Strengthening of reinforced concrete bridges with prestressing cables using engineering optimization
Svoboda, Adam ; Kulhavý, Tomáš (referee) ; Hrdoušek, Vladislav (referee) ; Klusáček, Ladislav (advisor)
This dissertation deals with the strengthening of reinforced concrete bridges built between 1900-1940, which still represent an important part of the road infrastructure of the Czech Republic. The strengthening of the existing bridges represents an efficient alternative to a complete replacement of the bridge structure, both from the technical and especially from the economic point of view, which plays a significant role in the decisionmaking process in bridge management. By choosing an appropriate strengthening method, the existing reinforced structure can be used efficiently while meeting all the requirements. The main objective of this dissertation is to introduce engineering optimization approaches to the design of strengthening system for reinforced concrete bridges using the method of post-tensioning with prestressing cables led in substitute cable ducts (substitute cable duct method) drilled in the original structures of the strengthened bridges. The sub-objective of this dissertation lies in verification of the structural formation of deviators in the original concrete of the bridge structures with varying radii of curvature and their effect on the reliability of prestressing cables.
Ethics of Political Influence on World Sport
Mach, Matěj ; Kašpar, Ladislav (advisor) ; Suchý, Jiří (referee)
The thesis deals with the political influence of modern sport and its ethical aspects. The author of the thesis aims to criticize actions in world sport with the help of basic ethical ideas about correct decision-making. He follows the controversial question of whether politics belong to sport and whether it is possible to separate these industries. In the first part, he presents the basics of ethics and its goals, which are supposed to help determine the correctness of actions in the world of sports. Following on from ethics, he then points out the connection between ethics and sport, where he proves the correctness of practicing sport with the help of professional literature. In the second part, he describes the process of emergence of sport as such, as well as the manifestation of the influence of world sports events by politics on specific cases and their impact on sport overall and society. At the end, the author answers the ethical questions that arise from the issue of the topic. It is based on the collection of information from professional literature and publicly available periodicals, where he gets to the result that the separation of politics and sport is not possible.
Changes of the catecholamins, serotonine and lactate levels during sport climbing on a climbing wall depending on the leader climber's style of belaying
Strnadová, Kateřina ; Vomáčko, Ladislav (advisor) ; Bunc, Václav (referee)
Title: Changes of the catecholamins, serotonine and lactate levels during sport climbing on a climbing wall depending on the leader climber's style of belaying. Goals: The Goal of this thesis is to build on the bachelor thesis and develop its goals. The research is focused on a detection of blood hormonal changes before performance, right after it and after a 15- minute pacification depending on a style of a personal profile and style of belaying of the climbers. Hormonal changes have been compared during the performance on two climbing routes of the same difficulty and different styles of belaying. Methods: The randomized research sample consisted of 10 women, climbers, who climbed two routes using the OS (on sight) style on the level of maximum effort. One of the routes was climbed with clipping in protection points against the second route, which was climbed without protection points. The research was performed using a blood collection from v. brachialis and spinning off the blood plasma of the collected blood. Lactate was determined on Siemens Adria 1800 in a routine laboratory, serotonine was determined using LS-MS/MS with a gradient elution. Catecholamines were determined using LS-MS/MS with an isocratic elution. The survey composed of three psychological questionnaires (DMV, RCAI, Eysenck's...
Antitumor activity of HPMA copolymer-bound gemcitabine conjugate potentiation by IAP inhibitors
Ivančík, Martin ; Kovář, Marek (advisor) ; Anděra, Ladislav (referee)
Cancer represents a significant global health challenge, with a substantially increasing incidence. There is a critical need for enhanced prevention, early detection, and improved therapeutic approaches to treat malignant diseases. While chemotherapy remains a standard treatment for many cancers, its efficacy is often limited by cytotoxic effects on healthy cells and numerous side toxicities. In response to these challenges, novel strategies such as combination therapies and drug delivery systems have emerged. In this project, we investigated the cytostatic and cytotoxic effects of two inhibitors of IAP (inhibitor of apoptosis) proteins, LCL-161 and AZD5582, and their potential to boost the anticancer activity of gemcitabine. These compounds were evaluated in five human cancer cell lines: pancreatic (PANC1, BxPC- 3, MiaPaca-2), prostatic (PC-3), and breast (MDA-MB-231) carcinomas. Both IAP inhibitors demonstrated anticancer activity as single agents, with the MiaPaca-2 and BxPC-3 cell lines showing the highest sensitivity. No correlation was observed between the expression levels of IAP genes (cIAP1, cIAP2, XIAP) and the sensitivity of cell lines to IAP inhibitors. However, four of five tested cell lines possessed a consistent pattern in the expression of these three genes. IAP inhibitors were able...
Preparatory exercises to eliminate the most common faults in hurdles
Petřík, Pavel ; Jandová, Soňa (advisor) ; Kašpar, Ladislav (referee)
Diploma thesis is focused on the mistakes of hurdle running. Technical performance is very often ignored to the exclusion of training intensity and volume. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the technical faults and then describe preliminary exercises that will improve the technical performance of the different parts of hurdle running. In the theoretical part, the readers are introduced to information related to hurdle running (start, technique, rhythmic unit, etc.). In addition, the theoretical part introduces several aspects that lead to improving hurdling performance, such as strength, speed, and other skills. Lastly, the connection between psychology and sport is mentioned, where learning and temperament are mainly discussed. A very peripheral view of the philosophy of sport is mentioned in the thesis. Subsequently, we have taken pictures and analyzed them and named the most common mistakes in hurdling technique. We then applied preliminary exercises for 10 weeks and then took a second picture record. After the intervention program, we verified the athlete's progress. In most cases, the program worked as expected, only in one case the expected result did not occur. The last subchapter deals with the alternative use of obstacle courses in school physical education classes. The thesis then...
