of qualitative research between current and former politicians (municipal and parliamentary), stakeholders whose task is to set social policy, and social services.
Person-centered Care in Residential Care Facility for the Elderly

The aim of this thesis is to identify and to describe barriers to the implementation of person-centered care in specific residential care facility for the elderly. For this purpose, the author firstly conceptualizes the concept of person-centered care. Consequently, she develops the Framework for conducting research. The theoretical portion consists of five chapters. The first chapter focuses on the person- centered care concept introduction, then it describes the relationship between concepts 'individualization of care' and 'person-centered care'. In the conclusion of the first chapter, the Schema of the concept is introduced. The Schema visualizes the structure for chapters two to five. In those chapters, a description of the systems defined in the Schema is provided. Those are: Care Recipients, Direct Care Actors, and Service Providers. The end of the first part brings the topic of a suitable organizational culture. The Importance of Communication in a Relation to the Comparison the Expectations of Relatives of Clients in Residential Home with a Real Practice

This master thesis deals with the issue of expectations of relatives of residential care clients in the concrete Residential home, and it also discusses the topic of communication between relatives of those clients and employees from this organization. First of all, the thesis describes the theoretical basis of the issue, while the attention is paid to the term of old age and possibilities of an elderly support. Than the process of transition to a residential home is described, as well as the possibilities of cooperation between the staff and clients' relatives. The aim of this thesis is to through semi-structured interviews find out how can the clients' relatives learn about the real picture of care in the Residential home and how it corresponds with their expectations. The attention is also paid to evaluation of the system of communication between these actors. The results indicate no expectations of the relatives about this kind of social service. The research identified different perception of communication frequency within both groups of informers. This diplom thesis is describing the direction of the human resources in nonprofit organizations, which got during the years 2013 - 2015 the award of "Nonprofit organisation of the year", organized by the civil society development foundation. This organisation itself belongs to stable nonprofit organisations in the Czech republic and its goal is the development of the czech nonprofit segment. The teoretical base is the interception of the fact, that the most valuable source of the organisations are its emplyees. The first part of this work is describing the general entrance in the civil segment, points at the basical construction of the sucessful nonprofit organisation and focuses at the specificity of the human resources direction in the nonprofit organisations, on the careof the employees and volunteers at all. In the practical part I am trying to answer the question how do the sucesfull nonprofit organisations care about theis employees and volunteers and what kind of quidance do they use. The main method used ist the analysis of the documents and a half structured interviews. Getting old at home - getting old in a town.

This thesis discusses dignity of aging and elderly citizens and the ways in which it is supported within a village community. Dignity is seen as the most important and universal human need, and not only for elderly people. Its significance and protection is anchored in international and national legal documents which are also binding at lower levels of state administration including the community and municipality level. Municipalities are public institutions obliged to create social policies. Citizens need to be involved and to participate in constructing these policies that touch upon the needs of specific groups of them, including that of the elderly. Using several methods, the analytical part describes the situation in a particular village community. The method of social-demographic analysis is based on statistical data and literature. Participant observation and close study of documents provide additional information to the analysis of secondary data. The results show up-to-date age structure and the present state of coexistence of different people in the community.
