Collecting the EU's Regional Funds
Lindenberg, Friedrich
One of the key funding mechanisms of the European Union is the Regional Policy, which helps to implement infrastructure projects across the 27 member states. Money is allocated along a set of objectives and disbursed at the regional level, by 60-odd managing bodies. But who is getting the money and what is it really spent on? The answer lies distributed across the local administrations and has only been collected into a common database once, in 2010. It took the TBIJ and Financial Times eight months to gather the information, leading to a series of disclosures about misallocated funds and shady projects. This is why we believe that there should be a constantly-updated database of these reports, maintained by an open community and available as a resource to journalists and policy makers at any time. The right time to start such a data commons, as the 2007-2013 budgetary cycle of the EU is coming to a close and it's time to get a picture of how well the goals set out for 347 billion Euros of funding during this period have been reflected in actual projects. We want to make a map of member states and regions where open data projects are already collecting this data and then form small teams to take on the uncharted terrtories, find PDF reports and to convert them to clean and useable data. So, join the ERDF Ghostbusters and help us to map the European money!

Income tax in the Czech republic and the European union
Nováková, Marta ; Marková, Hana (referee) ; Boháč, Radim (referee)
Taxes, one of the basic fiscal instruments, form the important part of the revenue of the national budget and thus enable the state to carry out its basic functions concerning especially the allocation of monetary resources into areas like health care, social services, defence and justice. At the time of socialism the economy in some European countries was in a deep crisis. The states reacted to recession resulting from the ineffective economy by taking loans from abroad. In order to overcome such debts the states started to impose the higher tax rates on the population which enables the economies slowly to grow. As a result, the governments were gradually able to reduce the tax rates, which had a favourable impact on population as well as on enterprises. The ex- socialistic European countries progressively try to catch up the advanced countries and their standart of living and taxation is an indispensable tool how to achieve this purpose. In Europe there were several tax reforms in last years, most of them in ex- socialistic European countries. In those reforms some interesting items occurred that could be taken over in other countries. Each state has the right to determine the conditions of tax collection from taxable entities within its territory. Tax liability is established by tax laws. In each...

This (bachelor) thesis concerns the phenomenon of Hieronymus Bosh and its possible links to art and life of Venice and Veneto in the sixteen century. The title of it is: Hieronymus Bosch and Venice. It is trying to set up tangible hypothesis based on broad study on literature concerning Bosch, especially his paitings, accommodated now in Palazzo Ducale in Venice,. Further it concerns on the sixteen century Veneto and, specifically and most importantly the mighty and beautiful art of the Serenissima. It is describing eventually indicated links if in at least two sources. It finally synthetizes the literature and concludes: there are no such confirmed indications in serious literature. It is further trying to include the panels in venezian contemporary art and its development, and is looking for any descendents of the Master in Veneto and in wider Europe, too. It gathers all Venetian donors and supporters, who had connections or knowledge on Bosch, Mainly it outlines the collection of Bosch's paintings owned by Cardinal Grimani; in comparison, too, other European noted collections, and their results. This work reveals importance of the works of Bosch and interest among the historians of arts since modern age, including last issues, on the other hand, the lack of serious studies on this specific...

Jiří Kolář's Nový don Quijote
Říha, Jakub ; Šrámek, Petr (advisor) ; Jiráček, Pavel (referee)
My thesis "Jiří Kolář's Nový don Quijote" focuses on the hitherto unknown manuscript of Jiří Kolář called Nový don Quijote (The New Don Quixote). It was written between 1936 and 1938/1939; in Kolář's bibliography it thus occupies a position between the typescript "novel reafora" Rudý havran (The Red Raven, written 1934-1936) and Kolář's first published collection of poems Křestný list (Birth Certificate,1941). Nový don Quijote is a poetical autobiography and it closes the first period of Kolář's literary work. It is divided into three parts in which the author summarizes his personal, erotic and creative life and builds his "poetical genealogy". The second part contains pieces of Kolář's older work, including two extensive examples from Rudý havran. Seen from this perspective Nový don Quijote is an invaluable source for the understanding of Kolář's early published writings. My thesis is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the poetics of Nový don Quijote. It contains a brief description of formal inovations, examples of intertextuality and main motifs and themes of Nový don Quijote. The second part is a description of the editor's work with the text including a detailed description of textual sources, textual changes, linguistic and stylistic revisions and the making of editor's note. The...

Source code generator
Juhos, Pavol ; Yaghob, Jakub (referee) ; Bednárek, David (advisor)
It is a common practice to perform compiler testing with a set of hand-written sample programs. However, gathering larger collections of high-quality test cases is a di ficult and time consuming task. This work explores the potential of automatic source code generation techniques to simplify the construction of test suites for compilers and other source code processing tools (e.g. pretty-printers, static code analysis tools, refactoring engines, etc.). The goal is to design a source code generator capable of producing compiletime correct programs in a selected high-level programming language. A set of theoretical methods and algorithms for pseudo-random source code generation is presented. Specifi c methods are designed for handling context-free and context-sensitive syntax rules of the target languages. The applicability of these methods in practice is demonstrated by the implementation of three prototype tools two source code generators and one grammar analysis tool. One of the source code generators produces random sentences according to a given stochastic context-free grammar while the other can be used for generation of ISO/IEC 7185:1990 conformant Pascal programs.

Analysis of software requirements in the environment of bank instituiton
Theier, Radek ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Benešovský, Miroslav (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the requirements engineering as one of the key areas of development of software applications. By requirements prospective users express their needs and goals which shall be achieved using the developed application. The correctness and completeness of the requirements is thus critical for the success of any software project. The main objective of this dissertation is determination of steps which must be made to improve quality of requirements on real software project in Czech financial institution. This is achieved by analysis of current requirements development process as well as by analysis of the sample of specific requirements. One part of the carried out analysis focuses also on the revision of actual settings of Atlassian JIRA application which is used for requirements management. Based on the analysis some crucial shortcomings are identified and steps for their elimination are introduced. This includes, inter alia, manual of how to specify correct requirements and checklists for different actors who work with requirements. The theoretical part gives a comprehensive overview of selected techniques and practices which are applicable for requirements gathering and analysis. Every mentioned technique is then evaluated from the perspective of its usability in the environment of large Czech bank. This overview can be useful both for junior analytics as a collection of best practices and for senior analytics as an overview of possible areas for their professional development.
