Antibody response of anseriform birds against avian schistosomes
HAVELKOVÁ, Markéta
Flukes of the genus Trichobilharzia are typical parasites using aquatic gastropods as intermediate hosts and birds as definitive hosts. However, infectious stages in open water are able to penetrate the skin of a mammal, including humans, and thereby induce a hypersensitivity reaction known as swimmer's itch. Infection with neurotropic species T. regenti in ducks induces an increase in level of IgY antibody which recognize certain parasitic antigens. In this work, these parameters in two other relative but visceral species, T. szidati and T. franki, and cross-reactivity of antibodies in serum of infected duck against heterologous parasitic antigen by ELISA and Western blot were characterized. Antibodies of ducks infected with T. szidati showed very low reactivity with all three parasitic antigens in compare to ducks infected with T. franki or T. regenti. The previously identified strongly immunogenic T. regenti antigens have been evaluated as species non-specific for all trichobilharzia species studied, but useful for avian fluke infection in wild individuals diagnosis.
Biography of Professor Jan Bouzek

I also take into account the electoral preferences of individual respondents during the analysis. I will use data from public opinion polls for my research on secondary data analysis and other research method will be content analysis.
Altitude as factor influencing genetic structure of populations
Havelková, Markéta ; Munclinger, Pavel (advisor) ; Sedláček, Ondřej (referee)
Altitudinal gradient creates favorable system for research of populations from different altitudes and the influence of both neutral evolutionary processes and local conditions on their genetic structure. Adaptation of different genotypes to the local conditions is generally attributed to clinal variability of genetically determined features and geographic variation of phenotypes in populations. Thanks to their different adaptations to specific environments, genetic drift and possibly limited gene flow, populations can show significant variability that may lead to speciation events. Altitude represents selective pressure for organisms primarily due to reduced partial oxygen pressure, lowered temperature and increased exposure to UV light. Genetic differences created due to location of the population on altitude gradient can be evaluated based on the nature of climate change. There is strong evidence for the importance of altitude adaptations at molecular level for certain key genes, particularly for hemoglobin and mitochondrial genes.
Research of expert capacities of Czech political parties in the field of reform of the pension system
Havelková, Markéta ; Novotný, Vilém (advisor) ; Potůček, Martin (referee)
Political parties in the Czech Republic have a dominant position in decision-making and nomination of public representatives. At the same time they must deal with complex problems, such as pension reform. I suppose therefore that they need an expert opinions for building their decision-making. Therefore, I would like to figure out my research how to deal with this, how they are able to generate the requisite expertise and how that expertise is used in the final decision. I wonder how institutional arrangements of political parties affects the process of creating professional views on public policy, namely to focus on the reform of the Czech pension system. Where and how exactly are formed the expert views on the functioning of the pension system in different political parties? I would like to reveal the basic criteria that determine who is considered an expert, and how this person is related to the organization of political party. I also focus on mainstreaming expertise during the subsequent political decisions. The basic methods of research will document analysis, interviews and observations.

The Content Analysis of the Magazine Ona Dnes from the Gender Perspective
Havelková, Michaela ; Pavlík, Petr (advisor) ; Valdrová, Jana (referee)
The subject of the dissertation is the content analysis of the magazine "Ona Dnes" from the gender perspective. The main intention will be to analyze the image of women in this magazine in the context of their actual position in the Czech society and underlying medial theories. The image of women how it is presented in media are i.a. the resources of the normative information about what the "right woman" should look like, what desires and ambitions she has to share. That is why the information that media produce is a sort of testimony about the status of women in society - namely from two perspectives. They are prompting the way how women understand themselves and also how they are taken by their surroundings. "Ona Dnes" presents itself as a periodical intended for the modern woman. That is why it is interesting to investigate if the presented constructions of the femininity really show any new aspects or if it is only the old content "dressed in the new coat". At the same time I try to confront my findings with the conclusions of the similar foreign studies. Very interesting theoretical question also is to what extent is the Czech medial production specific (from the gendre perspective). Especially if we talk about the magazine, that is not only some clone of the foreign periodical.
