What Is (Not) Talked About. An Analysis of Political Discourse of Care During Covid Pandemic
Homfray, Šárka ; Jiroutová Kynčlová, Tereza (advisor) ; Kolářová, Kateřina (referee)
The thesis examines the political discourse on informal care during the first four pandemic waves from March 2020 to February 2022. The study explores three main themes: crisis care allowance, distance learning, and the position of single parents in the pandemic. The author uses critical discursive analysis methods, as developed by Norman Fairclough, to identify prevalent images and themes of informal care in political discourse. The analysis also assesses the degree to which informal care has been gendered and the interconnections between political discourse and other discourses, such as journalistic and expert discourses. Finally, the conclusion of the thesis provides an evaluation of the effects of the discourse analysed and assesses the political representation of informal carers.
Informal care from the perspective of general practitioners
Hvojníková, Klára ; Povolná, Pavla (advisor) ; Vrzáček, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the process of informal care from the perspective of general practitioners and examines the key role they play in the initial phase of setting up the process of care in a home environment. Specifically, the thesis deals with providing information and advice at the beginning of home care, which is often considered by informal caregivers to be a crucial starting point that can significantly influence the further process of informal care and the fate of the patient and their relatives. The thesis also identifies barriers and points of friction that may arise between informal caregivers and general practitioners, as well as the consequences of insufficient information for informal caregivers. In most cases, insufficient information for caregivers leads to the premature termination of home-based care, without the use of all available support resources. The principle of subsidiarity can be violated. because relatives of informal caregivers may be therefore relocated to specialized residential facilities, or at the end of home care, they may be transferred to hospital facilities with no opportunity to pass away in a comfort of their own home, surrounded by family. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to the development of a strategy, or tactics, to improve cooperation and...

Role Health Social Work in the Context of Long Term Care
KREJNÍKOVÁ, Šárka
Long-term care is currently a topical issue, not only in the context of an ageing population and care for people with disabilities, but also in the context of informal care. Formal long-term care includes health and social services, as well as community services and institutional care, including treatments used to stop or reverse the progression of illness or disability. Informal long-term care is provided by family members, friends or neighbours. A health social worker is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team in the context of long-term care provision.
Needs of Informal Caregivers of People with Alzheimer's Disease in the ORP Písek
RÉDLOVÁ, Žaneta
The meaning of informal care grows with regard to the demographic changes in the society and the role of these caregivers is irreplaceable within the system of long-term care. The diploma thesis reflects the current situation in this area with the objective of mapping out the needs of informal caregivers of people with Alzheimer's Disease in the ORP Písek. The theoretical part of this diploma thesis is supported by a number of surveys that bring an interesting perspective to different areas of domestic care with regard to current trends in senior patient care. Attention is also focused on the characteristics of Alzheimer´s and on the mentioned municipalities with extended powers. To reach the objective, a qualitative research strategy was chosen, using semi-structured interviews with eight informal caretakers who were taking care of individuals suffering from Alzheimer´s in the chosen area. With regard to the given area, also the range of shared care and availability of formal services from the perspective of caregivers themselves, were the object of research. Data analysis was carried out using grounded theory mehtod and the result of axial coding is a paradigmatic model focused around central category - the needs of the informal caregivers. The research has proven that the needs of informal caregivres are changeable depending on the phase of Alzheimer´s disease. Meanwhile in the beginning needs of informative character arise, later they modify due to financial and time pressure. At the same time, research has proven a disproportionate offer of services in the ORP Písek and this fact is reflected in the quality of support network. Informal caregivers need to know that they are not alone in this and that there is an individual or a service that might substitute them in case they are absent.
Seniors' awareness of the care allowance
ZDĚNOVCOVÁ, Dominika
This bachelor thesis is focused on the care allowance, and how users over the age of 65 view it, which was also the first research goal. The second goal of my bachelor thesis was to find out the sufficiency of the care allowance for these users. A qualitative research approach, a semi-guided interviewing method and inquiring techniques were selected in order to complete the practical part of the thesis. The interviews were conducted with nine users of social services in Sezimovo Ústí, who are 65 years of age and older and who receive a care allowance. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part I deal with formal and informal care, and especially the care allowance as such. The practical part evaluates the statements of all informants, which were evaluated by the formation of tufts and, last but not least, a summary of the entire bachelor's thesis, evaluation of the fulfillment of set goals and answers to research questions. This bachelor thesis can provide information about the importance of the care allowance for the elderly and serve as an indicator of the current perception of the care allowance by users.
Intergenerational Solidarity In Terms Of The Non-formal Care
VAVROUŠKOVÁ, Edita
The issue of eldercare has been increasing both political and public interests. Families are the main eldercare providers at present. At present it is mainly the family who provides care for elderly dependants. The aim of the thesis is to map this issue and to ascertain the eldercare development over the course of the years, the position of a caring family member and possible help by other family members and by the healthcare system. Population aging is currently an increasing problem in all countries. The Czech Republic also ranks among those states. The problem of providing elderly care is both present and future. It is important to provide the care system of elderly members of the society, which emphasises the key role of the support for caring family members. Independent care is also very difficult to ensure. The thesis deals with the issue of eldercare, the support for the family members caring for elderly dependants. Historical and current senior care development, actual issues affecting aging population and the influence on the quality of life of the caring family members are discussed in the thesis. The thesis deals with possible future development of informal care. The thesis also defines the terminology of the topic above mentioned, for example "senior age, aging", etc. Requirements for becoming a senior carer and ways of the care and elderly dependant needs and possible proposals for positive changes of the system are discussed.
The importance of health services for caring families
PRACHAŘOVÁ, Eva
This thesis deals with the topic of informal care linked with health care services. Many people are not aware of the variety of fields that can be classified as health care services and where to find these services outside of hospitals and surgeries. Often people have to look for information in the moment when they need to start caring for someone else which is usually difficult for them. One part of the thesis focuses on informal care, who carries it out, what it involves. The main goal of the practical part of the thesis is to identify the significance of health care services for caring families. To discover this goal two research questions were set: 1. Why does a member of a family become an informal carer? 2. Why do caring families utilize health care services for a non self-sufficient member of a family? In order to accomplish the goal, qualitative strategy was used, in particular the method of questioning. During the interviews, the semi-structured form was used. The acquired data were then processed using the method of creating clusters. On the basis of the acquired results I believe that the goal of the thesis has been fulfilled. Caring families seek out and utilize health care services when they need to add professional acts to their care. The example of such situation would be if a non self-sufficient person would have to be moved into a hospital or a housing facility (such as a retirement home) where formal care is carried out on a common basis. Families also seek out health care services if they need to stabilize or improve the health condition of the person they care for.

Rooijakkers, Jitka ; Povolná, Pavla (advisor) ; Mertl, Jiří (referee)
The master thesis deals with the quality of care provided to people with dementia and their informal carers. The aim is to compare health care and social services for this group of patients in two countries - the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. The first part defines the dementia syndrome, its diagnosis, symptoms, treatment and management of dementia. This is followed by the topic of palliative and hospice care and euthanasia The thesis also includes the concept of long-term care, which is purposely limited in this thesis to only that part which is provided either by a health service provider or by a social service in the patient's/service user's home environment. The next section refers to laws, regulations and policy documents that relate to the topic of care for people with dementia. The last part of the theoretical definition of this thesis describes the health and social service system in the Netherlands, including reference to strategic documents that shape the care of people with dementia and their informal carers. The empirical part includes the elaboration and analysis of qualitative research, which I conducted through interviews directly with informal carers.
